I've worked on cars for over 35 yrs. I have NEVER SEEN a tripot design joint used on the outboard end!!!! Always tripot inboard/, c/v outboard WITHOUT EXCEPTION. Just my 2 cents.........Are you sure the axel is not installed "backwards"????

First,...Welcome. I may be corrected , but I thought all 78's were 5 spds. What problem are you having? Doesn't disengage? High pedal? Gear clash ? Your questions are welcome here, as many have nissan 4 & 5 spd transmissions in their cars. NO NEED to go elsewhere. Explain the PROBLEM you are having....Tommy

I'm sure I have more than one. If I were you, I would delete the EGR completely. It will run stronger/better. Plug the holes. A balance tube without the EGR would unclutter things a quite bit. Are you running flat tops ?? I'm running round tops with a 280 manifold. Very clean install. I also beleive the 280 ex. manifold flows better. Also no air pump/AIR tubes!!!!!or plugs..very clean...A modified 280 exhaust shield fits like a glove with a little persuasion, and protects the carbs from heat much better than the factory setup. Tell us what the big plan is........

What part are you after?? Which tube and fitting? Early or late 260??? The attachment won't open for me.I have a few cars for parts. Let me know..Tommy

Where is your PCV VALVE located??? You can't install vents/ breathers without one. Could be a MAJOR vacuum leak without the CORRECT valve, installed correctly.

In an effort to overcome the "restrictive" exhaust port design, Buick enthusiast drag racers in the sixties adapted superchargers with a custom camshaft to feed intake air in through the exhaust ports and used the larger intake ports for exhaust outlets. Perhaps this feat of ingenuity, and the unusual appearance of the engine modified in this manner, also intimidated rival racers and added to the Nailhead V8 legend that lives upon this page of US auto history.

Let us know if they are the correct parts!!!! FYI,..Bent steering/suspension components do not normaly cause a vibration/shimmy.

BTW..... I believe toe in is prefered over toe out.more stabile.. Remember, As the wheels go down the road, due to the forces on the steering/suspension, toe out will increase.

Has the car sat any lenght of time to flat spot the tires??? Did the tire machine have a ROAD FORCE feature?? It's a drum that contacts the thread and rotates. It measures sidewall stifness,tire and or wheel runout etc......I've seen brand new tires with high road force that you could never get the shimmy out.

Only one problem that I've encountered. Not sure whose end it's on. When I click on a thumb nail embedded in a post, most times, A black "veil" appears over most of the page. (only HybridZ) I am not aware of any other problems.

I wouldn't jump to lapping. Some valves may be coated. Face or surface hardening could be an issue. I would do some research. Back in the 50's 60's70's, valves got laped. Things have changed CONSIDERABLY. Do some homework from reliable sources..not opinions.....I'm interested in the outcome.
