  1. For spacers I took my old rotors, cut off thr top of the hat with a lathe and then used the lathe to thin it out until where I needed it. Heavier than aluminum but way faster than making them from scratch.
  2. "C" Clamp...looks like a "C"....not the ocean!!! Let us know how you make out. Rufus
  3. In addition to what DL said... if the tranny is not supported it wiil want to fall and will produce torque on those pins...DO NOT USE HEAT as aluminum burns!!! Try a few whacks near the pins with a heavy duty rubber mallet or plastic hammer. Rufus
  4. Thats what I am saying, the description is misleading to the point of being an outright lie!!! Tomohawk is correct... 80 with a core...I used my Datsun cals as a core... the parts dudes never look in the box and if they did, unless it was the same person that sold them to you they are cluless as to what caliper is what...they would be lucky to even know what a caliper is in the first place!!! It may be dishonest to use the wrong cal as a core but I have had to deal with so many parts "people" that waste my time either giving me the wrong parts, or just being plain useless, that it does not bother me at all. Years ago, when you went to get parts, the person behind the desk was at least somewhat knowlegeable...these days, it is just a bunch kids who's knowlegde is limited to chrome tail pipes and aluminum pedal covers!!! EDIT: If any of you guys are parts people...obviously there ARE knowledgeable parts people around...just very hard to find. When I do meet one, I remember their name, and then only deal with them at that particular store.
  5. No way!!! You can buy these calipers at your local parts store for 80 bucks a piece (at the most) and you can get the braided lines for about 50 bucks for the pair once again at your local shop. so 210 plus tax no shipping!!! These may be used as well I did not read the whole description as the font is way too small...I wonder if there is a reason for that?!? Rufus
  6. Did he say he carried around a bomb or did he say A-Bomb!?!
  7. VB has them new $25.00. You won't find one at an auto parts store. Rufus
  8. Not that I would know anything about this but... If you were to slash anyones tires (after following them home) always go for the sidewall...unrepairable...no one get killed like in a house fire... naughty...naughty AUX...
  9. THANK YOU DAN!!! See Tim it is not just me!! I thought the tops of the three gages seemed a bit higher now it has been confirmed. Must......have......fiberglass......240......dash..... Rufus
  10. So how is the 240 dash different from the 280?...I am embarresed to say I have never seen a 240 up close
  11. Tim, Is it just me or are the three center gages higher than in a 280?
  12. Goo Gone is basically citric acid, it works well but will also hurt clearcoat. I have had great results with vegtable oil and a soft cloth...It works pretty good in removing adhesive as well!!!
  13. There seems to be a lot of opinions both ways in regard to MSA. I have only ordered one small thing and got it right away... it was probably overpriced 3X
  14. ZR8ED, I don't think my car will be done by April but you never know!! I am definately interested in flying out so if you do find out about a group rate please let mr know!! What part of Cali is it it? Southern? Rufus
  15. Thanks Tim... I just realized there is a forum for this stuff...I actually never realized it. I would love to come out there and see some of the Z's you guys drive. I will look around in the event forum and see what is going on.
  16. Hey I see posts about the MSA shows you guys go to. When/where is it? I was thinking...maybe I could convince the wife to let me go and check it out this year...I would need to bribe her though.... Also are there other shows that are better ? If you could go to one, and be able to see a lot of Hybrids, which would it be? Thanks, Rufus
  17. YES!!! Finaly someone who thinks like I do!!! Must be all the time spent in the "hole"!!
  18. I was just getting ready to remove mine when I saw your post. I agree with you. Although I had a large banner in my sig I have removed it in favor of a smaller one because I was afriad of annoying someone. Rufus
  19. No AUX... you think it's funny!! Annoying is in the eye of the post reader!! You could avoid posts with JSR in the title but you read them for some reason!! I think that rotary swap is making you testy!!!
  20. Fuseable link. Kinda like a fuse but insulated and usually in the engine compartment. Tell your buddy to fess up and show you where the smoke came from. That is more than likely the place of the fuseable link. A battery would not smoke that quickly, if it did it was getting ready to blow. Rufus
  21. Check out this link http://www.hybridz.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=29215&highlight= Rufus
  22. AUX, I partially agree with the post that said "buy a cheap welder at sears and tack things together" DO NOT buy a cheap welder as it is a waste of money. However, if you did spend the $800.00 on a good one tacking it together yourself is a good idea. You would have a lot more luck getting someone who is a good welder to come by and do the final seams if you already had the tools you needed (Miller or Hobart welder) and of course beer never hurt. If I were closer I would jump in. Rufus BTW I think you should not abandon this idea as of yet. It is too cool. Yes expensive, difficult, and labor intensive but very unique and interesting.
  23. Jim, Do you guys do long sleeve shirts? I am sure you know how cold it gets around here!!! Rufus
