  1. Buzz (Mike) and I went to look at his current Z which was for sale in an apartment building basement in the Bronx. We poured in two gallons of fresh gas to get it started and all the gas poured right out the bottom of the tank and flooded down the floor of the parking garage. Residents smelling the gasoline began to evacuate the building and soon, a couple of blaring firetrucks came to the scene and took over the site. We were a little bit embarassed but eventually we got the Z started and Mike bought it. Ooops!
  2. I am not sure if this is technically a "download". If it should be relocated...please do. Someone hoarded Z links here: Unfortunately, a lot of the links are old and dead but you might find them with http://www.archive.org/web/web.php https://www.msu.edu/~levesqu6/linkindex.htm
  3. Unfortunately, this chart does not show "K" spec. http://www.geocities.com/bruskiz/ZCamSpecs.htm
  4. Wow, he was a REAL newsman. Not like the ditzy, hyped up, glory slingers of today. I remember watching him on my parents click turn dial Zenith TV. Who needed a remote when channel surfing was more like stepping over a puddle. Just a few channels, rabbit ears, and tin foil. He was easy to listen to, and you always remembered what he said. I think I was just old enough to reach the channel dial. RIP.
  5. Story of my life...I enter college ready to drink and the drinking age gets raised from 18 to 21. I get hit by a 17 year old driver and then they raise the driving age to 18.
  6. I like them. Go for it. They will give it that Blues Brothers "cop car look" or the nascar look.
  7. Helium reduces the unsprung weight. Also remember that air in a tire is a rotating mass, so you gain tripple weight loss !! LOL.
  8. AVG and SpybotSD. I agree, both have free versions that work great. I run them in parallel. Keep them updated regularly. I also keep Avira running in the mix (also free) but it pops up an ad once and a while to buy the full version. I might drop that one because of the ad.
  9. My flight plans are filed for tomorrow. I'll just eat some cake today!
  10. Thanks! It's my first birthday since I was 21 that I didn't have the Z in my posession. What to do???? I'm lost without my Z.
  11. Those would look great and function great with louvers cut into the back side of each flare for venting the wells.
  12. For the life of me, I can't think of what to name this one????
  13. Well, after all the dust has settled, Hagerty Insurance gave me a green light to choose any shop I would like to repair the car. No deductable. So today I met with Melvin Benzaquen of Classic Resto in Pine Island, NY, a Hagerty certified shop. Here is one of the cars that I saw there today: http://www.classicresto.com/mambo/content/view/36/43/'>http://www.classicresto.com/mambo/content/view/36/43/ http://www.classicresto.com He has a bunch of Z's in his shop among some other amazing American Iron stuff. He also does custom swaps, and bodywork. He seemed like he was going to go over my car with a fine tooth comb to make sure it all gets put back to "better than it was" condition. He even spoke about fixing the roof/rear quarter "cracks" where Z's normally crack. So I think he is going to dive into it pretty deeply. The good news for all those in the Northeast, I can tell you with great certainty that, the since my car is officially in paint jail, the weather will remain sunny and dry for the balance of my jail term. The bad news: My Z is in PAINT JAIL!!!!
  14. That "great stuff" foam is pretty light for the volume it fills. I use it in the tail section of my RC plane to stiffen the fuselage. It added almost no weight, and made a big difference in the rigidity of the plane.
  15. Think about how easy and cool a carbon fiber flare "extension" would attach to that flat lip on the side! Nice photos BTW!!
  16. Get a GPS and stop making U-Turns. J/K...The insides if the tires might hit the frame rails if you have fat wheels.
  17. Rossman nice point. Narrow tires can also be made of softer compounds. They just wont last as long due to higher PSI on the contact patch.
  18. Unfortunately, driving, is low on most peoples priority list these days. However, more people than ever, depend on driving. I don't mean to rag on the young drivers. There are plenty of other people in other age groups that just plain suck too. They have NO excuse because they should have experience behind them. I just wish it was taken a bit more seriously by the general public. Tom, if the bolts go unused, you got first dibs, I owe you one anyhow.
  19. Anyone that studied physics may have learned that the force required to slide an object over the surface of another object depends on the coefficient of friction between the two surfaces....keep reading this gets FUN. F=uN F-force required to move object u-coeff. of friction between the materials N-normal force of the objects (pressing down onto the sub-surface) Car lingo: F-handling/braking forces u-sticky tires and grabby pads N-weight of the car pressing the tires down, or the caliper piston force. Notice anything missing? AREA!!! So that tells you that no matter how much area of contact you have, the sliding force, F, depends only on the Mass of the object (contact force), and the coeff. of friction u. When I first learned this, my hand shot up in class. My questions revealed where my mind was at the time. "So, why do wider tires make my car handle better?" "Why does everyone talk about more swept area when bragging about brakes?" AREA doesn't even get to play in the equation of force and friction! If the AREA of contact does not even come into play when figuring out braking force or handling, based on the equation above, which is correct with assumptions, then why does everyone talk about MORE AREA for brake pads and tires? CLASS, DISCUSS! Quiz on Friday. I'll be on vacation until then at Hershey Park in PA!!!! BTW, the Hershey Park Auto Museum has a 240Z on display. I can't wait to check it out. What size wrench do I need to pull the rear bumper? LOL.
  20. "Ganson's piece demonstrates the unbelievable power which can be generated through simple gear reduction." It's not delivering lots of power to the concrete. It's just multiplying the torque.
  21. Can't we use Madoff to make money somehow? Sell raffle tickets to beat the crap out of him and pay back some of the victims? Every ticket is a winner! I get my news from OnA.
  22. Hey what size wheel are you running? Do they rub? Haha Nice! J/K Digg the black door pull too.
  23. Thinking along the same lines....need a bigger turbo!
  24. PICS And....just in case they deny...paint chips retained!
