  1. car looks sick. Those are some interesting speaker location. How is the sound quality in that car. I would wonder how the lack of interior would affect it, as well as the interference from outside noise. Also, props for being able to drive around a car like that on the street. The creature comforts of my interior are too important to give up. Mind I ask how often you drive the car?
  2. I am also in the process of mounting up my Autometer 2 5/8" prosport gauges. Not quite sure how I am gonna get them to sit securely in there, i think i might use the original housings, Im sure I will figure something out.
  3. Yea, not really feeling the yellow. Personally black is the only choice for me, well other than carbon fiber if that counts ; ) but kudos for doing it yourself. You can always change it if you dont like it.
  4. yea I saw that on ebay the other day and had a good laugh. But hey, if you got the money and REALLY want your car looking factory then buy em. There is about a million other things I would buy for my datsun with 1200 bucks before I spent it on bumpers.
  5. i absolutely love those seats. Someone was selling them on eBay for a while, but no more. I would definitely put those seats in my Z if I could find them for a decent price.
  6. I am talking to the guys over at Vildini about getting my SR20DET wired up. I have ordered some autometer sport comp gauges (speedo, tach, fuel level, air fuel, oil press, water temp, and voltage) and I was wondering how difficult these things are going to be to install. Vildini wants $75 per gauge for installation and I am thinking thats a little much, but at the same time I have no idea what goes into installing gauges like this. I have taken the dash on and off a few times, so I know the workings of that. I have done some wiring on the car, but nothing crazy. What do you guys say, give vildini the gauges, or just have them wire up the motor and then throw in the gauges myself?
  7. I found Image wheels website off this site and WOW, I love almost every single one of their wheels. Love the old school styling and love the step lips. It got me thinking, I never knew this site was out there, so what other wheel manufacturers do I not know about that have a selection such as this. Image cant be the only supplier. Anyone have some suggestions? Here is a link to the site for reference: http://www.imagewheels.co.uk/pages/wheels_billet.html
  8. you sir are attempting something I would probably never try. Then again, I have no experience fabing up custom body panels. Cant wait to see the shaping process. any concept drawings??
  9. damn man, looks super good. So tell us, what do the 8 switches control?
  10. The OP seats are way more buckety than 350Z seats and even G35 seats. There is obviously custom upholstery work to the seat, who knows, maybe they added foam to a 350z/g35 seat.
  11. Yea, as I start to think more and more I think my glovebox is gonna be very non functional...well at least in the intended way. I better start thinking about fiberglass enclosures I can make for it.
  12. same. just as long as its not a rattle can job. Ive seen some sick S15's and 993 Porsche's that had flat/satin paint. Body needs to be ridiculously straight though.
  13. This guys got the right idea. I will check that out thank you. You never know where inspiration will come from. If I do end up doing this mod, and making it functional (which I would really like, but its not necessary), I would need to figure out how I would make the gap between windows air tight. Perhaps I'll stop by the benz dealership and take some pictures. "dont worry mr. car sales man, not interested in buying one of these cash vacuums, just checking out their badass engineering. Maybe you'll get a customer next week."
  14. Any pictures of your interior that you could show me?
  15. yea but if i pull the window out how will I close all my windows. I would want it functional. perhaps have some window switches mounted up on the center console. sweet indeed, but not mine.
  16. Thanks evan. But digital gauges are not an option. way too modern for my interior. I'm going for the whole nostalgic JDM feel. Oh, i checked out the Defi link display unit. Holy christ that stuff is expensive. 450 for the display, 160 for the control unit, gotta buy all sensors seperately, and those are around 120-150 each! and then you gotta get all that stuff installed professionally. Yea, if i wanted to spend that kind of cash i'd just buy a Ferrari.
  17. Well, you may have a point there with the boost gauge. With a manual boost controller you would probably need a gauge, but your right, i think the electronic one has a controller in it already - i mean, how else would it control boost if it didnt have a reading. As for A/F. I would imagine that if you are playing with boost you would want to make sure your car getting the right mixture of air and fuel. If my motor is running lean I would want to know. Or is that not something that one really has to worry about if all they are doing is playing with the boost controller? I really like the idea of having gauges that have multiple functions, but most companies do not make them. I dont know if its because they are not in high demand, or if its because they make more money by selling us individual gauges. Maybe its a little bit of both. But I think the dual function is cool because it replicates the stock look.
  18. Im interested. Does this come with a dash? carpets? PM'ed ya too
  19. Driving down the road the other day and saw a Mercedes with its windows down and I REALLY liked the look. I was wondering if anyone has seen an S30 with a mod like this? I know it would be somewhat difficult to accomplish since you'd have to remove the frame around the window, cut open the area under the rear window and fab some mechanism to go in there. But shiт (ah ha! take that censor robot - human wins again! gotta love the Russian alphabet huh), this is why there are shops out there. So I can go to them and say, this is what I want, here is my check book, get it done. Pic for reference. I was looking at my Z and I think the rear window could fit without hitting the rear wheel well.
  20. that wooden switch panel is pretty rare. Never seen one of those in an S30.
  21. I believe they are from late 80's early 90's 3 series bimmers. e30 if I am not mistaken.
  22. Those are cool. too bad they aren't 60mm.
  23. Those are sick, and I would definitely go that route, but Ive been told that the openings in my 280z dash are 2 5/8" (60mm) - all of those are 52mm and those would be too small IMO. But a good idea.
  24. So I was talking to Adrian over at Vildini about getting some wiring done. He told me that the opening for the 3 gauges cluster on my 1975 dash is 2 5/8". I was planning on buying the 52mm Prosport tinted glass gauges, but those are going to be a little small. Luckily Prosport has 60mm gauges, but their selection is limited. Now, as you guys know space inside our interiors is limited and I am looking to retain the stock look as much as possible but at the same time have modern electronics in the car (gauges, turbo timer, boost controller, CD deck) So a question i keep asking myself is "what gauges are necessary to run the motor. Obviously boost is key since i will be playing with boost via my Greddy electro controler. Air/fuel is also key, dont want to be burning seals now, and with boost adjustments i like to know im in the green. Oil pressure is on the list. And lastly I have water temperature. Running a koyo aluminum radiator, but its always good to know how warm your motor is running. Can you guys think of any other gauges that are necessary to run a motor safely? My buddy says that there are like 9 gauges that i NEED. But among those are fuel, and although it would be nice to know my fuel level this car is a weekend warrior and I'll just have to keep an eye on my milage. He also says i need voltage, but i will be running an optima, so lack of power is not really a concern. And if my alternator is shot I will replace it. Here is a picture I got off this site of an Interior I am absolutely in love with. Love the picture, love how leather bimmer seats look in this car, love the steering wheel with the gauge on top. (I was gonna make the steering wheel gauge the boost gauge, but i had to re-orginize with the new information I got from Adrian.) oh and you maybe asking yourself, why not just buy gauges from another company? Well, I really want the tinted glass gauges, and Defi is wayyy too expensive and Prosport is the only other company i found that makes them, and isn't some Chinese eBay company. And although this is kinda cool, Its just way too modern and chopped up - I want to keep as many of the original equipment as possible. And no I do not want to ever race this guy.
