  1. Well, with enough money, anything is possible. Start saving up a ton of money!! Well, those motors are setup for a FWD car, so transmission is going to be a major problem. There are no kits to make it a "bolt in". Also, those motors (along with the Aurora V8) that have some miles on them are total crap. They have a problem with coolant leaks and headgasket issues. I don't think that taking off the EFI and trying to adapt a carb setup of some sort makes sense. Well, I'd say there isn't a chance that you'd be able to do that transplant, unless you pay a shop $100/hr to do all the work for you. Good luck with that. At least you have a dream!
  2. I have run them on the street and have to say that there are 2 issues with them. As mentioned, wet weather is a bit of a problem here in the Northwest. As for mileage, that depends on driving style, roads taken, etc. I know several of the 510 guys down in the bay area that have always run DOT race tires and typically get about a year or around 12,000 miles. These tires also have a bad tendency to track with the ruts in the road and are pretty bad with road noise in the car. It's usually less costly to have a dedicated set of race tires and a good set of street tires, as both will last longer. Just my experience.
  3. I would have to agree! It's taken me a while to get used to the 16x7s (with 225s) I have on my car and once it's back together and sits another 1 1/2" lower, it should look pretty good. I was looking and not using them and going with 17s and might still do it, but I'm sure the ride quality is better with the 16s.
  4. Very cool. I still think the hood should be a bit wider and fenders narrower (on the top). Is it just me, but in the pic with the straight on shot of the car from the rear, do those rear tires look a bit narrow? It'll need some meats on it, if it has real power. (it better!)
  5. As I mentioned previously, I've found that the heat from welding the nut on there is the key. It usually breaks things loose very well. Get a big nut that will just slide over the end of the thing and then fill in the center section. It'll glow hot, let it sit & cool a bit, them crank it off. (hopefully) As for any oil, it not really combustable & won't start a fire with a wire welder or a gas torch. Just clean around the area and have at it.
  6. No, the batch I had made up was a single run deal. As for Ross' rear brace, if the stock brace is removed & you use this new one, it should fit. The above pic shows just a section of the stock brace removed. In this pic, you can see how it would work and it could most likely be notched for clearance, if there was an issue. I thought I read or heard that this brace is made to clear the R200 finned cover, too!
  7. It looks like the new brace that Ross is coming out with may be the answer for you. I took these images from the "Complete R200/R230Viscous Differential Mounting Packages!" thread in the Vendors section.
  8. You'd need a pretty big nut, but welding it on is the best way to go. Also, the heat from the welder often breaks things loose due to rapid expansion. It has always worked for me when I snap off a bolt. Good luck!
  9. I know my 540i gets 27 mpg hwy and only 8 mpg on the track (road course). I bet he used up $10 worth of gas in that little stint!
  10. Yep, got them pretty quickly. Ross has a U.S. and Canadian supplier, so it saves quite a bit of time in shipping. You won't wait too long on these, as most people have them in 3-5 days, from what I've heard from others who have ordered them.
  11. My Z31 CV adapters showed up from Ross! Very cool pieces, indeed! They came with all the hardware....as advertised.
  12. Well, if you bought the CV adapters, they come with nuts & all mounting hardware.
  13. Well, I was in Spokane, WA last weekend when it was 72 there and low 80s here in Eugene. This week, we get snow both nights this weekend. It's damn cold working on the Z in the garage, too! I'm thinking that May better give us some nice weather!
  14. Well, I installed the wiper assembly & cowl, then had my buddy come over and we put on the hood, inspection lids and aligned everything. I'm still waiting for the rear wing from the body shop, as the painter dropped it when we were loading everything up and had chipped the corner of it. Once the wing is on and the glass is installed, at least it will look a bit more complete.
  15. I'm in the same boat. I've found a local place that has small solenoids and have made up a way to have it pop the hatch. I'll keep you posted and let me know what you come up with.
  16. I thought I'd post a pic of an actual Torsen-Gleason unit, as they are not very common!
