  1. Thanks for the offer Keith Well right after I posted that I took my "lunch hour" in the garage and pulled the motor and trans. After 5 I'll go out and clean up the mess Joe
  2. Started the audacious task of pulling the LS to give the engine compartment the cleaning it deserves. Paint and wire tuck are on the agenda. Now to wait for someone to give me a hand so it doesn't smack the crap out of the firewall Joe
  3. If you want it done right and not take a year to complete, you pay. The price included the long tubes. It's actually the going rate in this part of the country. This is where the work was done http://www.americanracingheaders.com/
  4. The complete exhaust was just under 4k. It was started on a Monday and finished on Friday of the same week. Length was determined purely by space limitations and ease of installation/removeal. Although hurricane Sandy did take 4 vehicles from the owner, the Z was not one of them as he did take precautions to protect it and all of his collectable motorcycles. Once we take care of this mess, I'll post more about the car. Thanks for your generous offer, Keith. I'll let Dave know and have him contact you directly to discuss. Joe
  5. Sounds like it's going to be a nice motor! If you keep the cubes at 346 it will basically have the same hardware as my motor. Then it's all in the tune. I've tried 2 different tuners so far with a third coming up in a week or 2. 20HP between the 2 tuners but the one with the lower numbers is way more driver friendly. I'm hoping the third guy can find some of that lost power and keep the driveability I have now. Joe
  6. What's with the question mark, Keith? I'm hurt that you weren't sure it was me that sold you the control arms! Well not really LOL Anyway, great shot of the car hooking! Joe
  7. All I can say is how can you people who live in the southern states ever deal with multiple storms? We have a lot of areas that are totally devastated. The town where my summer home is and where I have spent the last 48 summers, is virtually gone. I'm not expecting much when we are finally allowed back on the barrier island as the news pictures shows many houses completely gone and those that are still standing moved off of their foundations. Lucky for me, I only lost the shed roof, a fence, a few trees and power at my year round house. I can't say the same for some of the other Z brothers in NJ. Some who live in the hardest hit areas I have yet to be able to contact. Hopefully everyone is okay and I'll try to let HybridZ know what I find out. If you live in NJ and see this message, please post something! Joe
  8. I think I figured out what is going on. Give me a call.
  9. 29" from flange at the head to the collector. Joe

    Torsen diff

The clicking isn't coming from the ring gear to pinion tolerances, it is coming from the gears at the end of the crosscut gears. No way is this as loud as the "Datsun clunk". I guess I am just being picky. Joe
  11. That "Hockey playing prohibited" sign is very ironic right now.

Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't sell mine. By noisey I mean it clicks. By no means am I knocking it at all. It's a great diff! Joe
  13. I'm not sure they will make a set without having the car but it's worth a call. The guy's name is Nick Joe
  14. Well we really don't know what it is like to drive since it's only been down the street once The car is currently at the exhaust shop. Long tubes are finished and the exhaust is being worked on now. Joe
  15. By any chance did you change air cleaners? Some of them will hit the manual rod and force the choke closed when you put them on. Taking the air cleaner off and opening the choke manually will allow the car to run fine but when you replace the aircleaner and tighten down the wingnut the aircleaner will hit the choke rod and close the choke again. Just a thought. Otherwise replace the cable as suggested above. Joe

Yeah I have one. A little noisey but pretty much indestructible. What did you want to know about it? Joe
  17. Dan, It's a 2300. if you decide to upgrade, let me know. I'd be interested in the 112. Mark, stock 70-72 240 bumper on the back of the 280 with mounts from one of the vendors here. An early 260 front bumper on the 280 front using stock shock absorber mounts. On the rear of the 260, I used a center section of an early 260 rear bumper mated to 240 end pieces. Used the stock shock absorber mounts but drilled and collapsed them. On the front I used a 70-72 front bumper and 70-72 mounts. Joe
  18. Mike, I'm sure Clive will take the heads and rockers off of your hands. He's been looking. Shoot him a PM. Joe
  19. If I did that now it would delay the daily purchase
  20. Well I don't know how long it will take but the "Supercharger fund" has accepted it's first deposit
  21. Yeah it did. And that is with the stock LS2 tune. I can't imagine what this is gonna be like once it is dyno tuned. So far I'm very impressed. So now we just loaded the car on a trailer and it's off to American Racing Headers in Amityville, NY for a full long tube header and dual exhaust setup made from mandrel bent stainless. I'll take pictures when its finished but for now, this is the last picture for a few weeks Joe
  22. Tony, The signal is simple Hz nothing clean about it. This is the piece you speak about that they can supply for people without an ECU signal that want speed sensitivity. Joe
