  1. So I have this Dyno at work that I use to do Horsepower / Torque curves for various electric and pneumatic motors. My buddy was telling me about his RC car and how fast it was when it hit me...why not put it on the dyno!!! The dyno has 1 input obviously. So my question is since the RC car actally has a LSD can I block one wheel and couple the free axle to the dyno? The other idea is to build a drum like is used on full sized dynos and set the whole rear end on it? The problem there is that on a full sized dyno the weight of the car holds it down right? I am afraid the RC will lift unless I apply a downward force which would make the motor work harder. I don't know that much about full sized dynos so any info / help / ideas are welcome and appreciated. Rufus
  2. Tim is right. I thought I only had a couple of spots until I stripped all the paint. Even spots that I thought were mint had some rust hidden. 305240 is right though...jump in and don't look back, as long as the two places you mentioned are solid the rest can be fixed. Good luck and keep us posted. How about some pics of the rust you did find?
  3. Congrats wheelman. It is cool you take the time to teach your son about something you love. i can't wait to do it myself!!
  4. Welcome!!! I too look forward to drooling over your work. How far along is the swap?
  5. I love it too!! How would you shorten a windsheild though?
  6. Has anyone ever attempted this? maybe not your Z but a differeent car? I have been looking into it, and was wondering if anyone had an opinion about it. I doesn't seem like it would be too hard. Just can't seem to find a good "kit" for it. It will probably have to be 0ne a them there custom jobbers!! It would be a cool thing ...IMO of course.
  7. I second that emotion!!! Nice color!!
  8. Very Cool!! Can't wait to check it out!!!
  9. John, Did you spray the POR -15? I used a brush for mine...took too long and some of it looked liked arse. I used the chasis black for the underside and wheel wells though. Kinda wish I had used the tie-coat instead....
  10. Terry, I know you love primer but the full paint really shows off all the excellent work you have done. I don't think you will ever be one of the guys though....you seem to be in a class all to yourself!!
  11. Started shaving my drip rails tonite. Not too tough. Thanks to Terry for the pics on his site but I did it a little different. I cut them really close and welded them really quick. I ground them flat and then would hit the spots that didn't bond again. Instead of seams I did a bunch of spot welds. It takes some time though. 3/4 of one rail over the course of two nights. I love how it looks!! I will post some pics on my site soon.
  12. If you are gonna strip it will take more than a weekend to do it right. I have been working on mine for 4 months!! Actually probably longer...I have lost count. She is bare metal now though...every inch!!
  13. Mike, Why haven't you torn off those bumpers yet? 4 quick swipes with a sawzall would do wonders for the big blue bouy!!
  14. Whoa no kidding!! Maybe you should cut out the spare wheel well like I did and build a small supporting frame to get that up a bit higher. Could definatrely pose a problem that low.
  15. I don't care for the first ones instead of rice I think...well I won't say what I think..but I do like the second ones alot. In either case thank you for posting them both. I have been looking into headlights myself and you don't know what you like till you see them. Thanks again!
  16. Cool man, wouldn't want to see you mess up your rating. Good luck with your Surgery!!
  17. Hey Dave, You don't have a reserve set on the auction. What if no one bids higher than the current $1500? You wouldn't let it go that cheap would you? I know you have sold things on ebay before but just wanted to make sure you knew about their policy if no reserve is listed. If no reserve is listed it has to be sold to the highest bidder. Rufus
  18. Much Much better....loosing the wing was a great idea IMO.
  19. Told you guys it was another scam ...sometimes it pays to be a pesimist!!
  20. Check out my ad in the Classifieds. http://hybridz.org/nuke/modules.php?op=modload&name=zClassifieds&file=detail&cat=61&de=575
  21. Phailure...what is that thing galloping next to your name? Looks like a mutated lhama..Ilike it!!!
  22. Great work man!! You should be proud!! I particularly like the "table / grid" you made in order to insure that the rails stay "true". Did you have any trouble welding the new heavier gage rails to the existing ones, or do the new ones continue all the way back?
  23. Dude AWESOME!!! I'll use my bosses terminology....never problems... always OPPORTUNITIES!!! If you didn't drive it you wouldn't have the opportunity to improve upon it. Glad to hear it is mobile. Maybe you could cruise it over the border and we can mess with it at my garage. I would love to see it. It has been awesome weather for driving. Think about it!
  24. Very Cool!! The front end is intersting...wouldn't mind seeing some more pics. I love everthing about these cars...except the door handle!!! Needs a shave!!
