  1. 400 should be doable with that setup you are going to be running. Buddy got 277 and 317lbs at 12psi on haltech, and I get to use to download his maps! YEAH.
  2. yeah, if you have the hybrid, get that stock turbo off PRONTO.
  3. msa and zcarcreations both carry the cool allen headed ss bolts for most things on L motor. Its funny, my engine is painted, everything fairly clean, but my fasteners look like arse. Thats how I do it though.
  4. Looking good, Id rather see the stock front end then the funky grill though with the teef. Looks like a 200mph ride of your life thats for sure.
  5. when they send you that email about a 10k check for your stuff, tell them hell no its too cheap for the risk and you want a 15k check and a bigger cut, they start trying to negotiate, its kinda funny to me. I usually start trying to send them a big check and see what they do, they really back the funk up then.
  6. I meant 275hp. Have no idea what the heads flow, Im from the old school of fling it and bring it.
  7. Thanx to drift scene, the trueno guys are getting all the good rims off the junkyard z cars. A good thing about drift scene is that manufacturers are starting to make wheels in 17x8-9, 16x7-8, in four lug configurations that may fit with ross c spacers, the 16s ive seen thus far may work on a z without spacers, they are for trueno and celica supra fitments. Also, the drift craze is helping to bring back high perf 15" tires. Im pretty much dedicated drag racer if I have to pick one sport, but I will try my hand at drifto on a track day to see if I like it or not.
  8. it should. brush off the heads a little bit, it should be pretty obvious. lots of hp. can be ported. stock is 275?
  9. In my case, the harness itself was an issue for me, I fixed it three times in two months, the last time I pulled it out of the car and found my short from a loose pin inside a molex connector. Got car running ok, and yanked every last piece of ECCS out of the car. I got sick of the drama and threw my afm far far away. I am a cheap ass, but the 1k+ I spend now means that the road I can run any injector, make my own fuel maps, and a world other possibilities in my quest for that REAL S#17. JWT was out of the question for me, I do like the system, but I got so sick of re soldering and repinning my harness that I packed it for shipping before it sold! Basically, liquidating my ECCS component storage paid for a good portion of my Standalone, as I am turning my back on the ECCS stuff out of pure spite. Good management is a good investment I think, and in the long run, youre bound to spend more money on your car elsewhere. It is the most money Ive spent on the car yet, and Ive decided to take my time on the install of the turbo and efi setup-and then Imma come back out and WRECK...
  10. Motec-hands down. Cant afford it though and probably still too hard for me to configure I think. Haltec e6x-easy to wire up and can use the turbo distributor and use msd as ignitor, makes a turbo z car miraculously run like a bat outta you know. Microtech-full sequential capabilities and not much harder than Haltec, just not as familiar with it.
  11. Likem, wish someone would try it out. 18" looks good on s30s I know that one. I cant afford more than 16" tires, I go through three sets a year sometimes more.
  12. Haltec E6x, 4x4 vented swap, cv conversation, lsd=MURDER It helps when your father is a tax preparer.
  13. I ran it, you basically pay for what you get I guess. I think it works better on the newer cars, I couldnt get it to do too much so I ebayed it
  14. Maybe later this week or the weekend then yeah? Im taking a vacation from the night racing scene for at least two weeks (got chased something crucial) so Ill have plenty time!
  15. Get a loud blowoff valve, its like Crack.
  16. Yes thats what I meant, or I could just swing by, I could check out my enemy, I mean your Z , Haltec wiring is fairly simple As far as I can tell. For baseline Im just going to upload a 300zx twin turbo map and trim it on the dyno (oh wow, the laptop ness makes me jittery!)
  17. Good looking Aux!!! Cant wait to listen to that engine wind up while youre watchin my tailights! Im kidding, way to stay in it, how is trial fit of turbos going, or are you going to big single? Thats gonna handle like crazy, dont have any photos of the new tire gap do you, looks like your car might raise in the front now? Also wondering if you could come by and help me get some photos of the haltec install online, 48 hours to go before I turn the key!
  18. Getting ready to install weeknights this week. distributor is ready to go. I have relays for fans and fuel ready to get integrated into the x harness. Battery is charged im ready to get dirty. wondering what you guys did for ignitor? My buddy runs his off a msd box? Randy-I know what you mean about the sometimes it goes sometimes it dont. Ive had 40k+ miles driving it, but this past month the harness just wanted to go to sleep or something. Pulled the harness out three times and reinstalled it, I finally fixed it, but in the process ECCS lost its job... Definitely appreciate the help and ill post pics later this week or next week whent the car should be running. Ive got a map from my buddy who is running same setup, 370cc inj on a 2.8 motor, so I should be in the ballpark shortly and try to fine tune on the dyno next week.
  19. I should write a book about my adventures with buying and selling the zcar. 1972-3-5-6-7-8- 82-83-92tt ive owned them all except for the 1970 that keeps avoiding me, a true 260, and a 350z My first Z found me. I was driving a B16a swapped honda civic hatch back at the time, and I had just found out about z cars. It was 330am and im driving in the rain to go home from the library (finals) and I see this red car in the distance. I drive closer, and its a z, with an AIRDAM!!! the sign said FOR SALE 327 v-8 4 speed FAST serious only 3000.00 MINE Sold that honda faster than fast, and bought the v8z, the rest is history, a three year legacy with an average of a street race every other day from a daily driver -and earning a reputation in the bay area for being FAST by pulling cards and seperating the real from the fakers. From breaking almost everything on the car and blowing the engine, tweaking the chassis and getting in more than one accident, I learned a whole lot about the zcar and it made working on other cars really really easy. Anyways I do have more stories, but you have to hear them in person, ethics and legality issues you know.
  20. corbeaus look comfortable while being very supportive, I likes em.
  21. If you can wait a month or so I should have some good footage, namely a turbo z dominating!
  22. Aux- Currently im running the late 5 speed with a 3.54, too wide for me, probably good for autox, I want car to go fast in 1/8 mile, right now car doesnt get into power fast enough for me. I will give up the lower ets so that victory can be mine once again. Im also expecting the bigger turbo to lag a bunch, might not get full boost until 32-500, I need to get there faster as well. Randy, my buddy who used the distributor mounted cas system with the 300zx crank wheel did have troubles on the first go around, he had to have the ecu sent back in to fix it, and after that it was fine, so Im hoping I dont have that issue. I did specify to the haltec people what I would be using for crank sensor though. I want to keep it looking close to stock, and try to keep it simple at the same time. Just got fed up with the efi setup im running now, just doesnt work good enough for me I guess. I hope to be able to get the car to fire up in one day, from what ive seen there isnt a whole lot to it besides mounting the gm sensors, the initial cas installation and distributor wiring modifications, and of course making the plate for the tps, I am going to use their generic looking tps to simplify things. Thanx for the injector advice, I got lucky over the past two weeks and liberated five svo mustangs and thunderbirds of their injectors, which I have to send out soon to have cleaned and checked out. I cant wait to see what a full bar of t3, and a cleaner map is like. Of course, when its done Ill hit you up to come check it out, Im doing my reading and what not getting ready for the package.
  23. Finally bit the bullet and purchased Haltec E6x for my turbo car. I would have bought the system from a vendor here but the spot I got it from is local and will be hooking me up with some dyno time, plus support is five minutes from the house-will be looking for other things in the future though I havent forgotten you. Will be using z31cas in s130t distributor to fire ignition and set initial timing, going to 370cc inj and a t04e 60-1/.58. Looking to make 300rwhp and be able to wreck hard in the 1/8 mile, a cv axle and modified phantom grip 3.90 is in the works soon as well. I know of one other person locally with the setup, but wanted to see how many people here are running the haltec and could give me feedback on how they like it? Also had some questions: Does anyone know what the wires from the distributor go to, I believe its four wires, green, white, black, and red? Once I get the system I should have it running in a day or two ideally, and have it tuned in a week or so, initially I will be running the 370s and the t3, later on I will using the t04e and a tial wastegate. I finally decided I dont want a z for a daily driver, I want a reliable 3day a week race car with ungodly STANKONIA. I tried to do a search for haltec, but the search function is down. Sorry if I sound like I drank too much coffee, Im pretty amped about this setup and wanted to know what others have experience with the haltec systems. Ive been fighting with eccs and z31 eccs and have got them running reasonably well as a daily driver, but like the ability in customizing fuel and ignition curves, plus I want the knowledge of setups like this for future projects. I really cant wait to be able to dial in a car with a laptop...
