  1. Whoa, I just got the price for this. $600. I'm still going to have mine made. If you still want to do it let me know and I will put you in touch directly with the company making it for me.
  2. I have swapped covers on a Q45 with an R200 that came out of a Z. Can you tell me what you are referring to? The only thing I have ever seen different is the provisions for the speed sensors on the Q diff. Obvoiusly, since this is a Z forum, the covers won't have those.
  3. They will fit both the short and long R200 diff.
  4. Besides the obvious bling, the idea behind the billet cover is additional strength, additional capacity and cooling. I'll let everyone know an approximate cost once the billet block has been purchased. Joe
  5. yes, extended diff cover with extra capacity. Joe
  6. Is anyone up for a billet diff cover? I'm going to have one made since it seems the stockers, after 40+ years, are not up to the amount of torque we are putting through them. Joe
  7. I went crazy troubleshooting a situation just like this and it turned out to be the stock wiring to the pump. Seems it would heat up enough when the pump was running to increase the resistance in the wire effectively shutting down the pump and reducing fuel pressure. A temp wire to the pump and letting it run in the driveway while monitoring fp will tell you if your wiring is ok or not. Joe
  8. Thanks guys! The tuner will tell me how much boost I can run before heat soak becomes an issue. I'm still running the stock intercooler although I did go overkill on the heat exchanger. 8 lbs to start.
  9. I hate when people don't keep their threads updated so here is what I decided on
  10. What I don't understand is it's not a stock car so why not replace the crappy AM radio. I know what I'm going to hear is "I listen to the engine" but come on. Does no one turn on the radio when they drive?
  11. +1 ^ this guy! Wish you lived closer. I wouldn't let you quit and it would be running now.
  12. IMO a dead ended system is not the preferred method. A deadended system will allow the fuel to get hotter than a looping system creating a system that can be suseptable to vapor locking. The second thing to think about is anything that gets in the line that is not supposed to be there has to go through the injectors to get out of the line. Run out of fuel and the air that is in the line must go through the injectors before fuel can get to the injectors making it very difficult to restart. Joe
  13. TimO?!!?! Now there's a name from the past! I agree with you 100% and then some. Way back when this was a place where there were no "experts". We came here to talk about what we were trying to do because we like to tinker. Opinions about how others were building their car were never posted unless asked for. If someone saw someone doing something that was going to get the original poster in trouble, they were told via PM and the original poster would fix the original post. Now it seems opinions fly all over the place and everyone here seems to have forgotten that there is no "best". We are all here because we like to make changes and to read about how other are going things. For how long I've been a part of this forum, I really don't post here much either. But I do read. I have been following Mike's build since it started. I've kidded him about the length of the post calling it a blog at times but I did like following what was going on with the car. The opinion stuff about Porsches and comparisons to Datsuns not so much but it did make for a good read. I'm sure not so much for Mike but for me it did. So from what I can tell and to get this post back on track and be relevant to the thread, after years of trying to get his Z sorted, the last set back was the last for this car under his ownership. For all of the crap that has gone on in the 65 pages of this build I'm impressed he lasted this long! And Mike, although you say now you are done with Z cars, you aren't. As long as this thread remains on Hybridz you will always be a part of the Z community. Good luck with selling the car and keep the shiney side up with whatever you are driving! Joe
  14. If the springs are the originals, I'm sure they have lost some of their original specs. New OEM springs would restore the original ride height. 280Z lowering springs would make the front lower than a stock 240Z and wouldn't work at all in the rear as they have a different length. Joe
  15. Something is wrong with how you current suspension is set up. Swapping to a sbc with a 4 speed will not make the front drop at all. That setup is +/- 50 pounds from the stock engine and trans combo with more of the weight rear biased than the stock setup. Joe
  16. Man that looks great. Nice score! Looks to be really anal about the cooling and oiling system layout. I like! What are the plans for the other car now? Joe
  17. That's just Keith's way of saying "I'm getting a woody over here, show me some numbers!". You'll get used to his sense of humor the longer you hang around. It's all good. Joe
  18. Is that MetLife Stadium parking lot?
  19. It obviously would depend on price but I'd be interested if they made one that would fit around the stock AC exchanger. Joe
  20. If you pick up an accessory drive kit, an oilpan and pickup tube from a 98-02 F body, and use the AC mounting kit and compressor from JCI you will be good to go on the LS6. To make things simpler, use the T56 from the same year F body. Joe
  21. I'm interested in what you are thinking for sizing on a custom unit. Do you have a manufacturer or builder in mind? Joe
  22. I'm running a 1900 on an LS1 that I have been piecing together to save some money. I don't want to go to Magnuson for a heat exchanger since they charge over $600 for the one in the GTO kit. Has anyone used a heat exchanger from another source? Joe
  23. Mike, What is the shop name? I'm thinking of replacing my skinny ass JCI driveshaft. I don't think it will last too long with the blower!
  24. Well for maneuverability <SP> when parking the assist is perfect but I would like to lose some assist the faster the car is moving. At highway speed I'd like to not have any assist. I've screwed around with the assist control and it appears my tastes for assist are pretty linear. Max for parking, no assist at any speed over 40MPH. Joe
