  1. Worn brushes can cause poor/no output. The diode trio/rectifier can cause low dc voltage and a measurable ac voltage that REEKS HAVOC with the electronics. And you also have the voltage regulator to deal with....and the commutator may be worn..........HAVE IT PROFESSIONALY REBUILT

  3. You might clean up the exhaust, but you will still be breathing exhaust.
  4. I do believe we've found the source of the elusive exhaust smell in the cabin!!!
  5. Sounds like you're running out of fuel. Check pressure and FILTERS>>>>2.
  6. 3) I think oil should be added to the housing, to act as a conductor,to dissipate heat generated during normal shock use. No oil (air) would be an insulator and raise strut cartridge temps. .......Open to other interpretations ?????? 2) I think you either got an extra/bonus gland nut, or they're different, possibly for another application. You don't need 2 gland nuts per strut. 1)A thread file may help to repair the housing. Using a "dremel" to remove damaged threads may be an option. I see no benefit to cutting the housing. Doing this may cause other issues. Poor cutting technique is a whole other issue.
  7. Thanks for the info, Howler and King. Westside auto's description fits the symptoms to a T, and also fits with my diag. Only problem is.......You have to remove the trans and split the cases to replace the filter. Not looking forward to pulling the trans....Thanks....Tommy...... And NO..........Jacking up the RAD cap is not an option.
  8. Do a search, this issue of slamming to close has been previosly addressed before, and fixed.
  9. Thanks for the replies. After cold start, slow/slips to engage drive. Then drives normaly for a minute or so. Then NO drive in forward or reverse. (Engine is fine) I jumped the 2 terminal connector under the glove box. "D" then flashed 1 long,...5 short. My snapon scanner trouble shooter claimed code 15 to be mainshaft speed sensor circuit related. This is repeatable. I inspected the internals of the TCM....Ok (91-93 had burning resistor problems) Fluid level is good. I suspect a pressure problem. Clogged filter??? (not accessible) Line pressure solenoid problem ??? I'm also told that the solenoid "packs" have their own seperate filters??? Trans is filled with Dexron 3. Thanks for your help
  10. 1....Get a bunch of old sockets. Find one thats close in size. Smack it on with a hand sledge..2....Or Sharp cold chisel and hammer (watch out for shrapnel, and protect your eyes) or 3....buy the wheel lock removal kit from a good parts store or tool guy.
  11. Any one have knowledge on these auto transmissions?? Loses all drive after 1-2 minutes after cold start. Code 15, mainshaft speed sensor (I don't think this code is relevant to current problem). Any info would be helpful.......Thanks
  12. If fuel slosh is the issue, center hung race bowls may help. Fuel Bowl Conversion Kits Aluminum Center Hung "V" Bowl Kit - Primary Part #: 134-71S UPC #: 090127663783 Holley Aluminum V–bowls are offered in three different configurations; primary, secondary with accelerator pump provisions, and secondary without accelerator pump provisions. These different options allow you to convert anything from your old 3310 to a Dominator to aluminum fuel bowls. Holley's new Aluminum V–bowls feature a clear, glass sight window for easy, safe fuel level adjustments. They also include all necessary gaskets and fuel bowl screws for a quick installation. The best part is replacing your old Zinc fuel bowls with the Aluminum versions will save you over 1.2lb of weight on top of your engine. Convert anything from your old 3310 to a Dominator to Holley's new Aluminum fuel bowls
  13. What did they find in the toilet of the Starship Enterprise??????? The Captains Log.
  14. Check your coolant temp sensor. If it thinks the engine is hot, you won't get cold start enrichment. Ever try to start a carbuerated car with a broken choke??? Raising the fuel pressure just adds more fuel...(artificial cold start enrichment)
  15. I wish my first Z bounced of the fence so easily...........
  16. This should help. Place stut horizontal. Support strut under gland nut area. Soak with brake fluid. Use a hammer and tap/wack strut housing where gland nut is threaded in. Do this all around strut, soak and repeat. You wan't to disrupt/slightly deform the threaded interface between the 2 pieces. This generaly works very well.
  17. I would get a NEW RADIATOR. Transmissions are $2000.+ Spend the $150.00 on a quality aftermarket radiator. I would also use the aux cooler in series. Unless things have changed...Transmissions were not a strong point in pathfinders!!!
  18. I found this great website. Hard to stop reading all of the articles. This one realy sucked me in!!!! http://www.damninteresting.com/?p=6#more-6
  19. Replace the tank, or get it repaired/cleaned properly. You won't be sorry.
  20. I'm an auto tech for a living. I've only worn them a handful of times. I HATE the constant squeeze the gloves exert. They also really limit my sense of touch. Sweating is another issue. This would really be tough to get used to. Most of the other techs use them. My Dad was a tech, and retired before their introduction. I was brought up in a no glove world. My hands will never win any beauty awards. There seems to be a lot of people who like them. I might give it another try. other uses: blow them up, tie a not, turn upside down for the cows udder look. Then hang from hood. Ask other tech if he is milking the job.(AUTO SHOP HUMOR) Also makes a nice chicken for your kids. AND THIS:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0zy9j97ylr4
