  1. Found this pic in the Drag section of the Emirates Motorplex site, wonder what he's running? Been looking at stuff to do while over there, IF I get any free time...
  2. Heavy, I used the HF chopsaw to build my frame connectors. I used a protractor (not the one on the saw) and a square to set and check everything. A couple of times I had to use a length of metal to keep the blade from pushing to one side untill the blade was set in it's cut.
  3. Well, regaurdless of the house being tourched by a homless dude or whatever, it's going to cost me about 6k to get the lot leveled legal like. Should be done w/ in the week. No insurance but I think it worked best this way. There is some funny stuff going on in the couple of square miles, has been for like 15-20 years. People forced out of their homes, then the homes are cleared and lots left vacant. There are probably 6 holding companies that own like 80% of the 2 square miles this lot is on the edge of. There is alot fo development going on so in 20 years it could be worth something. We'll see.
  4. Someone burned Dad's house down, so that helps in the decision to clear the lot. Should be done in the next 4 weeks or so. Also , the lot next door is also for sale now as a stand alone, I've been trying to contact the seller. I think if I can get the 2nd for a decent price, we'll have 1/4 acre near down town and proporty taxes will run me around 500/year for both lots. Probably won't being doing much of anything to it untill i'm done w/ this traveling business.
  5. no Cleaned up everything yesterday but that was about it. Needing to focus on family right now, I think it's hitting my wife that I'm going to be gone for quite a while. She's been tough until today, so we'll see how it goes. I'll try hard to work on it this week but it won't be much if I do.
  6. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=4677787379056410275 This is my first video to edit and post, hope you like it...
  7. Heres a short photo montage of almost start to finish... I will get some more pictures up soon, and I'll try to mess w/ the video but no promises. Remember I'm leaving for Dubai next Sat so my Z work time is quickly ending...
  8. M1NOEL - You can see what I have posted here... http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v469/billz260/ There is about 4 pages of stuff I think...
  9. Just FYI We started my SBC for the first time yesterday w/ just the shorty headers on. It was about 60 deg and damp but no issues.
  10. For the pan hole i ended up taking one of my Nio? magnets to hold a rubber grommet on and held just fine. SO! Jeff (aguyandaredhead) came over at 9am sharp and we got to work, finished up ALOT of small loose ends, worked through a couple of electrical issues and by 4:30 or so we had her cranking. Another guy MIKE ? came by, he is a neighbor and was just passing by, he has like 5 z's or something like that, he helped bleed clutch master then had to go to work. It wasn't firing at first but we figured out that either the wiring is funny or my ignition switch is acting funky. The 12v supply to the coil is only hot when the key is in the run position, so it wouldn't fire until you let of the starter, (Still need to fix that) Anyway, got the timing to where she'd fire and started up and ran really well. I have a couple of things to sort out still. The ignition wiring/switch issue, one of the spark plug wires is arcing to the firewall, electric fan wiring isn't quite rite and my thermo for the temp gauge is in a bad position. Once those are cleared up i'll be able to mess w/ what's left to get it rolling under it's own power. My wife shot some footage and I'll try to get it posted but can't make any promises, since I've never uploaded vid to my PC from the camera. I'll try to get something this week. So HUGE thanks to Jeff (he stayed till 6:30 pm and said he'd stay till I said we were done, unheard of!) I owe you BIG for your help!!! Also thanks to my neighbor Mike who introduced himself and w/ in 5 minutes was under the car getting all dirty! And last and not least HYBRIDZ.ORG I've got some checks coming in and when they do, I'll float some $$ your way. You all have gotten me and the Z to where it is today. Garage is a huge mess so i'll be cleaning up this afternoon, I'll try to get to the electrics after that. Thanks again everyone!
  11. What's the best way to patch it? If you search for threads Started by ME, you should dig up some pics. I'll try to post some more updated pics before and after start up... I'll pull for your Broco's actually I like the underdog, and I'm way more an O-State fan than a Sooners fan. Good luck!
  12. I think so, I'll be heading that way in about 10 days. I'll definitly keep you guys posted on what's what
  13. I've been working pretty hard the last week or so trying to tie up all the loose ends on my Hybrid project so I can get it started before I start traveling. I think mechanically everything is ready accept for the 3" of fuel hose I need to install, bleed Clutch master and beel brakes, install drive shaft, fill engine/trans/rearend with proper fluids, and maybe just a couple electrical odds and ends. So yesterday I had finished my heater plumbing was cleaning up and noticed about 3 drops of oil under the pan on the floor , so i take a look and sure enough there is a couple of drops of oil on the bottom of the pan as well but it's not coming from the drain plug or the sides or anything, there seems to be a pin hole in the front of the bottom side of the pan. SO, I'm wondering if I should replace the pan/gasket now before I ever turn her over, use one of my 1" monster magnets to hold a rubber gasket of some sort on the pin hole untill I can get the motor broken in and then at that point use changing the pan as an opportunity to take a look at the bottom end? OR just replace the pan / gasket tomorrow and forget about it? Also wondering about how well the crank case is going to vent w/ the circle track type 'tall' valve covers I have? One side has two breathers and the other side is sealed. Grumpy recomended them, so I suppose it will be fine, just wondering. I will also use this thread to keep you all updated on my progress durring the initial firing and hopefully driving of the Hybrid!
  14. Say 9AM Sat morning? Is that too early? Let me know if it is and we can work it out. Not sure how long it will all take, most is ready to go, but I did find something I need to fix before we turn her over, I'm starting a new thread for that. I thought of something I needed you to bring but can't thing of it right now... Theater Tek in fact does play .vob files from your hard drive as well as the .TS (HD transport streams) which is why i like it. The version I have is 2.4 so maybe the older versions didn't play from your HD. My Movies 2.0 also has a setting that uses Theater Tek as its default player, it's been working very well so far. I'd like to play w/ FFDshow some but havn't had the time.

  16. Jeff, the reason I got into HTPC's was due to a buddy getting DigiCable w/ a DVR. I wanted to be able to do that w/ out paying for cable and since the HD TIVO box was like 900 by itself i decided to build one. I also like that I can rip my fav movies to the hard drive, and the pic quality is way better than my old cheap Prog Scan DVD player. So far, even w/ software, i am under the $1K mark and am able to do everything I want. I still have alot to learn and set up but it's cool. You can check out my set up Saturday. We're still on right? cygnusx1- you might look at the MyHD 130, it's able to decode QAM, that's the encoding for digital cable right? It has two coax inputs, right now i have one to antenna in the attic for my OTA channels and we do have basic cable hooked to the other. I like the card alot, but it does not work w/ MCE (Yet) but it's stand alone software is pretty decent. My wife is wanting to get cable soon since I'll be traveling so we'll see how that goes, if we get it, i'll want digital and I'll let you all know how my tuner card works w/ it.
  17. Wish I could be of more help. I really don't know what's available, I just ran across my wheels, liked them and picked them up. IF i ever buy another set, I was really impressed w/ that RAY'S Engineering video posted a while back, dunno what offsets they offer but it seems like wheel MFG's could leave a few sets blanked for this type of situation, that way they can cut you the bolt pattern needed. Have you contaced anyone about that?
  18. Very nice set up, when I first looked at your pic, i though those dorways were your speakers!!!! I was like..Whoah! I have a very similar set up i've been playing w/ for about a month now. Still working on some things here and there but all in all it is an awesome system to have in the living room. I have the AMD Dual Core 4200 w/ 1 300gig HD (They fill up frightenlingly quickly when you record HD ), one gig 800 Mhz ram, MyHD-130 Tuner card (only one channel but the OTA HD is superb and has two inputs so i can go from OTA to Cable w/ Chanell up or down, I like it but am thinking of getting the tuner you have for a 2nd), Same Samsung tv via VGA and a Pioneer 1014 tuner pushing Wharfedale bookshelfs and home made 12" Adire Shiva Sub. You should invest in the Gyration wireless keyboard and mouse, well worth the 70 bucks to sit on the couch when your surfing and no cords. Software MCE My Movies Theatertek AnyDVD DVD-Shrink What remote are you using? That's about the only part I haven't played w/. The MyHD came w/ a remote but it only controls the TV functions and I'd like to control MCE and all that stuff via remote too, wondering how many IR recievers I'll need an all that? Also, are you living w/ the 1" black boarder around your screen due to underscan? I've played w/ "Powerstrip" but I don't thing my onboard videocard (nVidia 6200) supports the resolution i need which i think is 768 x whatever to get the full widescreen going. Anything that comes from the TV card is full screen but anything from the video card currently has about a 1" or so boarder all the way around. Nice to see another HTPC guy on here
  19. Did the 93 V6's have 6-Speeds??? I thought they just had 5's?
  20. Ok, i know i mentioned it before, but I have a set of KB Hypers w/ 12 cc Dish, very nice. Make you a deal on them but they are standard bore, so if your new block can get away w/ just a hone... Here's some pics.. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v469/billz260/IMG_0037.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v469/billz260/IMG_0038.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v469/billz260/IMG_0039.jpg If you don't want them, I guess I can use them to make one of these... http://www.zombiesushi.com/wp-content/images/engine_table-big.jpg
