  1. Thanks very much to Proxlamus from CO who just happened to be talking to me online when I was in contact with the guy from Slidell. He sent me some cash to help purchase the stuff. I got as much as I could fit in the Z. Pete should be good to go for quite a while. I AM SO RELIEVED! I cannot express it. Mario is ok, Pete is ok, his family is ok, my parents are ok, my drummer is ok, and almost all the rest of the people I know evacuated before the storm and are ok. There are only a few people I have not talked to since monday and I think they all left the area.
  2. I'm sorry you guys had to do to this, but I definitely think you would have run into a lot of problems at this point in time. It's hard to buy gas down here.
  3. No, that won't affect the economy that much. The economy will be completely destroyed by the refineries and oil companies relocating out of the state, and the other companies that are moving as well.
  4. Edit: I removed this after realizing it's probably too close to "politics."
  5. Owen went to a LOT of trouble and expense procuring the VHS tapes, making DVDs, and then copying them. That is a PAIN in the ***. He's only asking 5$ measely dollars per DVD. Just f'n PAY THE MAN. I'm not making copies for anyone.
  6. They are being shot and killed by looters. We have lots more carjackings and muggings and shootings in BR in the last 2 days as well. F'ing ANIMALS. I have an update - on NOLA.com there is a forum you can search for areas of slidell. They say Pete's neighborhood did not flood, which is awesome. I am still worried he will not have safe water or food for very long though. There is definitely no power or phones down there.
  7. I have been trying to call everyone I know around here for the last 24 hours, but cell service and landlines are both spotty. I was able to contact nelson tonight, and both his Z's are fine. BR was very lucky, we suffered minimal damage. The biggest thing we have to worry about is damage to the power stations. There were only a handful of unlucky homeowners around here with serious damage, and we had almost no water, so no flooding. The person I am really worried about is Pete (Pallnet.) The last time I talked to him he said he was planning to stay in Slidell. They are not showing Slidell much on the news, but it is under 12+ feet of water in many places. There is no power, phones, cell coverage, drinkable water or food. I -really- hope he left in time, slidell is done for. Even worse is the fact that less than 70 miles away, N.O. is turning into a war zone. All the "human" scum who stayed there to loot are running rampant. I have been listening to the scanner all day, and apparently a cop was shot by a looter down there today. There were reports of a large gang of 100 or so people stealing limos and trucks and filling them up with stolen guns, food, jewelry, etc. Now the LSP is sending in tanks and troops along with the NG. Freakin unbelievable. There was even looting in Baton Rouge today, I heard downtown and east br both had people stealing valuables and breaking into grocery stores. I think they KNOW better than to try breaking into residences though. Edit: Gabe (wigenouts30) asked me to tell you guys he's ok. His area of Mobile is pretty unscathed, just power out in some areas.
  8. 460k people in my area have no power. Somehow the power is still up here!
  9. Sorry man, I didn't think he would close early but I couldn't help but give it a shot, and he was kind enough to accomodate me. He did an awesome job on shipping the stuff too. Yo, when it's done I'll drive it over and you can tell me what is going on in these Wangan Midnight movies.
  10. In state taxes if nothing else. Hey you guys in FL - when are you going to turn on your giant secret vacuum and suck this thing back over there?
  11. That's basically what he had running yes. Sam's got Joel's old plenum and TWM's, so I now have Sam's old plenum and I'm going to use gutted carbs. P.S. This will not be done by next week.
  12. Actually, I wasn't going to use them together, I was going to put the intake on my silver 77 with a stock exhaust manifold, and the header on the black car with triple Solex carbs converted to ITBs, using this: But, it does use the stock mounting flange. You're seeing the picture from the bottom, that's all.
  13. I think Joel is in the clear but it's headed directly for myself, Sam, Mike, Billy, Nelson, Pete, Mario, Mat, etc etc. 99% of the LA Z Club is right in the path.
  14. Managed to get ahold of one of the much sought after intakes: and I'm going to try and get this jdm header to work one way or another just felt like sharing since I can't work on the car while the hurricane is looming (everything is put up to fit both cars in the garage.)
  15. I watched the first one, and only had a vague idea of what was going on. I think I have a better idea now than when I was reading the manga though. Too much Kanji! And with the manga it's really hard to tell if he's having a flashback, or what. The shots of the Z running on the interstate were incredible. I will be watching them over and over. Thanks again for the trouble, Owen.
  16. Owen, thanks a billion. Can you tell us what order they're in? Thanks!
  17. I know a guy who is looking but he will have to at least have some pics and and asking price up somewhere... I would have an FD if I didn't commit myself to one chassis.
  18. Smartest thing a ZX owner has ever said! And if god hates you, don't worry, the flying spaghetti monster loves you: http://www.venganza.org/
  19. I have new ARP studs to use, don't worry Brandon. I just talked to a friend of mine who saw it in person. It's his opinion that the bends are too bad to risk it. I think he's right, why risk it even I lose every cent I spent, if the whole rest of the engine is at risk as well. I'm sending it back... Yo - I am not replacing the L2"7" gasket, that engine is fine. But I have 2 Z's, you know.
  20. HIGH FIVE! Once I get the adj rear arms on I will have some fun with that myself.
  21. http://forums.hybridz.org/showpost.php?p=564394&postcount=14 Posting in case people are not paying attention to my updates in the other thread. I need to make a decision very quickly about whether or not to let the UPS guys take it for inspection, so I would really appreciate more experienced member's opinions. Thanks! -Forrest
  22. Pics are big so here are links: http://members.cox.net/forrest280z/hg1.jpg http://members.cox.net/forrest280z/hg2.jpg http://members.cox.net/forrest280z/hg3.jpg http://members.cox.net/forrest280z/hg4.jpg
  23. You think? it's got a noticable bend in the middle and it's curved up at the ends like the box. I have heard all the horror stories about metal gaskets not sealing. There are no kinks but I'm not sure if that bend in the middle is too sharp... It was perfect before it was shipped too! I talked ot the guy and he said the UPS store people were like "DONT WORRY, IT WILL BE FINE...we'll just write "do not bend on it"" Dang it all they had to do was use a 1" deep box and I'd have nothing to worry about. Geniuses!
  24. I wish I could post a happy ending to this story, as it was a good deal. But unfortunately, the guy didn't realize that you can't ship a headgasket in a flat box. Even though I made a POINT to ask for shipping cost with a lot of protection to stop it from getting bent...well...you cansee for yourself what happened: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRGH!!!!!!!!
