Hillary's modded Honda Civic, includes a full conversion to natural gas and skinnier tires for the ultimate in gas savings. Next up, Hybrid pulling 74 MPG never going above 55 MPH.

3.1L and cheap? haha, I am doing the work myself and this is definately budgeted to some extent, I have a ported N42 that will be worked on further, and probably a rering/bearing job on the 2.8L, as for the cam I'm not sure yet. I've decided to retain some torque instead of going for all out balls to the wall HP, so even if I only have 100 HP more than stock, thats still quite a jump.

I really dont know that the media would help, maybe in Texas but Oregon or CA, hmm... I know alot of hippy folks that live in Eugene Oregon, not sure on other areas though. I hope there is something you can do legally for yourself, because I think this is ridiculous persecution before a crime has been commited. -
Wow, if the car is a dog with 4.10s is there a big cam in there now? Putting the setup in a much lighter car will of course help, but you dont have 4.11s in the Z I assume? This is going into a Z or is this Domestic still?

LT, if you are confident then GO FOR IT, have fun, just be safe. I am only offering my input, mostly in regards to people who dream beyond thier means. Going from a nearly stock car to quadrupple the horsepower, is not wise IMO. Since you have experience, do what thee will

Thanks ZLine, my own buildup will probably be an NA 2.8L F54 flat-top, I thought about Turbo but dont think it will be road race friendly on a budget, plus will be more power than I can use while still learning quickly. I'm aiming for maybe half of what the original poster is looking at. V8 in another 240Z though with a nasty-cam, shooting for 500 HP would be very sweet. Dont know when that will happen.

I have the exact opposite experience. I had a 97 Cobra that was more difficult to keep straight, than my Camaro. Sits too high, and shorter wheelbase, like trying to drive a pickup truck. I am suspicious of anyone who can't drive a Camaro reliably, if its riced out with a lowering job and bad shocks, and no relocation brackets in the rear to fix the LCA geometry after lowering, or things of that nature, then it is clear why the person can't drive it fast. The stock shocks have a 30k mile lifespan, not great at all. Longer, lower and wider, the Camaro is setup a bit better. You will also find that lap times are almost always lower than in a Mustang, because it takes a good driver to pull the speed out of it, if you visit www.CamaroMustangChallenge.com the road racers there will confirm this. There was however, Don Trask's son who was spanking everyone in his Fox body Stang some couple years ago, well setup and with a good driver they are great cars. In my experience so far with the 240Z, it gives you alot of warning and is a very friendly track car, I love it.

Exactly, and a person can much easier use 100 HP than 500. An unexperienced 'end user' with a 500 HP car, trying to use it, is much more likely going to make a mistake. If its a drag car then it doesn't matter so much, if its a road car, then it becomes a problem very fast. If you TRULY want to learn to drive fast, learn momentum with a slow car. It is HARD to avoid I know, because I did a heads/cam setup on my own car (Camaro), and it was too fast for the amount of grip I had, and my own experience level, it was a mistake. A nearly stock 240Z was running very good lap times only a few seconds off heavily modified Camaros and Stangs, not many people were as much as 10 seconds a lap faster, with MUCH faster cars. Sears Point however is more of a handling track than a speed track. What is nice about having "500HP" is being able to throw your car into second car on the freeway and take off like a bat outta you know where, every once in awhile you can have fun with it, but you have to be carefull with its use and using it will be somewhat rare. You can have "more fun" in a slower car, if you like to shift the gears like I do.

Well, I'm not an automatic guy, but it seems easier overall if this is a street car, to stick with a moderate cam and converter setup. If you want any kind of MPG out of it that is to say. If its a full on race car, then a 5000 converter and a huge cam may be fine for you. But, since I am not an automatic guy all I could ever possibly recommend is to stick with something not too wild, since going outside of the margin is not something I am schooled in. Like a 220/230 would be pretty liveable, a 230/240 or thereabouts is when things start to get out of the street range, depending on gears and converter setup...

L28ET swap....what needs to be done with fuel tank..+ etc.
Mudge replied to a topic in Miscellaneous Tech
There is a pic of a fuel cell on 240Z.org , its a full race car though. I can point you if you desire, its a 16gal setup and I will probably do the same. -
So true Craig. The Grocery card I have, they require you to bring in a form yada yada with your info on it, but they give you the card up front anyway, I never filled it out. I brought that up with a Safeway person once, and they said no they dont use it for anything like that (shopping patterns), sorry bud, but I know better.

500 HP will get a well setup 3000 pound car into the high 10s. Stupid means, for the driver, it doesn't neccessarily mean trailer only. I made nearly 500 HP in my 3450 pound car, and realistically it was "stupid" power, that car is so fast it will get away from a driver not used to such power levels. In other words, take baby steps of 50 HP at a time or so, if your moving from 130ish HP 240Z to 500 HP, thats not a baby step.

It can affect you in a big way, especially with an automagic. If you expect to run a 244/244 cam on a 2.73 rear gear for instance, likely thats a bad idea for driveability.

http://www.dfw.com/mld/startelegram/news/local/5069466.htm Teacher accused of raping student while class watched By Deanna Boyd Star-Telegram Staff Writer FORT WORTH - A substitute teacher was arrested Thursday on a warrant accusing him of raping a 14-year-old girl in a Horizons Alternative School classroom while other students watched. Police began investigating Franklin David Lawson, 21, on Wednesday after a woman told the school's principal what her son said he had witnessed last week. Lawson was arrested at his home in Fort Worth and taken to the Mansfield Jail. Bail was set at $75,000. "Quite honestly, initially the details were such we were a little skeptical until we talked to all the parties involved," said Fort Worth police Sgt. Dave Stamp, supervisor of the Crimes Against Children Unit. "Then skepticism turned into shock." When officers first questioned the girl, she denied that an assault took place but later said it had occurred, Stamp said. "She was initially embarrassed to talk to anybody about it," he said. Stamp said statements by other students in the classroom match the girl's account. "They're all very consistent, the terminology as well as the details of the offense," he said. Lawson was assigned on Jan. 23 to be a substitute at the alternative school for students with discipline problems. Stamp said Lawson walked into the classroom and found two boys playing with the girl in a sexual manner in a space between a bookshelf and a wall. According to the students, Stamp said, Lawson asked the boys whether they were trying to have sex with the girl, then told them that he would show them how it's done. The students who were in the classroom told police that Lawson told the girl to bend over, pulled down her pants and his own, and raped her. "Because she is a student and he is a teacher in a position of authority, she may have been intimidated by the fact," Stamp said. About seven students witnessed the incident but did nothing to stop it or report it, Stamp said. The substitute teacher told students in the classroom not to tell anyone about it, Stamp said. "It's just hard to believe there were so many people present, and nobody took action to stop the assault or notify school staff, and we had to learn about it through a third person," he said. Fort Worth school district officials declined to comment on the specifics, saying they are cooperating with police on an open investigation. Cecilia Speers, the district's director of student affairs, said the substitute teacher "no longer is employed with the district." Police said they believe that Lawson began teaching in the district in August, but school personnel officials could not immediately confirm how long he had been employed.

You are guilty of owning guns, but you are innocent until proven guilty of commiting a crime... Does this sound backwards to anyone? It sounds like prosecution with assumption of possible future crime, but no real crime commited! -
225s for 7" and 245s for 8", some like to go with even smaller for reasons of sidewall strength (road racin'). If you cheat you wont see as much contact patch gain as you would with the 'correct' wheel width. Porsche GT cars will use 235s on a 9" wheel, 275s on 11", and so on.

I dont even want to look. Last nasty pic I saw was the guy that cut his face up and fed it to his dogs, when he was on angel dust, basically no skin left on his face, yes he lived.

Is it just me or is he about to say MOTHER ___ER? LoL

Good point, if this is a road car and your quadrupling horsepower, frankly thats just stupid.
