  1. In my recent side tracking obsession with lotus 7's I came across this little 7-based car: http://www.autoblog.com/photos/donkervoort-d8-gt/176811/ now I just have to find out where to get the hardtop and rear bodywork and I can make my own!

    it's like a lotus 7...
  3. We stayed at home through the storm, boarded up the windows we thought would break, and just sat through it. Where we were it wasn't too bad, in fact I slept through it all. The tree in the back yard lost several branches, and I spent the weekend helping neighbors move branches to the front yard for pickup. My Z is fine I parked it up by the house. There is no electricity at my house, but the university has power (and internet), 'cus we have a powerplant on campus. I have been using my bike to get around... in fact I put my car battery on my bike to power a pair of fog lights to ride around in the darkness. (it's dark at night in houston ) I just have to make sure to make it home before the citywide curfew. All in all we got out pretty easily. All reports indicate that Galveston got it the worst.
  4. Just need to weld up the manifold, figure out the spacing of the shafts and i'm in business, but i am lacking motivation in the project. seems like a whole bunch of other things are getting in the way.
  5. Hi guys, I've been scouring the net trying to find this piece with no luck. I thought I'd post here since its not z related. I need a male -10an on one side and 1/8npt teed off, and a -10an female on the other side. This is to read oil pressure off an oil cooler line. summit racing has one an o-ring seal on one end. Can I use o-ring male fittings with non-o-ring female fittings? That would probably the best option since that is a straight fitting. http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=MRF%2DMP%2D3063&N=700+4294843700+4294906745+4294906744+115&autoview=sku thanks Oliver
  6. heres mine, currently going through inventor install hell. p.s. no one said it had to be car related
  7. That was the problem with my 280z, but it's lowered just a tad. The solution at that point was to keep driving
  8. It's pretty obviously a l-series...

    very cool lookin z!
  10. I have to agree with this comment. On my install I just used two relays, (main and fuelpump) and they are tucked away quite nicely under the dash. I also made my own wiring harness, so there is only one bundle of wires running to the engine. When I add fan control, i'll just put in another relay, and it will still be much smaller than having a complete relay board.
  11. I don't know, I got the impression that what Tonyd described was not supposed to be flexible, but rather hard when it cured. Much like JB weld. Tony maybe you could clarify what you are describing?
  12. I would never convert a 944 N/A to a 951... again. They are indeed two completely different cars. Just rerouting the fuel and brake lines so they wouldn't get cooked by the turbo was enough to make me not want to do it again. Also, there was a lot of unwanted cutting and welding involved to make things "fit." I do enjoy the 944s as freeway cars though.
  13. I would suspect the brake calipers themselves. one might be sticking and not allowing full force. Make sure the pads are also in good condition, and there isn't any sort of residue on the rotor. my car was doing something similar, but it went away when I replaced the pads and bled the brakes thoroughly.
  14. The rubber is not strong enough to ruin anything that is in the bellhousing. You will be fine, and you don't need to pull the tranny.
  15. Sad news to hear. Hope you get her fixed soon.
  16. haha, yeah I understood that his boss was making them all learn megatune as well. I <3 my thinkpad + xp combination.
  17. Yasin, just think of the road bike $15,000 can get ya
  18. Hey guys. No progress Prox. I went to China shortly after school got out, but I will be back in late July with almost one month of vacation before school starts up again. Maybe I will get something done then. Pete, Making the inner runners slightly shorter would cause a mis-alignment in the throttle body shafts... (if I'm reading your question correctly). The solution would be to have slightly shorter velocity stacks on the inside runners. However, I think the goal would be to lengthen the inside runners, to match the length of the outer runners.
  19. I guess there is one thing that everyone is sort of forgetting about. If you really want to save fuel, and put out insane numbers, its going to happen at interstate speeds. This is where the Z fails, because of its poor aerodynamics. Take a look at any high mileage production car out there, and there have been sacrifices made for aerodynamics. The CRX hf had no hatch wiper and no passengers side mirror. The insight has EXTENSIVE aero consideration. Personally, if I was hunting for a car to "hypermile" in I would go for a Geo metro. as a side note, I was totally anal about logging all my fuel mileage numbers (i'm talking excel spreadsheet with correction factors here), until I realized that I wasn't having fun driving my car anymore and all I could think about was how poor the mileage was. The next thing to do, for me at least, was to stop logging the mileage, and not think about the mileage. Now I just enjoy the ride.
  20. ha! Imagine buying a 959 and sending it off to these people to have redone as an EV! ...of course the 959 bodied car they show is not the real deal.
  21. thats about what my z is worth. Per wheel. I'd rather have CCW any day.
  22. I read the same filter study years ago, and have run a bosch since my engine rebuild (over 3 years ago now). The engine still runs great, I just have to bite the bullet and pay almost 35 bucks just for the oil and filter. (Synthetic mobil 1) I can only imagine what the people running royal purple or amsoil have to pay per oil change!
  23. that will have a few people scratching their heads when he pops the hood.
  24. hehe none of them look like they are having fun Congrats on having your bike finish 4th! also, you have a pm about felt. (i gotta go write it first)
