  1. .........And who said GOOD things don't happen ?? Can't wait to see whats gonna' be next ??? ...............Vince
  2. Believe it or not......If the prep is done well, the steel will rip or tear BEFORE the Dura-mixed area will even think about fractureing ! Quite an amazing technology .I was a non believer til I saw many junk yard proofs with my own eyes. Most large panels on cars today are built with similiar adhesives, you may not notice this because the damage is usually not where the adhesive held !! And I'm not kiddin'. .................Vince
  3. OOOOHH ! Don't do it that way, please !! Go to your local Paint store(O'reilyl's or the like) and pick up one of their small kits for "DURA-mix" autobody epoxy ! Its waterproof and stronger than the steel it surrounds. It even deadens "tinny" sounding metal. As long as you have cleaned the metal bare (2-pieces),you just apply the appropriate mix to your pieces and neatly smear it into place.Once its tacked up a bit, spread a "smoothing batch" over the existing visible edges an"VOILA" ! You'll be glad you did it this way !!................Vince
  4. To truly polish SS to a mirror finish,it's 3 times more time consuming than Aluminum for SURE and at LEAST ! I've been doing it for over 28 years (with the right eqpt. and without). The less commercial grade eqpt. you have ...the longer it takes.Period. Now thats if you have a good eye for detail. If you want to cheat time abit, perhaps you could mock up your pipes with tape(instead of the silicone couplers) and use a "magic marker" to make lines where you believe people won't be able to see. Then remove the pipes and begin sanding and polishing your ass off for as long as it takes. If you lack knowledge and Equipment, than just sand with grits of as aggresive as 220#(80-100 if worse marks or grain) in bad scratched areas then on down the grit scale (220-1500) and begin polishing with the tools you have access with(???) A car polisher and a 6" buff with white rouge will get it done ,but its all about technique ,time and tenacity ! Good luck,Happy Shining !........Vince
  5. OH YEAH !,.....now I remember why I work so hard !!! I don't have HIS garage yet !! Let me see....2 less hours a week sleeping, quicker dumps, more muti-tasking and "boom" HEARTATTACK ! I still would love to have the garage simmiliar and sweet.Gotta have dreams ! Right now,it's the ONLY thing keeping me going . ,...........Vince
  6. HOLY HUGE LUNG BATMAN ! Now your talkin, and "bar & plate" too ! Looks like you'll be fashioning up some nice aluminum flashing to get SOME air through the radiator now ,huh ? Very nice Joel(and James)....No boost worries with that badboy ! YIKES.....thats a big RAT too !lol ...........Vince
  7. I know this might come across as "ANAL",but everytime I'm going to be working in my engine bay,I use a an insulated soft (well stored) baby blanket held in place with large strong magnets (rare earth)! I know,I know..... seems like overkill, but when you've spent the countless hours it takes to prep, modify and prime and base/Clear that area of the car....YOU ONLY WANT TO DO IT ONCE ! It's worked for me for years and I do it religously.I also lay a folded large towel on or near the area where I can lay (or drop) my sockets or wrenches quickly and blindly. RAISE THE BAR....you won't be sorry ! .............Vince
  8. Mike, ya' better pull your oil dipstick and look to see if there is any water bubbles on it !! If there is, you've blown the head gasket for certain (( OVERBOOSTER)) If your not going to run aset of ARP headstud kits, better keep your boost below whatever you tossed your gasket at this "go-round" !! If your gasket hasn't shifted or begun to degrade from the event, you may be able to re-torqe your head and continue driving for some time. Otherwise, your SOL So do the right thing and pick up a set of ARP's for the head and a good gasket. Then you can boost a little higher ! You patient friend...........Vince
  9. I'm not too proud to admit that Bush is possibly the worst Presidential speaker I've seen in my life time.No doubt about his inability to speak publicly as smooth as Clinton or Kerry, certainly could be viewed as a BUMBLING IDIOT. But a smooth talker does not a task finisher make.(Yoda speak)lol. My family and friends have all lost lives due to the attacks and this war,I'm as angry as the next guy........but considering I'm usually politically alienated,I have to say,I just cant find the proper REAL CHARACTER values in either candidate, but even less in Kerry's shiftiness. I realize Political views for some are VERY passion filled ! I'm sure rightly so in their eyes for what ever reasons too ! Perhaps expressing our opinions on this site doesent present a healthy relationship for members, unless they remember"don't hate the voter, hate the voteless"
  10. I completely concur with your assessment for the most part. However when someone publicly beats the crap out of someones efforts while they themselves havent done anything but bitch, while the bashed continues to run our country,I for one ,have a hard time listening to them with an open mind. Something about "respecting effort" goes a long way for me ! Kerry's scored points did nothing to aid in making me a believer in his abbilities as any type of "REAL" leader. In fact, I think he'd "FOLD" under the actual responsibility before it was all done with. I bet GW is amazed that the race is so close, considering that he doesent give a darn about how his efforts make him LOOK,as much as how he FEELS he is doing. I have a gut feeling Kerry cares only about making a mark like a dog that pisses on every bush and pole just to say"I did that " ! I've worked with people who behave like Kerry, they are careless with other peoples time and concern and quick to point fingers to the "nose to the grindstone" types. IMHO: KERRY IS VERY.........UNBELIEVABLE ! oooooh,yes,........I DO feel better now. ..........Vince
  11. Hey Ed, Did you remove the small mount bars that the clips snapped into ? Several years back I welded the actual lids to the hood and removed all that lower hardware so as to have no interfearance or resistance pressure that might bend the new wings. I think it looks cool, good move ! The first stupid thing I did was drink several beers and open the hood to show a friend and rip my lips off on the wing when it came up .LOL So watch out baby !Or you;ll have a heavy speech inpediment for a few hours ! ,,,,,,,,,Vince
  12. OK, I gotcha' now..........you just don't have a chop saw and small 110 welder to tack weld your mock up,so you can have someone (available) to do the final heat !?? Sounds like J.C> may be willing to help out! Save Heart,,there are many obsticles to being original !.........Vince
  13. Aux, Any chance the stainless manifolds that SS Autochrome sells on Ebay would fit ?? Very inexpensive ,nice parts(my boss has purchased 3). Worst case scenario you could use all of the flanges for sure and cut and retack the rest to fit your application ? ..............Vince
  14. As I understand it(please correct where I might be off) When you go above the efficiency pillow or map,the level of heat and cavitation of air become inefficient from that point forward. Therefore becoming problemsome and ineffective. Of course your cam profile will effect at what point and RPM will make the rush to that pillow. (HUH ?) laughing.....Basically,a turbo's efficiency pillow is a view at the amount of flow in lbs. and the point at which it reaches your HP goals. ....................Vince
  15. I remember reading all those posts about bad dealings and was "Grateful" for the forewarning and name disclosures. I had brushes with these people and bailed at the right moment. It's like my dad said to me when I was a boy,he said" son,a man only has his "Word" and his "Dick",and if your word is no good I think I know what your going to try and do with your dick "! So if all efforts and the delay of time proves a scandalous sort......make the internet expose them for all they're worth,or the lack therein. .......................Vince
  16. "Self expression,in all cultures ,is always frowned upon by those who stand by and have none to express" The Japanese have a fondness for the "Animated" mind ! Thats all. The absurd is entertaining to them. But of course not to all of them. I always try to find "SOME" kind of entertainment in our culture differences even though I might never attempt to try those "STYLES" I always give an "A" for any job thats completed, but I still must concur with you guys and say "WOW".......so how much time did that take anyway ?? ..................Vince
  17. I believe Bernard Plett still has a few RB25's and 1 RB26 left in Reno Nevada for sale.He was so professional and helpful it was just great !He is a English teacher in Japan and comes stateside frequently to visit family and friends.I simply timed it so I could drive up from Missouri and pick EVERYTHING up at once.He can set you up with the 2WD tranny etc, etc. In fact he is where earlier mentioned BRAD D. ,in Canada bought his from as well ! So give him a shout ! (dfbug103@kcc.zaq.ne.jp ) He's a great guy to deal with. Tell him Vince sent you hunting for a RB,he's building a bad ass R34 as we speak ! Hey Jeff, try and send your pictures to me again, the last ones wouldn't open for some reason......bummer ! Oh yeah, I just ordered a R34 N1 oil pump from him for my AWD RB26DETT Widebody Z'...........tick,tick,tick,tick. ...............Vince
  18. Whoo Hoo ! Can't wait to go for a ride to dinner maybe Monday nite while I'm down in Houston this coming week ! (( 9/27-29th)) You'll be turning that boost back up with my 223lbs in there !! And smoke some local sleds ! I'll show you how to avoid those nasty little ditches too ! later...............Vince
  19. Joel S., I can have 3/8ths or 1/2" Stainless plate "water-jet" cut if you can send me your Tomei gasket. The finished product is great ! I'm in the process of building parts for my 98' RB26DETT thats going into a Widened all wheel drive S30 70'. I'll pay for shipping both ways if needed ! Just let me know if you can send it ?I'll bve very careful with it of course,.....Vince
  20. Bastaad, Just go to your local auto supply store, preferably one that supplies painters, and buy a couple of aerosol "Aircraft Stripper" cans. Set the IC out in the sun on a hot radiant day,and let it get as hot as it can, then spray the IC liberally everywhere it's needed, then quickly cover it inside a plastic bag large enough to fully enclose it. Leave it in the sun for about 2-4 hours(depending on wether your stripping Enamel or eurothane). Then go to the local Carwash and spray it clean and thorough ! And there you have it. .................Goodluck, Vince
  21. S30's ALWAYS look great in solid bright colors,so go for it if the color mkaes you smile inside ! It's the Mettallic colors on an S30 that start to get tricky, and can look FUNKY real quick ! Not to mention looking strange with wheel and trim combinations. I painted my Turbo 73' mettalic green 5 years ago and have never had so much trouble with any of my Z's making wheels look right with it !But FINALLY, found some that do it for the color ! Your polished mag looks great next to that solid green I'm sure the Black trim does too ! ........................Vince
  22. Thats SWELL MIKE ! Geez, thats hiding the DIRT great !lol I'm kidding of course,I know your lights were so dim they didn't show anyway !!!HA,ha. Jus' pokin'...............Vince
  23. Exellent Jeff ! Look forward to seeing you ! Be sure and check with me a few days before you leave (by cell ). I'm doing alot of short trips to Sacramento ,Dayton,Houston and so on.So I won't know til the last minute when I have to bolt ! For those interested,I've been building S30 Z's since 1981,and have ALWAYS wanted to express what I felt was the "Beast Within" a Datsun Z.So in that, I had always invisioned a Subtle width enhancement to make a more agressive stance (not to mention a handling gain). I love the vintage body and long nose,so I'll keep all of that styling and add a G-nose, Carbon Fiber ZG flares, rockers, doors, hood, hatch, cowl and air dam. The 18x 10.5 and 18x 13" 3-piece wheels I got from Japan are going to be the perfect stance !The rear width mounted on the GTR sub-assembly measures 73" rim edge to rim edge, even before I mount tires ! Thats over SIX FEET WIDE ! Now thats what I'm talkin' about ! Width that commands some respect ! Not for me,but the OLD Z"s. I chose the RB26 DETT all wheel drive GTR drivetrain because my personal experiance in my 91' GMC AWD turbo SYCLONE has been that all wheel drive with good horsepower RULES most race senarios. It has 287 WHP and this RB26 will have 650 ! So YES,I am SO stoked ! Thanks for the comments Z Guys ! ......................Vince
  24. How funny,I just ran across this thread while doing a search for something else. Jeff you should of told me why my ears were burning !?lol. Things on the "Widebody Z (RB26DETT AWD) are going ,just slow due to travel in my job ! I've collected all the Carbon Fiber and resin amd tools to work with that. A NISMO twin disc clutch,HKS light flywheel,18x 13" wide wheels, stainless steel square tube for the lower frame ,etc, etc. Jeff,I understand your 2WD swap is moving ahead full spead ?? ...............Vince
  25. Use you cursor to watch it in slow motion a few times.....his tailbone gets a good wack compression, and he's not looking at the camera for a "hey ,wasn't that awesome" response. He's looking away and then looks for his friends Hiku. I've been in martial arts and stunts my whole life, take it from me...it won't be long and his bones will be giving him lessons his father didn't ! It's a damn shame he's not going to be an Olympic hopeful with nerve like that ! thanks for the vidieo, any more ? Where was that vid. from site wise ? .............................Vince
