  1. The third 10A fuse down on the left side of the fuse box is ign. switch to ign. relay to 10a fuse to the fuel warning lamp and to tha volt/ fuel guage . THE yellow-blue from the fuel warning light goes to the fuel tank unit. The feed from the 10a fuse is split to the fuel guage and the yellow wire supplies pwr to the fuel unit from the volt/fuel guage. Let me add this to the above. The tank unit has a float that moves up and down with a sliding contact that slides on a resistance that controls current flowing to the fuel gauge. The gauge moves with changes in current flow. The gauge has a bimetal arm and heat coil. When ign. swich is "on" current flows to the heater coil and the bimetal arm is bent, causing the pointer to move. The yellow wire carrying the current changes from the float movement moves the fuel level pointer in the gauge. LARRY
  2. Per my 78 FSM the black wire is ground ,the yellow-blue stripe wire goes to the fuel warning lamp on the floor console and the yellow wire goes to the fuel guage. LARRY
  3. Although I didn't have a starter for a 305 in mine, I had the same problems as Heavy Z did, so I put in a Chevy 3.0 HP competition mini starter. That baby spins the HELL out of the motor and no problems since. LARRY
  4. I love it....... What cracks me up is when they interview some of these "stooges" 25 years later they are living a more material world life than you or me. Then you have the ones who have to change their identity for crimes they have committed and they are living quite lives fooling everyone around them about their past. Son's Of Beeeeches. LARRY
  5. Yes the word is out..... "www.hybridz.com is an awesome source of information as mentioned above but they like new comers to use the search facility first then ask questions." Quote by ZHeadV-8 from Telford,England on the Classic Z Car Club site in the 240Z,260Z,280Z Disc. Forum in Sub-Forum- Modified Z Car. The thread is, V8 confusion, posted by ghostrider on 1-20-2005. Hybridz is mentioned in 2 posts on this thread. Too bad he gave the wrong site info..... LARRY
  6. Thanks for the replies guys.....I posted this on a whim as the political posts were getting old to me. Billz260---- It's never too late to learn. Buy a guitar, How to play book/ with tunes ,cords changes, and cord finger placement and you are set or there are some good internet sites. Remember alot of songwriters/musicians can't read music and play by ear or cheat sheets. If you know 4 basic cords( C,Am,F,and G} you can strum 90% of the tunes out there. lt1...... The pictures I posted awhile ago were not of my car but of a friend's car being tuned at the dyno shop. 8 sec. 1/4 mile 67 GTX. baddriver..... That story reminds me of ones told to me about long ago Z'S that are not around anymore. HeavyZ......Air Force regulations forbid the playing of banjos within 5 miles of a C-5 airplane. Zguitar71..... Great collection and let's see a pic. You've more talent then me and I like you story. If you notice my GUILD has pick and finger stroke marks on the opposite side of the guard. I learned to play a right- handed strung guitar upside down being that I am left- handed and dirt poor as a kid that was the only type guitar I could borrow. It was quite interesting learning cords upside down. Playing music is better for one's mental health then any medicine made........... LARRY
  7. Qne of the problems you sight is the 64k ram reading you get when you go to control panel-system. The general page has the registered owner of XP on it and that was his memory value when you got it from him. As stated before get a legal copy of XP so that Windows update works, not just because of the security updates but it looks at the reg. owners machine and updates your drivers, windows media player, ect. LARRY
  8. First let me say that anyone suggesting the the "unstable" ME is better than XP as a OS needs to do some serious research on that subject...... There has been reported problems with XP SP2 recognizing total ram. Go to this MS link for info. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;888664 In following Mario's directions the first page when you click system info is System Summary. Drop down the list and you will see Total Physical Memory. That is the ram your machine is recognizing. On some older motherboards they will not accept more than a 128k stick in a slot or they need to have jumper wires changed. A check of your manual or the manf. web site will give you this info. Also it is wise to not mix type/manf. of ram sticks when adding memory. As to the statement that XP is using all the ram even at idle........Free/unused ram is bad....... By design XP is trying to utilize all the memory and when an application comes in it swiches that memory to it . I paid for it and I want it used. How much RAM do you need for XP??? 256K min...........512k good...... 1G ideal. Compared to a few years ago RAM is cheap...... More ram .. more speed, of course to a point. I notice your processor speed is 700mhz so I'm guessing it is an older machine. The basic new DELL processor speed is 2.4ghz and what a difference that makes in opening/closing applications. There are additional ways to speed your computer up such as a reg. cleaner, deleting temp. internet files, optimizing your hard drive, checking your start-up programs, ect. FWIW LARRY
  9. There are 3 relays in the fuel pump circuit in the 81ZX na. Yes, there is in that circuit wiring in the engine compartment. Wiring direct to the fuel pump should be done for testing only because some of those relays are for pump shut-off when the rpm and/or oil pressure is lost, it's a safety feature when driving. You need to get the FSM and follow the troubleshooting guides of the engine fuel system. LARRY
  10. You might look at this link..... http://www.sonic.net/~kyle/buildup.html It gives the following breakdown for heads....E-31.. 70-71 240Z, E-88.. 72-74 240Z & 260Z, N-42.. 75-76 280Z, N-47 & P-79..77-83 280Z & 280ZX. LARRY
  11. My 12 string Guild acoustic, Hohner 5 string banjo, Ovation pre-amp electric, Fender Telecaster electric, and my 72 "tube" Fender Deluxe Reverb amp. I don't play now as much as in the 60's-70's but when I do it brings back the good old rocker days we used to have......... 8) LARRY
  12. From the album: COZY Z COLE & MY BROOD

12 string GUILD acoustic, 5 string HOHNER banjo, OVATION pre-amp electric, FENDER TELECASTER electric, 72 "tube" FENDER DELUXE REVERB amp.
  13. When I was at a friend's house, in the guest mode, video section was not shown but appeared after log-in....... LARRY
  14. I'm going to give one last shot at this.... Datsun is famous for using different model year parts so depending on your build date this could be the fuel shut off relay. Coming into the relay; Black is neg., yellow is pos. from alt./volt.reg. Blue and white/blue- one is + for a few seconds at start from the ign. sw. and one is + after 400? rpm from the oil pressure unit. This is to shut the fuel pump off if the engine dies while driving. Look under and at the rear of the pass. seat. There should be a connector with two green in and out. One set goes to the pump and one to that relay. If that's not it I give up..... LARRY
  15. Go to the bottom of the page and you will see a box with posting rules. Click on Smilies and you have to type the one you want in your post and when you submit your post that smilily image will appear. LARRY
  16. Two cowboys walk into a roadhouse to wash the trail dust from their throats. They stand at the bar, drinking their beers and talking quietly about cattle prices. Suddenly a woman at a table behind them, who had been eating a sandwich, begins to cough. After a minute or so it becomes apparent that she is in real distress, and the cowboys turn to look at her. "Kin ya swaller?" asks one of the cowboys. No, signals the woman, desperately shaking her head. "Kin ya breathe?" asks the other. The woman, beginning to turn a bit blue, shakes her head. "No" again. The first cowboy walks over to her, lifts up the back of her skirt, yanks down her knickers, and slowly runs his tongue up and down the woman's behind. This shocks the woman to a violent spasm, the obstruction flies out of her mouth, and she begins to breathe again. The cowboy slowly walks back over to the bar and proudly takes a drink of his beer. His partner says in admiraton, "Ya know, I'd heard of that there Hind Lick Maneuver, but I ain't never seen nobody do it." LARRY
  17. Had this happen on my 80 280ZX last year and my leak was in the heater core and this is no easy project. The dash must come out and while your there replace the hoses. Be careful with the plastic air ducts and vacum lines, esp. their routing. It's smart to have a helper with you. LARRY
