  2. if you can slide them throught the back you can put a lug nut on the other side and impact it on once you get the knurl lined up, if they are really long, you gotta go stub axle
  3. has anyone seen that heatercore/ac thingy that sell at vintage air? i like it but that probs want way too much for it, i like the idea of transplanting a similar size motor into the stock housing or using a different one if it fits right, mines been broke for a while so im gonna leave it alone for now and proceed with other things.
  4. very clean, hope it stays that clean once it gets back in the car. thats my biggest problem, doing my diff work, i painted everything i could this aluminum, put it back in, all the jacking and bolting and wrenching, it looks the same as it did before, like a car

    it will work, you may have to bend the shifter at the most. anything will work if you put your mind and your torch or your impact at it.
  11. nitrous wont give you a higher redline, it will make you hit that lower redline faster though. with the tpi youre torque peak comes on a lot faster than a four barrell setup on a mild motor, thats what they make, torque, not hp, im sure if you modded tb, ported all the plenums, airfoil, siamesed runners you would get maybe 6k, im not sure about that though. im going to tpi probably, and then upgrade to the holley stealthram later on once everything is wired up and running for a while.
  12. its very possible to get around 300hp with a tpi, just cant go too radical with it and expect a 5k redline. there are a lot of upgrades for the intake for everything from throttle bodys, bored lower intakes, bigger runners, etc. etc. i have a tpi firebird and i love the tpi, they do run like trucks though, no top end. im still contemplating tpi, but relate it like this, tpi is like an electric two barrell carb in terms of flow and power band. on a mild setup i think it still kicks butt. any other oem setup is lt1 or ls1, much more expensive but more top end potential out of them, but way more expensive and exclusive only to those motors.

  14. that single turbo conversion is crazy! my buddy raced a t78 supra, and the thing wasnt tuned right had a ton of lag, but in third gear that thing was going warp speed fast!!! i was watching was behind in my firebird checking it out, crazy i tell you that thing accelerated like out of nowhere into terminal velocity!!!! and yeah i was trying to race him and the 5.0, and got smoked by both exponentially bad.

    i guess i could stick more gear back there, 3.54 isnt giving me issues though, i would like to use that 3.70 posi rear setup one day. i am gettin tired of always being in fourth on the street too, but i dont get tired of bangin the crap out of the four speed box-theres something so evil about it, the clicking and the notchy feel to it, feels real mean real nastylike. imma go t5 so i can take longer trips once i can afford to do the swap right, and yes it might involve a jtr pushback ok already
  16. they are heavy, but they pay like they weigh, that hemi head makes that sucker put out ridiculous power all the way to the top end, ever look at one with the valve covers out, good lord! the only other motor ive seen that looks that cool is the 351c 4v heads, those things are ridiculous!
  17. im scared of motorcycles. used to ride them a little in high school. rode my buddies cbr 750 and didnt have the nuts to take it past second gear, too fast too fast
  18. that v8z car you have needs to work out, sounds like its dying if it cant even hang with the six car in a drag race.
  19. the l28 if you can get it cheap enough would be cool, but not the night and day difference you might expect, and when its bone stock its just as quick as your average small DOHC motor, driving skills are what you need to win at this stage more than raw horsepower.
  20. my opinion (being a full time student that does mechanical work on the side) is that you need this car for the long haul, and not just as a weekend warrior hotrod. i would put that money into making the car really reliable, replacing most of the wear stuff, changing the fluids, and taking a look at your front suspension bushings. when you get up in the dollars start looking performance. this way you will enjoy your car and you can get it into better shape before you start ripping ashphault.

    jumbo-you came to race right? that 3.90 would be great in your setup i think, dont you already hav e a nice deep overdrive? im stuck with 3.54 or else i would not dare drive on the freeway, its buzzy as is. yeah the zx's do have a weird mount, i think its stronger though, it uses all four of those mounting holes whereas the z series only uses two of them. mounting from up top seems to be better because the diff wants to hit the tunnel of the car and the mount goes with that motion better. the rear mount looks tougher too...
  22. if mopars werent so dang expensive, youd see me in a drop top hemi cuda plum crazy for sure.... we had one at the shop, pistol grip four speed, 4.10 sure grip, 426hemi with dual quads, that thing was the baddest, people who see at practically bow down at the site of it, and the others wave money at you. so many people were gawking at it at the shop we had to go ahead and say that we werent working on it! it was so gorgeous.
