I would go check it out. Also call up ATI and see if you can send them the Procharger head unit and have them inspect it for damage etc when you buy it. They are really awesome. Also if you went and checked it out you can see if its a P1 or a D1, the P1SC has a smaller blade so it will be more boost limited, and the D1SC has a bigger blade so you can make more boost. I ask all these questions because I have a 2004 GTO LS1 (automatic) that I am putting into my 240z that has a D1SC procharger on it, running 7-8psi. Your car is gonna haul ass.

m1noel, do you mind pm'ing me some pics of the motor mount you had to modify, and what stud off the alternator you had to cut? Also the camaro/firebird mount? Did you use the Johns kit, and just fabricate this new mount to go in with it?

Be careful if the car was wrecked pretty hard, it could have messed up the integrity of the Procharger / ball bearing. Is it a D1SC or a P1SC? Do you know how much psi was run through the motor on the current setup? Pulley size etc?

Will I run into the same problems with my LS1 from a 2004 GTO? (automatic)

I am in the same boat as you, I am using a 2004 GTO LS1 with an automatic transmission.

Very awesome write up! I like the car very much. It keeps me motivated to get my LS1 in mine. Its just a pain in my butt. I have to get my LS1 out ot the car thats wrecked in my garage.

I don't know a whole lot about the SR swap and what power its capable of on a budget. How much power can it put to the ground with stock internals? I figured the VQ would be awesome with 306bhp.

My buddy out here has a 1991 240sx hatchback and he's sick of his KA24DE thats under the hood. Theres a lot of problems with it and he wants to put a VQ35DE with a 6 speed in it. I have searched the internet and found a couple of sources like engineswaptech.com and vqswap.com and the vqswap.com has a kit they sell for $1,200 for basic swap materials, and then $400+ for a driveshaft, $400 for an AEM wiring harness etc. I know that he wont NEED the AEM Harness if he gets the whole wiring assembly from under the dash etc. So heres the real question. Should he get a VQ35DE and have 306 NA Horsepower, or buy an SR20DET S14 Black top (back notch) with 205hp? The SR20 will bold right up to basically everything I have heard. Uses the same motor and tranny mounts, driveshaft etc. Any opinions would be awesome! Thanks for reading.

I park my Z and Cobalt SS very close to the curb when I drive them places. Neither of them are really spectacular, but I do it because I love them, and don't want damage done to them. I do however like the valve stem deal with crazy people. What does that valve stem tool look like haha.
