  1. Haha thanks a bunch man, butttttt I think ill have to pass.. at least now anyway
  2. Hey, Yea the 350z car has Low beam HID's . I'm pretty disappointed by them so far though I think they may by aimed to low or something but i haven't played around with them yet. The 06's have H/L HID's. You're right about the older e36's they are really getting to be a bargain and they are nice driving cars. You can get one in great shape for less then 5 grand. I never had any maintenance issues with mine either, I have never had an m3 though. My buddy had a e36 m3 which he put 10K into required maintence the last year he owned it (water pump coming apart, compressor exploded, took out steering pump etc.) he gave up and sold it to buy a 350z lol he now has 580rwhp too. As far as the e46m3 mmm mmm I love them. The horsepower freaks M3 turbo kit is truly something else. NASTY numbers.
  3. Hey Datto, I was saying cut through the outer part but not through the inner fender. Once you cut the outer finder you can peel it down and cut the inner fender a bit long so you can fold it up a bit to complete the lip
  4. mmm I love S4's. They can be such nasty sleepers. I drove a couple before I bought my bimmer, but a bimmer's maintenance bill is penny's compared to the horror stories I had heard from S4's. Still a sick car i drove one with just an exhaust, 15psi chip, and metal bov's and it was hella fun. Has she treated you well? Warren - Maybe so heh, odds are my 240z wont be done by the next event though so ill just be driving this thing down to chill.
  5. Yea I had it posted on hybrid for quite a while now. Anyway questions and PM's replied too.
  6. Hey guys, I just wanted to give you all a head up on this, I have my methanol setup on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=017&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&viewitem=&item=270204364164&rd=1
  7. Hey Thumper, thanks for the tips I have heard cat deletion make it super raspy, Im thinking about using Corsa muffler/mufflers for my exhaust, but Ive got some researching to do... I have to build tthree vq exhaust systems so Ive got a couple trys to make it right lol. Building one for the 240 one for the 350 and one for my buddy. Its got cloth seats and no nav. I thought that leather wasnt an option on the track unless you got a grand touring which doesnt have volks? But I dont know to much about the trim levels, wasnt something that concerned me much. I actually have a Garmin Nuvi 660 GPS unit that I prefer over factory setups. I have it hard wired but can move it from car to car if I so choose. Its also touch screen and can be updated easier, has blue toot hand fm transmitter and yada yada. My brother works for Garmin too so I get the hookup Probably going to get started on the intake next week hopefully, then exhaust.
  8. I am running 245's all the way around. It really works good you cant tell the the rears are streched a little more unless your really pay attention. Does Somebody have a hookup at a tire company that can turn out some 275 16's for us ??????
  9. Thats nasty looking!! that picture looks oldskewl too pretty sweet.
  10. Tom - The VA plates are the original owners I am still waiting on the title, and damn VA!!!! Stupid front license tag i have two damn holes in the bumper so ill have to repaint the bumper come summer. Micheal - as far as the bmw torque, first off i love bmw engines they are the smoothest engines I have ever driven, simply sweet... I also had a 93 325is. But your right they have no torque, thats one reason I think bmw's are geared so high 5th is 1:1 in my 330. My 330 would take off from 0-45 mph but over that it was all over just didn't have any go. The vq owns the s50 engine in everyway except smoothness! Well and besides the fact that the s50 internals are probably much stronger. But if you ever want to build one its gonna get expensive! On a side note though I drove my 325is to 240K miles before I sold it (still running strong). I loved the car kinda wish I still had it. Ive always wanted a turbo one. Here is a pic of it:
  11. Thanks for the comments guys. As far as why the switch from the bmw... well I have always had and loved bmw's. Ive had two e36's and this was my first e46. They are really nice and fun to drive, I enjoyed the interior of my 330CI a lot and for the type of car it is its very sporty. Buttttttttttt.... there just isn't a lot about it that moves me. To be honest I got bored of it and its a car thats hard to modify and make your own (at least for a reasonable price anyway!) With the way I drive I was always worried I was gonna break something and end up with a maintenance bill out the whazooo! The 350 is much faster and handles better, its got a VLSD and I can turn the traction control all the way off! I will miss the rear seat a bit but I can deal with it . The German tag on the bmw is just thats its a authentic german tag. I always liked having them on my bimmers. My family traces its roots back to germany as well but that doesnt have much to do with it I just like em heh. I feel like I will be able to enjoy the z for much longer and since I enjoy playing with cars I feel its something that I can work on modify. Oh and since my 240z is off jackstands like 5 days a year I can still go to Z events with my DD heh.
  12. Heh classy! You really outta put a s2k push button in the cig lighter they look and work sweet.
  13. Just got a 2003 350z Track Edition... and I absolutely LOVE IT. I am especially impressed with the handling as a bone stock car this thing is awesome. Stays flat in the corners and is pretty stiff. its also got just the right amount of pep for a fun daily, with the 6spd its a lot of fun. Switching from my 330CI this thing is a blast especially since it pulls at highways speeds not just geared to take off down low. I'm thinking about keeping my vq240z N/A and using it as a track car and turboing this one in the future. To start she will get lowered, black powdercoated wheels, and Im going to make an intake and exhaust for it. Anyway enough rambling here are some pics I took today: PS My BMW 330CI is for sale if anybody is interested here are some pictures: http://gallery.voodoo-people.com/album889
  14. Ouch looks like a pretty bad issue there. I would say perhaps to see how much you can grind off the calipers and use a small spacer. You can definitely space out the wat's a bit and still have plenty of room. I run small spacers on the back to push them out and make them more flush. I am running 245 tires. But I really dunno how much you could take off, maybe a 1/4" that would still leave you with a pretty good sized spacer and a compromised caliper. I might owuld sell you brake setup before you mess it up and god with the wilwoods. i am running them on the rear and don't have any rubbing issues.... its close thats for sure but no rubbing with or without my spacer.
  15. Im going to have to disagree with you guys. The 350 is a lot wider and has more shoulder and arm room, in addition it has more head room with the arched roof. Im 6'2" for reference and I have gobs of space in my 350. There is more stuff inside of it so perhaps it *feels* a bit more cramped but I think its really comfy. Maybe Ill measure them side by side next time I go home.
  16. You cant make more then 400hp reliably without building the motor thats a well proven fact. And you don't bust ring land you throw rods soooooo.... not a good idea to push it. Anyway I just got a 350z last week as my daily driver and I absolutely LOVE it. I have a 2003 track edition and it is loads of fun for a STOCK car the thing handles like its on rails and has plenty of Zip, turn off the traction control and you can get it sidewayz in a hurry. Its no drag car but it sure is fun for a DD. After switching from my 330CI I am all smiles. Of course mine will be turbo'd in the future. Ill post some pictures in another post later.
  17. Thanks for the comments guys! Ive been working on the wiring harness I stripped the covering off everything and have been tracing where all the ECU wires go in the main harness.. its a mess. Ive seen that thread on NICO and its what inspired me to keep working on the stock stuff. That guy is local and only lives like 30 minutes away so Ive been trying to get in touch with him although no luck so far. My bro is a computer engineer and software designer for Garmin, he works with CAN systems a lot so I'm hoping I might can work with him also if i have issues. I was thinking about making something that would send out the same signals as the various sensors around the car and the security system to trick the ECU and make it easy for others to do the swap... my brother said he could program the chip and design everything but we will see where that goes, if it will even work. OTM and Sparky - Thanks! The TR6 is my dads, he just picked it up a little while ago. Its a really fun little car. I de-smogged it over Christmas for him and started working on tuning. After working on and driving something like that, which is newer then the Z, you really appreciate how advanced the z was for its time. Oh and just say no to stromberg's!! heh.
  18. mmmmm that sounds soooooooo goood. Cant wait to see her run, more vids!
  19. I completely agree, I cant drive my Z anywhere without gettings waves, smiles, or a great conversation when I stop... I live in NASCAR country (I kid you not our police cars say "race city USA") so most guys around here into muscle cars. So im continually amazed at how EVERYONE I have met respects the Z its pretty crazy really everyone from Chevy guys to honda "kids". It also amazing how many conversations start with... "Yup I used to have one of those... sure was fast" and then I get to pop the hood and tell them how fast it is now Back when I had my 260z the first show I went to was a local muscle car/hotrod show. I got lots of neat comments and when they started calling outthe top 15 awards I couldnt beleive it when I got one!! Haha and maybe Mikelly will chime in on this one. When they were in town for the aero testing we went out to dinner at a steak house. We roll in me in my 240z and him in his Porshe Turbo. Before I could get out of the car two kids came over to me oogling it and asking what it was etc, wanted to see the engine and everything....I would have been oogling the porshe myself lol. ANyway stuff like that happens almost everytime I pull her out, Just another reason I love driving a Z.
  20. Smoore- I think he was just quoting his JY price. That is a really good idea, ive never thought about using the cable, how did the length work out? They also have a "isolator" in the engine compartment that would be nice for jumping the car etc. Another great source for wire which is super flexible and not terribly over priced is welding ground wire, most welding shops will also crimp whatever terminal you need on it as well.
  21. Just some updated pictures: And the wiring fun Ive started on more info on this later...
  22. Anybody know what it would take to get one of those cars over here? I figure since they are so old it wouldn't be too much trouble... but anybody have experience?
  23. Somebody may have already mentioned it but you might wanna use some aluminum nutserts on the face piece that way you could easily take hte top on and off to get the the wiring easy. Looks good !
  24. Prox, Give me some good measurements of what you need and couple bucks for the tubing and Id be glad to give it a shot. I really wanna see how those Tb's work out for you.
