If you don't show up for court they fine you anyway, often times higher than if you had showed up and explained things. Showing up is a show of respect and they get VERY upset when you don't do that!

Talked to some Supra guys with big singles..
BLKMGK replied to BLKMGK's topic in 6 Cylinder Z Forums
Umm no, at 4K the T78 is making BIG boost on a Supra. I've now talked to three different guys who own them and everything I hear is that it's lag isn't bad. Remember, stock twins don't make most of their power until 4K either. With a programmable ECU I can make up for some of the lost off-boost performance by wicking up the ignition curve. Right now I'm learning the ECU's ins and outs, then will install fuel, THEN the turbo Hopefully by Summer's end! T88H, now THAT is a drag turbo and guys are pushing those! There ARE other kits with faster spooling turbos BTW - they only cost about $2K more! I know Lone. Rear suspension FIRST then I'll worry about the motor. 300RWHP in that car is enough for the moment - I've broken several Ujoints now already ya' know! EFI is still planned, the guy with the intake STILL hasn't done it but he knows I'm starting to get antsy about it. I'll get there, I've got about 10 years to go before I look worse than Pete -
240z Caliper weight - stock vs. toyota
BLKMGK replied to Heavy Z's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Weigh an Outlaw caliper sometime - a pair of them weighs probably less than a single Toyota unit! -
how hard is a 350 to get in the datsun engine bay?
BLKMGK replied to a topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
Tons of room, it drops right in if you follow the book on an older 240Z. I did it over a Winter in my spare time including suspension and whatnot. Still need to do a little more to convert to CVs but just have had NO time of late. -
My friend's shop has a standing offer - first 03 Cobra to come in gets a free dyno session. They want to know how well it'll run and do a little development work on it. Exhaust is supposed to be worth 60HP and a pulley some more. This will be one SICK beast when it gets out there but beware - several posts on the Mustang boards have been about Cobras with LOW mileage that have had engine problems Dunno' the outcome of those stories...

The ones I used weren't cast. They were bigger tubes too and while the port matched GREAT they didn't fit on the driver's side. The Rewarder headers I've got now supposedly don't fit onthe passenger side but DO fit on the driver's side. I'll test fit them myself when I've got some time and energy - need to do the CVs still dang it. Supra tuning is eating my time up and I've been pretty lazy lately too

Umm, if you think they all got good service you had better reread those posts! At least one guy got corralled into paying for a new $20K motor and is now suing them after hearing about all the other failures. In almost every case their going in ASSumption was that the customer had overrevved the engine. That's an engine with a breaking point within something like 500RPMs of peak power from what I gather. That sux! BTW - talked to someone at work today who owns a Z3 and was looking to upgrade to an M3. Guess what they will NOT be buying as a result?

Talk to the DFI folks FIRST. I believe that mods to the injector drivers ARE needed. If this is the case and you don't do the mods you will burn out the injector drivers eventually. The older DFIs are pretty close to souped up old style GM units (IMO) and I KNOW those had to be modified. If you cannot get a clue from DFI post on a GN board - they will know I'm sure. FWIW - you may be able to simply use a resistor to do this rather than modify the ECU. The Toyota Supra uses one of these and my AEM computer is able to run low impedance as a result. Hrm, and are you SURE those are low impedance injectors? I think so too but double check...

Wow, read this link - incredible! http://members.roadfly.org/jason/m3engines.htm Whoa! BMW has a problem on their hands here...

I've got it now to host but give me a day or so - 1.5megs of data will have to be reduced in size some to host. Have the tools, will try to get the time tomorrow evening.

Speedo and tach are indeed a little loose. Wrap a little foam tape around them and maybe use some flat black caulk to hold it in or bend a bracket for it. Silicone is a bit shiny IMO - it's what I used I installed mine with the dash IN, no way would I goto the trouble of pulling the dash for something this simple. My WEB site has some info on bending a bracket to install the middle ones on the stock bolts - hint: pull the vent controls to get to everything. If you encounter a stuck wingnut you may be able to break it free by putting a screwdriver in between one of the wings and the bolt and twisting. My car didn't even have all of the wingnuts under the dash! IMO the Autometers look great. I went with Phantoms but I'd use the Lunars if I did it again. Go with the BIG tach and speedo, get the tach with external lite and buy the Summit recall to have the best of both worlds. I took the lite off and replaced it with a smaller one up on the dash. The Autometer extension cord for the lite isn't needed, mine turned into a spare. Lemme know if you have any other questions, it wasn't a hard job. I used mechanical guages for water and oil pressure - fuel gauge will be the biggest PITA but since I've got a fuel cell it was no biggie. Electronic Speedo worked fine with the T56's OEM sensor. I used a GPS to calibrate it.

If you send it to BLKMGK@BLKMGK.COM I'll try to host it so long as it's not massive.... Would LOVE to see it

dear Z pro's i have a ?????????????????

SCCA sells the coilovers you'll need. Mikelly sells the suspension arms etc. SCCA sells the brakes you'll want including an E-Brake setup but I've yet to have the time to install mine - it's been months now In the end it probably won't feel like the RX7 but it will FLY! Braking will be damned nice too The 2JZGTE will be "fun" to install as the turbo manifold etc. might get in the way. If so consider a small single and that 440RWHP mark will SKYROCKET into the 500s. My 95 Supra made 390RWHP427ftlbs with just an exhaust and bumped boost FWIW. You'll want a good intercooler regardless, look into the AEM PnP ECU too if you want a fully programmable computer. Somewhere I've got some pics of a Zupra that has a single turbo and th eENTIRE Supra TT drivetrain in it. It doesn't show nearly enough (E-Bay pics) but it might help. Lemme' know if you're interested... -
Scottie, link is correct as-is. BLKMGK.COM should resolve correctly.

BOING!!!! Wow, that's some kind of sweeeet!

3.0l Supra run 720CC injectors as a standard upgrade, they run out of fuel at about 500RWHP on the stock 550CC injectors. Those injectors can be had cheap used but they're side feed peakhold injectors and might not work for you. the 720CC injectors that Supra upgrade to are top feed Bosch style (I'm looking for some). People often upgrade to 800+CC injectors too and apparently they idle just fine on a Supra but again that's peakhold. Right now with stock 550CC injectors I idle about .6% and that's actually a little rich. When I get my ignition running better I'll be able to lean that from 12:1 where it's at now to at least 14:1 or leaner. Hrm, and Supra guys are finding that the Denso Iridium plugs make a BIG difference in our cars. These will fire in the hell that is 30+ PSI and 780RWHP! Hrm, consider a W/B O2 setup. Mine is installed now and WOW does it make a difference knowing what's going on under the hood. Scottie, if you can swing the funds grab one of these puppies! DIY-O2 is the cheap way and would be perfect for your Z...

Door panels man, and th elittle cardboard flat trim that's just behind the doors. I'll take a set of each for a reasonable price Hrm, and my site has pics of a Z with a low rise cowl. I think it looks damned nice and not obnoxious at all

Don't touch that Powerdyne - trust me. Go ATI or Vortech maybe. Bearings should always be factory inspected if you buy used too. But yeah, a TON of support. I've got YEARS of Mustang mags here if you ever want to browse. Going back to about 1984 I think

Heh, SAME color as my RX7! Dude, wax that sucker and it will glow in the dark I swear! Drove the RX7 today and some kid on th eside of the road pointed and was jumping up and down shouting, I had to laugh. Tint the windows dark, it'll look AWESOME! Best color yellow I've ever seen, the 'Vette yellow is close but I dunno' that's an awesome color.

Guys, that RX7 swap was SWEET! As a matter of fact it didn't add any weight and the guy that did it built the motor to spin 7K+ just like a rotary. He used an aluminum block, heads, the works and it was fuel injected. He pulled all the Mazda and RX7 emblems off the car - it's his onw now If you search our forums you'll find where he posted here. I invited him here after the twits in the RX7 forum bashed him. That man was NO fool, he had built a couple of NASTY rotaries and was about to drop in a really nice one when he decided it wasn't worth blowing yet another one. He'd been through several and had taken his car about as far as it could be taken. Keep a 13B under 400HP and it's not too bad in the reliability dept. but start going crazy with boost and one hiccup can ruin your day! BTW, I'm selling my 93FD3. It runs like a raped ape and has a pile of mods but liek everyone else here I want more power and to try for that will simply trash the car. Personally, I want a Lotus Europa with a nasty turbo rotary or a Datsun 510. The Lotus I'm thinking of is TINY and really low to the ground. A 914 would do me too but I think I'd skip th eV8 and go with something smallerlighter and TURBO CHARGED

I wouldn't toouch a pit and many counties won't allow them either. It's a safety hazard as fumes can collect in there and lead to an explosion. If I recall correctly gas fumes are HEAVIER than air - guess where they go Look for a USED lift. My friend's shop has at least one that cost only $500 and he's bought several used. Out of the 4 he has only two are new and one of those is a 4post for the dyno and alignments. There's always someone going out of business somewhere selling alift, that's the way I'd go. Even if it needs some repair you're ahead of the game. Just make sure the pump works!
-
Heh, guess what the Supra guys are playing with for additional octane? Yup, BBQ tanks in the hatch with propane. Actually, some of them use BIG NOS bottles I think. Anyway, it's possible to use it as supplemental fueling when you go big boost and just run gas around town...
-
Ya' know something - now that Lone has mentioned it... I'm running a Howe too! Really, I think either will work fine. the big thing is to have a good fan and MOVE some air. I literally feel a breeze behind my car if the hood is up and that thing kicks on. I've witnessed it actually pick up a piece of paper from the floor in front of the car in the garage and stick it to the front of the radiator Truly sick!
-
GRR! If I can get the RX7 sold I'll be upgrading my garage too. No bigger floorspace-wise but I'm going to put on a second story. My problem is no room for a lift height wise. My roof is toast, the shingles shot. Just need to get my bills straight to do this. I figure a barn style roof for headroom and a door on the front end so I can load big stuff up there myself. Need storage space big time and room for a lift, this crap of laying on the floor is WAY old
