  5. Tim the early 5.3 have a cable and the later years switched to drive by wire throttles. You can buy any 5.3 and then just put on a cable TB. 5.3 motors are cheap on ebay now. Mike

  7. blueovalz the 280zx will hold up to track racing but not drag racing. If you stay away from the drag strip then they will last you a long time. As soon as you put on some sticky tires and try to launch they will brake. I know eian that drives a Viper blue 240z with a 280zx turbo motor has broken a few of them also. And he runs a 300rwhp 280zx turbo motor that runs mid 12's in the 1/4. Cyrus I did not know that the q45 diff comes with a 3.11 gear? That would be a nice gear to have. Mike
  8. My 240z has the 4l60e in it so I cant tell you how the t56 would be in the z-car. But my 1993 Ls1 RX7 does have a t56 in it. Right now I have 4.08 or 4.10 gears in it. I still find 1st very usable, I use 6th gear over 60mph. The t56 will not be as fast but it will be alot of fun. Mike

  11. I have a free chevy 350v8 4bolt block. The block has been bored .030 over, new cam bearings, it has never been used. This is just the block, no pistons, rods, crank. Free------pick it up in the BAYAREA,CA. Mike
  12. Use a engine lift. LS1/t56 with acc is 605lbs..

    JTR LS1 Headers

    Make sure that you go with a 13/4" header for a LS1. Anything smaller and you are going to have power loss.

  16. JCI kit looks nice, I have seen it on Joey's car. It will work good for anyone that does not want to refine there swap. JCI mounts there motor about 1" higher and 2-3" forward of where I mounted my motor. This is why JCI was able to keep the alt in the stock location. It would be nice if there where more LS1 powered Z-cars out there. I am surprised that there are not more LS1 swap cars out there. After using both the LT1 and the LS1 I would never consider using the LT1 ever again.

  20. The car is up and running now. I will be at the track this Saturday if it does not rain. Any Z-cars want to take there car out to Sacramento raceway on Saturday?

  22. I will have it at the track in 2 weeks to find out how it performs next to the 240z. My 240z with the ls1/4l60e and roll cage was 2575lbs Mike Knell brought his weight scales buy before I did the swap in the rx7. I think it was 2820lbs before. I will weigh it again after the swap. I think that the rx7 will be 250lbs more than a 240z. I will have to wait for the track before I know how it performs. Mike
  23. My stock LT1 was never on the dyno but it was about 250-260rwhp. My car ran 12.5@107 with a bone stock lt1/4l60e After heads,cam, tb,rr It made 320rwhp and it ran 11.8@114
