  1. you could always paint a section of the engine bay red and see if you like it. if it doesnt turn out well you could always paint it black. by the way, excellent job so far man. keep it up!
  2. Compared to the 2.3L motor, yes. The Lima motors bottom end is a beefy cast iron block with forged internals thats balanced from the factory. Thus resulting in being able to handle large mounts of HP in stock form. The aftermarket is huge, because the motors are used in sprint cars and mini dirt classes racing. Also its a popular swap for personal sand rails.
  3. Well, I think Im going to put up my SBC parts up for sale. Hell even my q45 rear diff. I think Ill be fine with a ZX rear end. Going to bite the bullet and be different! Unless a 383 falls into my lap magically
  4. L24. Dry, No AC/PS, No FW/Clutch 362.8 lbs SR20DET. With aftermarket clutch, top mount exhaust manifold, external wastegate, cast pan, oil, and alternator. 349.8 LBS Internet weights being what they are (even though Braaps weights i trust) take them with a grain of salt. I couldnt find a l28et with no transmission weight so I used a standard l24. The SR20 will be lighter than a Lima motor, but my guess is that the Lima is the same if not lighter than a L28et, but not by much.
  5. V8intheZ noted that his 2.3 weighed 378Lbs with Full long block-valve cover to oil pan Full intake manifold with rail and injectors Complete turbo and manifold Air Meter Starter Alternator and bracket -NO flywheel/flexplate or transmission I'm on m iPhone at work and I don't have time to look up and post/compare weights between the SR20 or L6 Turbo. I'll get on it when I get home.
  6. A few people have suggested to me the 2.3L turbo motor from Ford that where in the Turbo Coupe's and the SVO's. I rode in one installed in a 510, and it was one of the most terrifying car I have been in. It wasnt the fastest car Ive driven, but by golly it moved! From what Ive read, its a stout motor. Able to produce impressive numbers in stock trim. Even more impressive with some money thrown into it. Parts seem to be cheap and plentiful because of the SVO and dirt track racers keeping the aftermarket alive. I wanted to turbo the car originally and when I looked into it, the l28et just wasnt cost effective for me. The money invested for the HP return just wasnt worth it in my honest opinion. But on the other hand I'd like to do something different instead of a typical small block. It seems from what I gathered, there has been a few attempts but only one forum member that has completed the 2.3l swap. Different and respectable horsepower. Thoughts?
  7. Called and spoke to a woman, says its a green from a type of Lexus line. Not the car unless its been painted already, which is doubtful. Ill keep an eye out on CL for parts for you.
  8. i respectfully disagree. http://www.air-attack.com/MIL/f22/f22kadena_20090117.jpg
  9. Those are Ronal multi piece R10 Turbo wheels. Id wouldnt take less than 2500 for them. You can still buy ronal caps for it too!
  10. The wheels are old American Racing wheels from the 80s. Nice find.
  11. And the whole time I thought Iraqis were shooting at me, but it was the sneaky Egyptains!
  12. I suggested the same idea in the other thread before Dan had a chance to reply. It's a fine system, which Cockerstar already noted they are already used on several paintball site like pbn and mcb. The VB software has several cool features depending on what verison is used. I always wondered if you played cockerstar. I personally have a weakness for AGD and half blocks
  13. i had them rebalanced today and it wasnt the issue. I hope my over sized and underline sentence makes it even more obvious that the shaking was a underlying issue made worse by more rotational mass.
  14. Good idea, ill check that also since my mount is toast. But I find it unlikely because the vibration was instant when I swapped wheels.
  15. so i still have the death shakes from 35-40 and 67-75. although the shaking is better with the new rack bushings (which ill also second the "pain in the ass" factor for install). the car always shook a small bit, but nothing like this. it happened when i swapped wheels to the RB-Rs. so the plan is to go get them re check and balanced. i need to replace the rack boots, so in the process im going to do ball joints and repack the rack and hope.
  16. jesse, i got some extra por 15 if you want it. its not much but it is enough to do the pass. floor pan once its welded in. but im out of the por15 prep/prime paint which is a must have for it to cure correctly. also i knew it was a top mount, but i didnt know it was a thunderbird IC. im going to hit the yards tomorrow for other parts but i can think of half of dozen different IC's that would work better (top mount or not). ill snap some pics and email them to you. dont rule out saab ICs, i believe it would sit better as a top mount. and not to be the devils advocte here but if you go with the 2.6 ill take the 2.8 off your hands... even trade you some wheels for it
