  1. Yeah really nice! Â I love that color. Â Great job on the overall restoration of the car.
  2. I'll tell you what. Â This thing sounds like an old Ferrari in my ears. Â I can't wait to get her on the open road. Â Here is the first crank video and another one fully warmed up and revving a little. First Start: Sweet Music: Build thread here: http://forums.hybridz.org/index.php?/topic/84832-my-latest-projecta-new-z/page__view__getnewpost__fromsearch__1
  3. Here is my favorite part of building a car....especially a Z!  Sorry for the crappy cell phone video and my finger on the lens  STARTUP VIDEO:
  4. Very nice. Â Â Â It is becoming more and more prevalent. "Fastest-growing developmental disability; 1,148% growth rate" Â Something needs to be done NOW.
  5. Don't forget that people in the colder climates are just breaking out of their cabins to go play outside too! Â Ever try staying couped up in a house with no Z for four months! Â You would be outside too when the weather finally broke.
  6. Sticky intake valve. Â Vacuum leak. Â Just a couple of random thoughts,
  7. Sounds like a great career about to take off! Â Â Â Â hehe. Oh I forgot to add, congrats! I hope you land a job! Â Â I Always like this video from a tower in Aussie.
  8. Yeah thought about all of those things before I made the decision. The foam cells are really pretty large. Â I think they will flow big. Â Fire? Â Yes taking a risk. Â What advantage do the $120 socks have in that arena? Do they have a special foamulation or internal screens? Each ball has a surface area of about 28sq-inches! Â Assume about half of that area will flow, that's 14in squared times 6. Â That's a respectable amount of area but I will watch for problems for sure.
  9. The shield is a six dollar galvanized sheet lined with foil backed glass mat.
  10. I think microphone socks might work also. Â They are more expensive and usually don't list any dimensions though.
  11. I did NOT want to pay $40 for TWO foam socks for my triples. What I did is kind of funny.   http://cgi.ebay.com/Sponge-Balls-3-SS-BLACK-Close-Up-Magic-Trick_W0QQitemZ360121347652QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item53d8e7ae44 I bought 8 of these 3" foam magic balls and carved them like a pumpkin, and then stretched them over the velocity stacks.  They fit tight, seem fuel proof, and are cheap.  I don't really care about their fine particle filtration properties, I want to keep gravel out.  Although, it seems that they will filter pretty well.  They are open cell foam, tough, stretchy, and cheap. I may spray in some filter oil if they breath well enough.  Â
  12.  A HUGE CONGRATS to you and your wife.  He is handsome. Sounds like me three years ago.  My little 3 year old guy amazes me EVERY day.  You will see.  Mark my words. BTW: He shares a birthday with Big Phil!  Uh oh! Â
  13. Â Janaka had that red one up in Ontario tugging at my wallet for a long time... almost bit at that one. Â I am glad he kept it! Â He really loves it. http://forums.hybrid..._1entry710276
  14. I knew he was kidding. Â I can tell because I am highly trained in detecting lies. Â His cell phone is NOT the only computer he has...there is also one firing the injectors in the Z.
  15. I know the later senders have two pins. Â I think it's for a low oil pressure ignition cut out. Â Does the pressure gauge signal on the later sensors, put out the same resistance curve as the early sensors? Â Can I just stick the 240Z barrel connector onto the spade from a late sender? I have a like-new ZX sender on the engine I am dropping into my 72 and would like to know if I need to replace it or not. Thanks.
  16. My condolences. Â The weather up here looks nice for the next 5 days. Â I would hop a flight and skip school. Â Just let the prof's know the deal.
  17. Very nice! Â Keep us up to date on your driving impressions, and future excellent gifts from the wife.Â
  18. Here is about $15 in materials, made with hand tools, and a few screws and shoulder bolts from McMaster.
  19. I find that I get stuck behind more Toyota Camry's doing 25% UNDER the speed limit, than any other car. Â It's because Toyota has such a reputation for "ultra-reliability, low-risk, bean-counter-approved", that people who fear the sound of popcorn popping, are driving them. Â It's the ultra-safe, ultra-meek, appliance loving, non-car loving, complete risk avoidance, people that love them most. I am sure many of them have been walking to their psychiatrists upon reading the headlines about accelerator sticking!
  20. Â Looking great. Â I feel that you can achieve a good sound system these days without doing any cutting of any interior. Â Add a mid and sub cabinet in a clever hiding spot like the tail light area or right behind the seats down low. Â The get your imaging from micro sized tweeters placed up near the headliner, seat backs, or around the dash area with double face tape. Â Tuck the wires neatly and you have a good system with no "interior invasion". Â
  21. I've done two track days with my silver turbo Z...if I wrecked it, I would be wrecked. Â Too many of my years have been put into the car. Â However, it is so much fun and satisfaction to bring something that YOU built, to the track, and then bring it back home successfully. Â I keep these days to a very minimum until I am in the position to own a "disposable" car. Â The problem is that even a "disposable" track day car, takes a lot of time and effort to put together so it's a catch 22. Â I need a car that has no personal connection to me. Â A rental?
  22. Joe, Puxatawny Clive rolled his car out of the garage the other day and saw it's shadow. Â You are screwed!
  23. Sawzall, small drill press, aluminum bar stock, drills, hand taps, and a bench grinder = Â poor mans milling machine! Weber Linkage - Home Made.
  24. UPDATE: Â Decertification Notice http://www.sfifoundation.com/DecertificationNotice03-26-10.pdf
  25. Won't be long now! Yes it was a ****** with the trans in the tunnel, the carbs on it, the headers on it, and no load balancer on the lift...but she went in anyway.
