  1. Prox, if you haven't already welded up the straight runners to the flange, now is your chance to optimize the angle of the runners... in other words make them straight, and use the 180 degree bends to space your throttles correctly.
  2. If there is anything I learned from working on our schools FSAE project, is that you should FULLY design and draw up the part you want to make. Designing while fabricating is an expensive undertaking.
  3. haha... yes his car sounds like a small jet engine coming towards you in the parking lot. The fan was easily louder than his engine at idle. You commin back to SEZ (DNI) this year?
  4. What cylinder blew? I had the same setup (except with n42 block), 10:1 (thereabouts) compression with a stock cam (<--thats the kicker) And I blew the gasket running full timing in a 4th gear pull on the freeway. I think my total advance was in the 35-38 degree range at full throttle. Without changing anything other than the cam to a 272-282 split duration cam, I was able to floor the car without even hearing the "death rattle" The cam helps bleed off the compression. Now with megasquirt I run no more than 30 degrees BTDC total, until I get my car on a wideband. I would skip the MLS gasket and go for a cam, but thats just me also, another advantage to running a cam, is that you can use my map (which has been driving me around town everyday for about 4 months) as a starting point, or at least a reference point.
  5. The 951/944s2 front control arms (aluminum) have a caster adjustment at the rear part, something like an eccentric bushing that rotates it about the main pivot point, moving the ball joint end forward relative to the car. Also of note on the 944 steel vs. aluminum arms, the aluminum ones are at least half the weight of the steel ones. If you are getting a donor control arm, you might as well get the donor strut and hub. This way you get their camber adjustment (slotted holes where the hub bolts to the strut) rather than being stuck with one single setting.
  6. This has been discussed in length. But rather than searching for you, or telling you to search, I will just give you the gist of it and my experience with the taurus fan. The only way I got the 2 speed taurus fan to fit initially was on the front of the radiator as a pusher. It blew hard, and it cooled, but I didn't have it mounted flush against the radiator, so It spent alot of time on. The next time i tried putting it on behind the radiator, it wouldn't clear the balancer, so i cut it up. I left about 2 plastic supports holding the motor to the rest of the shroud, and most of the shroud was gone. I eventually ended up with a one speed 14" electric fan that mounts with zipties. It WORKS. Moral of the story: don't get caught up using something thats cheap, but will require several mods to make work, when you can get something that will do the job more efficiently, but only costs a little bit more.
  7. maybe when you weld it it will be pulled back flat. But thats gotta be like a 1/1000000 chance.
  8. Were you having problems with the megasquirt setup? Why did you go to carb?
  9. love the l6 cammin' at idle! i remember at sez8 this one guy showed up to the parking lot with an orange turbo 240z... that thing sounded soooo sick at idle. i'm sure you will put up a vid when it is installed again.
  10. ...or pass you and can't see them anyway because they're in front of you. tail lights look good by the way!
  11. http://233k.highmileage.org/sez8/sez8%20157.jpg the culprits.
  12. are you using new injector clips, or old cracked ones? You may have to check continuity in the wires. Secondly, are you getting adequate fuel pressure when trying to start? dumb question but did you plumb the fuel lines and FPR correctly?
  13. wouldn't that require a fuel cell, or at least a sump?
  14. Yes! I love this progress. How long are your runners? Have you considered clearance to the strut tower and/or brake shield? I measured 12.5" from the head to the first obstacle (allowing for a little bit of velocity stack) on my car. Also, are you just mocking and tacking? I was planning on making a jig for my setup, but I'm not going to be welding it myself. Looks great so far! edit: n/m i just realized what the tape was there for!
  15. Does it still say l28 in the stamp on the side of the block????
  16. I made revision... honestly though, it seems like a hybrid dead headed/inlet-outlet setup would work the same. also, I think i might have a 2 inlet zx FPR i can use to set the system up at first. Questions, comments, concerns?
  17. Made a few revisions.
  18. If i run the rails in series it would be end to end, I'm guessing you mean parallel? I'm hoping the stock size metal fuel pipe will supply enough fuel for these injectors. Well, the throttle bodies come with an injector in each one, so I would either have to fill the hole, or run an injector in there. Also, the throttle bodies will be roughly 6 inches from the head, and that gives the fuel a little more time to mix thoroughly with the air. yep! I think i got 28mpg ONCE after installing the megasquirt, and then after that my right foot just got too heavy The plan is to maintain basically the same map for the lower load region, since it will be the same injectors, just different way of getting air in there. I plan on running it on speed density at first, and I'm crossing my fingers that I won't have to do a whole lot of re-tuning because my car runs amazingly right now. The second table will control the second set of injectors, (dual table) and won't affect anything until 4000rpm and above 70kpa. prox, you can cut up the little pipes that connect the injectors in half and connect fuel injection hose in between the two halves (after you space the throttle bodies) to keep the fuel in the rail... easiest way to get the job done until you can fab up a fuel rail. Are you going to be running 12 injectors as well? i don't think the stock gsxr injectors will handle the needs of a L6 turbo.
  19. This is coming from the guy with all his mods listed in his signature... some people stick to the old street racer ways... "yeah it's stock..."
  20. I remember the black smoke, and it bieng fast... thats about it though.
  21. I'm going to be running a 12 injector setup, using my stock injectors and the stock injectors from 1-1/2 suzuki throttle bodies. Here is the first logical way that I can think of to run the fuel system, and maintain equal pressure at all injectors (while using the stock FPR) With the way the injectors will be firing, all 12 will be firing simultaneously for a very limited time, and the flow rates are 180cc/min (nissan stock) and 240cc/min (gsxr stock). Is there anything wrong with this setup? would any of you do it any other way? If so, why? <-don't you hate that question on tests?

    Fuel system diagram

This is a mspaint schematic of my proposed fuel system, for a 12 injector fuel system.
  23. I get no pics as well. Heh I got them... funny in that first pic your car has V-Tech!
