  1. i think everything motor wise being the same, you can make the efi car just as fast if not faster than the su or triple car and get better mpg and cold starting on top of it, you do have to modify the l jetronic, the intake manifolds are a good design i think, dont reinvent the wheel if you dont have to, and you dont have to. just my thoughts.
  2. superchargers are nice, so are integras, but if i had my choice of daily i would go with the z06- yes they ride kinda hard--BUT THEY RIDE KINDA HARD.
  3. you could always use turbo hoses that came on oem cars, problem is with that is its always pretty small from the factory. im going to use some starion, supra, and rx7 factor turbo couplers for the turbo side of my ic piping, im not going much larger than the 2" inlet, and they look to be tough as heck. probably 2-2.25 on that side--------im going CHEAP-er on this one by sizing the pipes along with my tb and turbo inlet needs. routing intercooler piping sucks, no if, ands, or butts about it. one side of my turbo piping is gonna be sin ugly, but it is NOT coming off. the other side will look pretty good, probably a 2.5 to the tb. its true, a 200.00 ic will cost you 200.00 to plumb, if not more.
  4. maybe the subaru awd would be more adaptable, if you look closely at the rear suspension, they still have r160's in there, or maybe an r180 back there, HITACHI makes their diffs too.......
  5. hes never done a figure 8 in an 01 ss camaro, or powershifted a t56 behind an ls1 at 5800 rpm-LIKE I HAVE. I once did 145 in ones of those things in the driver seat in 6th doing about 3000 rpm, freakin 3000 rpm!!! idiots.
  6. just say this and they never call you again: please put me on your dont call list. they have to stop calling you after that or they can get fined 100.00 a call afterwards.
  7. its about the only thing i dont look to do with anything less than the best a hose snapping off in the middle of driving hard can mean instant turbo and engine death, or result in premature failure really soon after the incident. leaking hoses result in sudden performance loss and you can stall where your really dont want to , like a busy bridge or something. they are not to be taken lightly. i would say yes shopping around is good, but not using the proper hoses in this instance can kill a project pretty fast. this is why my intercooler install is taking me forever, i am routing my piping first and doing all the weldign of pipe necessary, so i have to use as FEW of teh GOOD couplers that i have to!
  8. yes the awd turbo sedan wars have begun, it is time we all beefed up our arsenal. this car is packing 270hp and 273 tq@3800. it can drop the hammer and hook out the hole at any rpm thanx to it having sensors that detect actual wheelspeed to modulate the activation of the awd differentials. GO TO WORK.
  9. i liked the 4x4 swap, but when i did it to my old car i did the ss lines and a bigger mc from a zx, as well as upgrading the shoes and putting on new drums. recently, i just bolted on used drilled rotors and newish calipers with semi metallic pads, and found them to stop just as good, with a little less brake torque, now im a firm believer in the stock setup for a street car, this setup brakes well for me, adn im still using stock master cylinder. but, the 4x4 with slotted rotors is good for track and if you like to real real fast a lot on the street with repeated 60-0 brake stomps. generally on the street, after one close one, i dont really have to use the brakes very hard afterwards because i would no longer be driving so dang fast.
  10. you guys talk like the old haynes 240z repair manual.
  11. i still like the idea of being able to run a bone stock efi system and have two injectors come on when the times get tough, stock efi wont take a alarger injector without running funny, and sure its not import tuning to its best potential, but for 500.00 a kit with the injectors, and keeping a perfectly running efi system that now can run high boost with a little less efficiency-but only when its on, i can live with that.
  12. wet campus, and they sell single mini cigars at the school general store next to the blue books, HELL YEAH. do what you think is right for you, thats my two cents worth.
  13. thanx i didnt even trip if it had a header or not, if it does have a tube header im grabbing it, if not ill leave it be. thank you.
  14. i had both last night.
  15. yes i am, with the L6 and a street car i cant see any other way to have the best of both worlds. i enjoy my carbs as much as anyone, but man this stock efi turbo setup is grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! my car weighs about 2750 and i do get 22-28 mpg, the higher of the two when i keep it out of boost. if you really keep your foot out of it and turn boost down, you can run 6lbs and 87 octane and retain that mpg-how do I know, cause I do. I dont like 240z, they hurt my butt, but i can see this motor in a 240 ripping me a new one with the same stuff i got on it. im not looking to beat the world-I did that with my v8z
  16. thats helpful, the turbo looks like a garrett, and its definitely a greddy, maybe ill take a part number down and check it out. the thing looks tough as heck.
  17. ive heard thatt the rb20 will bolt up to an L series transmission, fact or fiction? i heard it was a transition type motor and nissan made it work with L series trans so they could use up all the surplus, like how you can find a p90a with solid lifters sometimes? if thats so that would make one of these very appealing to me and more people in general. fact?
  18. no v8s for me under 454 cubes, thats my vow, unless its a numbers matching sbc stingray vette, then no small block under 380 cubes is allowed-but numbers must match. ive officially sworn off small blocks of any make and model with that one exception. the only american motor that even makes me want to drop into a z is the buick 3.8 gn motor, and it sucks because there is one in front of me every day staring at me in the face, next time, next time.
  19. if youre serious about the install let me know. mudge, lets get that bucket driving man, we need to go heads up!
  20. you can just take wire off afm and ground to chassis, i i did it once to setup my car for the first time. i dont know which pin it is on l jetronic though.
  21. dont do a buick 350, do a 455, they are the same casting, but you get 155 more ci to play with. its pretty straight forward, and should only take minimal mods from a typical jtr conversion.
