Thanks for the responses guys! My goal is pretty simple, I guess I could start with porting the head and go from there the itb's is more for doing something different I know there's no huge gain. MPG's would probably fly out of the window if I put ITB's on, I may even go add the LD28 crank. I'm not looking for huge hp number just want to help the L24E respond a little better. I know an L28 would be a better choice but that's a the very last of my choice on my list. If all really fails my second choice would be a RB30DE with a RB26 head, header & itb's but that might be a lot more than what I can afford right now. I also wanted to add that I have the stock solid rear axle H190 3.70 gears.

I have a 79 810 wagon that I purchased the beginning of last month has the original L24E was a 4 speed manual now has a 83 280zx 5 speed other than that it's completely stock. The 810 runs and drives strong how it should with no problems other than a minor small muffler leak. My plan is to keep the original engine because it's such a great engine. I want add some power to it, exhaust since it's the old 30+ year old one and a header. I want to keep away from turbocharging it and keep it N/A along the lines of keeping it fuel injected as well. I wanted to run a good sized exhaust 2.25" maybe 2.5" if i don't lose power at that size, a camshaft & some ITB's. Anyone have better insight on making some power on the L24E I appreciate the help.

Yep another Bob Sharp Racing Valve cover on eBay
ArchetypeDatsun replied to ArchetypeDatsun's topic in Non Tech Board
What I ment was If it's $3500 now I'm sure 5-10 years from now maybe $5-6 or 7 thousand? I doubt people will forget the rarity even now days on these kind of items but as you said rare doesn't mean valuable. I don't fabricate but I admire the people that do, I've bought items that were pretty spendy never complain since I had the money. I guess for me it's strange to see these valve covers go for that much last year what $250 and up from a few I have seen clean or dirty. I'm not cheap as I said if money is not an issue I'll buy it. I've had some expensive stuff that sold and not make a profit to just help the next guy for parts or something they were looking for that benefit them to have. -
That's one of the cleanest 2nd gen 510 I've seen in a while I'm not the biggest fan of those but done right they look very nice. I'm a early 510 fan the 68-72 510's or 610 for that matter. If you look around Craigslist there's a few 810 wagons in NY area, one in south Dakota and a 810 coupe in las cruces Texas area. If you want something with more guts than a 810 is a great car, can't go wrong with the L24E's but hard to find clean I love the power on mine though.

I'm not against people making some extra cash but with these kind of items who knows how much they will go for in the future if it does sell for asking price. -
Putting the lowering blocks on the rear to finally have it completely lowered all around, this is just one side got the other side to finish.

So I'm also registered to zdriver and noticed a guy wanting to find out the value of his valve cover he pulled off his 280zx that did not cost him nothing. It only took one guy to say "hey i saw go for $3k not to long ago" well if I wasn't surprised it went up on eBay. I'm all for making some money but this is ridiculous to me. Take a look at the eBay listing and give me your opinion on his asking price, fair or not fair? Also read the description. http://www.ebay.com/itm/181096969340?item=181096969340&viewitem=&vxp=mtr Here's zdriver forum post http://www.zdriver.com/forums/sale-view-all-69/bob-sharp-cam-cover-oil-cap-steering-wheel-sale-37230/ Zcar forum post http://www.zcar.com/forum/10-70-83-tech-discussion-forum/316809-bob-sharp-racing-cam-cover-steering-wheel-oil-cap.html

Snap shot of the engine bay good ol' L24E And a night shot.

@280zxNick I've seen your car on YouTube nice ZX definitely the cleanest brown ZX I ever seen looks gorgeous wheels fit it nice.
-
Thanks guys, my plans are to put the lowering blocks back on the rear to even the height of the front, coilovers for the front, touch up a few imperfections, clean up the engine bay, and find a nice air dam that will fit, she is pretty straight and immaculate runs real good. I also want to find a 2400 ohc valve cover and polish it up and do coil packs, fuel rail, itb's, header & exhaust thinking twice pipes or blasterpipe. Kinda want to keep her mostly stock or keep the same engine maybe future idea will pop up.

bought this 1982 280zx with Kaminari Wide Body kit...
ArchetypeDatsun replied to Xerxixez's topic in S130 Series - 280ZX
You could easily make those numbers, there is more than enough info here just use the search feature all this has been done before plenty of times since NA to turbo is pretty common for those who can't find a L28ET depending on the year of your Z L28's have a higher compression I wouldn't go more than 10-13 psi. You would just be surprised in power my L28ET swapped 280zx easily blow an 07 mustang gt doors off with less power and mine is mostly stock. Here's something you should read: http://xenons130.com/l28et.html -

Just make an account on Photobucket and upload the pictures and use this copy it and paste in the reply box. If you want it to go fast you can always do a L28ET swap or just turbocharge the stock L28 just needs all the turbo parts from the turbo engine, ECU and harness. Its fun and still pretty fast. -

I saw this car on CL, there was another kaminari it was a coupe on eBay don't see it anymore. Even being a 2+2 I would mind having it with some Rota RB-R wheels and lowered would look killer. -

WTT 280zx turbo for 77-80 Datsun 810 Wagon

I will be putting the Z tomorrow for sale I hope to sell it this week need to pay bills -
I'm not 100% on the difference (if there is) on the N/A CV axles & turbo CV axles far as I know there the same beside the differential. Far as swapping the U-Joint for CV axles it's pretty straight forward.
-
Nope mine swapped right into place the only thing I replaced was the cv boots.

I got a 81 280zx with a 83 280zx turbo drivetrain.
