  1. New experience for me. I don't sell them
  2. 2 tie wraps on each injector in a crisscross pattern will hold them in the rail when the rail is not bolted to the intake manifold. I'm about 99% sure the drop in pressure is fuel going back to the tank via the fuel pumps. Joe
  3. Well I guess it's official, the 260Z is gone. I drove it to its new owners (EvilC) garage last night. Although it has an outdated drivetrain and runs on taller, older tires which bothered me some, I have to say that car has the tightest chassis I have ever driven in a Z car. Still not sure how I feel about selling her. Joe
  4. It connects to the cigarette lighter. It's the end of a fiber optic to light the lighter receptacle. Joe
  5. I get an error message that my request cannot be processed.
  6. They go back to the dealer to replace tires and lightbulbs! I'm having trouble creating an account on EPCnet and won't dare ask for help for fear of the "why do you need an account there? Just go back to the dealer." responses. Joe
  7. You really never know how much you appreciate this site until you visit other sites. I've been lurking at some of the MB sites for the C63 and all I can say is wow. Most of the people on those sites have more money than brains. Most of the posts over there would end up in the ToolShed
  8. I use EFI Live and it it is also credit based. Joe
  9. Contact EvilC. He has one for sale. Joe
  10. Hood latches are in with a little help from the PDK strut bars
  11. Well I've had a PDK strut bar sitting in the attic for a few years now and figured I'd start the install. It's a weld in and I just had the engine compartment painted so welding was out. I got a little creative. Not finished yet but what do you think so far?
  12. Hey Lotus, been a long time! Are you still planning on using the Electromotive TEC II? Joe
  13. Keith, Are you using the small diameter JCI driveshaft and long nose R200? That's what I am using with the JCI mounts and have no driveshaft issues.
  14. In my car, (78 280Z) a half inch wouldn't cause any additional interference and the driveshaft would still work, although it might be tight when installing. Joe
  15. Thanks guys, I pulled the trigger. She's resting comfortably in the Ragno garage Joe
  16. Hi guys, the time has come for me to get a new daily and have been thinking about a Merc C63 AMG. Has anyone owned one? There are 3 cars still on the short list (C63, M3 and CTSv) but I'm really leaning towards the Merc unless someone can come up with something I haven't thought about as to why I shouldn't. What I'm looking for is something with 4 doors, and an automatic that has more horsepower than a small locomotive As the first 2 requirements will be my first in 48 years with that configuration, I'm really out of my element here. Thanks guys! Joe
  17. The diff should be positioned slightly back from the wheel hub. This was moved slightly back by Datsun in 72. I just some measurements on my car. My ride height at the back of the rocker in front of the rear wheels is 7 inches from the bottom of the pinch weld to the ground. I run 18"350Z wheels which also plays a part in where the hub sits in realtion to the ground. I also took a measurement from the ground to the diff mounting bolts. There I have 12 5/8" between the ground and the bottom of the bolt that comes through the mustache bar. I'd take measurements on your car and compare them to mine. I'm sure you are going to find that your diff is much closer to the ground than mine. Joe
  18. What difference does it make how long the strut tube is if the ride hight is correct? Reading back through this thread it looks like the angle of deflection on the axle is too great with the diff side being way to low at ride height. The only way this can occur is if the ride height in the back of the car is incorrect and the ass of the car is dragging on the ground or the diff is mounted incorrectly and is way to low. Joe
  19. Sorry for not posting this sooner but IMO the problem is being caused by having 2 sliding CV joints. You need to have one fixed and one slider to have the axle work correctly. With the full floating axle that is caused by having 2 sliding joints, the axle will try to walk in the direction caused by harmonics created by the twisting motion of the diff. Joe
  20. Connect, Having something that could also monitor and or manipulate the ECU would be something I would be very interested in. Have you thought about something that could do that? I'm parcial to the GM ECU as well as Electromotive. Joe
  21. Necessary, no. You can turn on the compressor with a toggle switch if you wanted to. I could be wrong but I think 240's relied on a vacuum actuated anti stall dashpot that raised the idle when the AC was on.
  22. Hmmm, I'm for certain not an expert here and I do not have the setup mentioned in this thread, but why would someone go through the trouble of making custom axles and then require the purchaser to install the cages in reverse to make more clearance? Wouldn't the company just make the axles the correct lenght? That being said, I think the cages should not be reversed which would move the bearings closer to the center of the cups. Also, since the two sides of the car are acting differently ( one side has the wheel side damaged and one side has the diff side damaged) it would appear to me that axles do not have a physical stop inserted. When you removed the axle did the cover (pictured in the first picture of the first post of this thread) have a raised button in the center protruding towards the axle? This is there to keep the full floatnig axle from moving out of it's comfort zone. Joe
  23. I didn't take the mount out when I did my install. Just hit it with a Sawzall from under the car. The 240 chassis and 280 chassis are different animals. Where 1TuffZ had problems with his 240, I had no issues when installing in a 280. I did have to remove the bolt that holds the motor isolator to the Johns Cars mount and jack up the drivers side of the engine a good 2-3 inches to get the header to slip in . Once the engine was lifted, the header went right in. No issues at all on the pass side. Dropped right in over there Joe
