I'm 19 but look like i'm 15. I swear it sucks in the early years to look young. I get get carded at every movie theater when seeing a rated r movie. (twice for Jason vs Freddy). It's a conspiracy. On another note i just got a notice for jury duty. Sean

I am planning on putting a r230 in my 280ZX. I need to finish my LT1/4l60e install before i will start on the diff. I have most of the parts needed. All I need is more time. Fabrication is key with the r230. Plan on these things: * new mounts because the r230's mounting points are spaced out further than the r180 and r200. * shorter halfshalfs. The length should be around 12 inches on each side. *need adapters that connects the companion flange to the CV on the halfshaft. Ross Corrigan is making (soon i hope) the original style adapters. * new driveshaft of course. I wish i could give you more but I will need to complete the install before I can tell you what the trouble areas are. The crossmember looks to be slightly in the way and might need to be dented. I dont know if there will be any clearance issues with the exhaust. The orginal exhaust had an exhaust hanger mounted to the front mount on the diff so that will need to be modded alittle. Good luck if you do go through with it. Sean 8)

I noticed the same potential problem for my r230 axles. What i plan to do is take it to a machine shop with one of those lathes(machine used to spin parts) and have them etch in a groove. Then I will put a snap ring in the groove. Hopefully that will prevent any movement. Sean

Hope the new bushings work for you. It seems like the details about the r230 in the Q45 vs 300zxtt are always different: different input flange designs slightly different bushing setups different halfshaft sizes(Q45 is 1 mm bigger in diameter) location of the speed sensors are different Q45 r230 is 1 inch longer I guess that what happens when you have two different cars. Looking at that $22.00 diff bushing set again makes me want one . Sean

it wont sound like a honda....1800-2100 rpm range resonates a bit and that can be annoying.....when you accelerate....it sounds like one pissed off sports car. Another thing....its loud....crazy loud....its cool at first but driving at night i usually drive slow just so i dont wake up the neighbors. Sean

I have a 40 series flowmaster on my 1981 280zx and it sorta sounds like a v8 when running at idle and when the engine is cold. Youll never get the sound of a v8 unless you install a v8 in your car. Sean

i am using shortened shafts that mark gave me. i havent installed the r230 yet because i still need the adapter that connects the halfshaft to the companion flange. zcarnut said: Sounds like you could use your r200 driveshaft....just would need to make the driveshaft longer since the r230 is shorter than the r200. As for a kit....not yet Sean

Try energy suspension and see if they have what your looking for. Looks like this place is selling bushings for the diff. http://www.suspension.com/nissancars.htm Rear differential carrier bushings on a 90-96300zx for $22.00. Hope this helps. Sean

Sounds awesome ...gotta post some pics of the engine and stuff. 500hp 280zx is gonna annihilate most street cars if you can get the traction. Happy birthday too. It'll be my 19th birthday on the 27th. Time goes by too quick now...had my 280zx for 3 years......and still no v8 . Have fun killing those hondas Sean

Seems like most people are going aftermarket when doing the r230 swap. Heres a picture of a front mount mas280 made Seems like he is using some sort of bushing from a GM front control arm. Sean

Not sure if all q45's had the same bolt pattern for the rear flange of the driveshaft. The bolt pattern is different with the 300zxtt as it is a 6bolt instead of the q45's 4bolt pattern. So not all r230 driveshafts will work. One option Owen suggested on his site was to possibly drill the r230 flange to fit another driveshaft. Dunno how feasible this is. Heres his info and stuff about his convesion: http://www.v8zcar.com/s30z/r230.htm . Hope something here helps. Sean

Drax240z wrote: I think we should do what Drax and moridin2004 are saying. It sucks that you have to lose your z because the insurance company wont pick up the whole tab. With the bigger picture at hand, without your z will you still visit the site....the answer is proly no. It will be unfortunate to lose a fellow zer(especially someone from washington). So i am willing to give you $100 to help you out.

300ZX non-turbo has the redesigned r200. It is a LSD. Difficulty Level: Medium. Alot of work to do. Need to shorten the halfshafts. Fab up a front mount bracket. Drill holes in the mustache bar. Make adapters to connect the companion flange to the halfshaft. longer driveshaft needed. FYI, an r230 requires the same amount of work. Sean 8)

side stub = 32 spline, diameter = unknown. I would guess 33mm. Sean

New 1970 240z prep to undergo LT1 conversion :)

the r200 can handle 9's but the halfshafts could be a concern. Maybe you should try the r230 that can be found on 300ZXTT as it should be able to hold that kindof power plus more. That way you get the best of both worlds, good handling and reliablity. Sean -
I Think I'm going to buy a Ram HEMI. Need Input...

Awesome truck. I wish I had the engine in my car. What color is your truck? Sounds like it can beat most, if not all hondas. Always a plus. Congrats. Sean -
No way will California accept that BS. http://www.commutercars.com/ How bout a electric car instead that can do 0-60 in 4 seconds and beat a viper . Not much to look at but sure would be an alternative (when they can get a reasonable price for it). But then again, it's no hybrid Z Sean

Don't you mean....no means that the shop owner is out of line...instead of owner is not out of line. Because technically yes and no would be the same, just worded differently. Sean -
Definately the car is more impressive. Sean
