  1. Mark you need to trim the part that extends out past the alternator. I thought that you where not going to uses Johns car kit because of the WRX power steering? If you make your own mounts move the motor back 1-2" over the Johns car kit. Mike
  2. I run the same size drag radial on my car and I have found 12 psi to work the best. They are good for 1.5 to 1.6 60'. Mike
  3. Corzette, I am using an aftermarket sway bar and I leave it on the car at all times. I am using 200lb front springs and 225 rear springs. If you get your 60' down to 1.5-1.6 you will run 11's.
  4. Hot-rice, you are right about lifting tires. I have run a best of 11.1 and my front tires are light but on the ground.
  5. Mike 2365lbs that is light. My 72 240z was 2575lbs last time on the scale without me being in it. That is with a full cage, full tank of gas, and subframe connectors.
  6. I am using Tim's adapters on my r230 swap. I do not see how the axle or the cage could travel past the cap. I would like to make sure, right now I am setting the suspension up for road racing. Mike
  7. I have a nice cold air intake, and 13/4" headers. I am using a auto trans so a t56 should make more power.
  8. cyrus how much do you want for the dash? mike
  9. 4" bore? Looks like I need a ls2 block for when I build my stroker motor.
  10. Lt1 is good motor, but if you are looking at making 450hp do not waste your time with the lt1. It will cost you less to make 450hp out of a ls1 vs a lt1. LT1 mods heads cam 1.6rr 52mm tb 320rwhp 11.8@114 Ls1 mod cam ported tb Under drive pulley 398rwhp with old cam 405rwhp with new cam 11.1@122.8mph Good luck Mike
  11. Phantom, both cars have drive shaft loops. Both cars have the r230 swap in them with cv's. Johns car is going to have the cam installed this week. LS1 cam swap. The nice thing about the LS1 when doing the cam swap is, You do not have to pull off the intake,or the lifters. Just spin the cam 3 times and the lifters will stay up. You will need better springs, but I put them in when I did the old cam. Mike
  12. Zfan---I had to find out the hard way but this is how you find out what works. With my old cam I had more power than I could use, looks like it will be time for some better tires. Mike
  13. David, Johns Ls1 is all stock. Just good headers and intake. Ls1 run good stock, he has the 01 motor so they come with the better heads and intake. Dale, My old cam is a MTI C2 224 224 .581 .581 112 The new cam is a X1 230 227 .591 .571 114 I am running a Vigilante 2800 rpm stall torque converter, I thought that I would be ok with a light car. I am using Manley 221423-16 valve springs for stock head applications Manley 23632-16 titanium valve spring retainers for Manley 221423-16 springs My max torque was 350lb with the old cam I had too much low end so I wanted to put a cam in with more top end. Looks like it did not work for me. I used LS1 edit to tune it on the dyno. The good news is that it only takes 1 hour to change the cam back to the old one. I am shifting @ 6600
  14. Just got back from the track in Sacramento raceway. We had 2 Ls1 240z cars out there. Before the track I put in a larger cam in hopes of better times. I took it to the dyno and made 405rwhp but my torque was low. The low torque was not good at the track at all, looks like I need to put in the old cam. I went 11.5 @ 119 1.6 60' Johns 2001 ls1/t56 240z 1.877 60' 7.9 @92.4mph 12.199 @ 117
  15. Good luck with the big block, that motor will not fit in the Z that good. Do you want the Z to handle, or is going to be a drag z? Perfect_Square I see that you are from Walla Walla, WA. I was over there a few months back, State line road. Mike
  16. Joey I have used 2 Slp 160 thermostat and my car will run hot with them. So I gave up on them. I put in the new cam in the LS1 last night, and I took it to the dyno today. 405RWHP I think that you are going to want a cam for that car soon. Mike
  17. I never had good luck with the single plane manifold with the 350 motors. My old 383 loved the single plane manifold. Are you sure you want to use the 4.11 gears. If I had 4.11's I would run out of gear and my car would run slower. Right now in 3rd I am running 6300 rpm in the 1/4. The 4.11 might help the 350 but the 383 will not need them.
  18. Was this on a engine dyno or a chassis dyno? Mike
  19. Cyrus, Amir now has all of the suspension, brakes,r230--done on the car. He just got his fender flares done so now he can fit 275/40/17 drag radial in the back. Get your car done and we will plan a track day. I am now setting my car up for a road course, so it might slow me down some in the 1/4 mile. Mike
  20. cyrus, you work very fast on engine swaps. Have you thought about using the camaro gas tank, just like your old car? So how long until we see you at the track again? Good luck Mike
  21. Mark here are some pics of my LS1-mounts. It looks like I will be able to keep my mounts, but I will have to cut the tower some. Mike
