  1. Sounds interesting, I'll wait and see how it works for you. Are they willing to sell the boost referenced power valve by itself or do you have to buy the carb to get it. I've called other carb builders who have the BRPV but they aren't selling just the PV. The turbomustang.com guys swear by CSU and the 750 carb is recommended for big boost. I also modified my Power Valve Channel Restrictor passages but it ran too rich. I agree that the butterfly holes are a crutch but it works for me. Hanns
  2. Doc, I drilled 3/32" holes in the carb throttle blades to increase airflow at idle. This allows throttle plates to remain properly positioned in relation to the transfer slot. On the street The carb has 76 primary jets and 95 secondaries with a 6.5 Power Valve, primary only. Racing is 79/95 and no PV's. Vacuum is 12 hg, so I'm surprised it's so low for you with similar camshaft. You'll figure it out, keep at it!!! Hanns
  3. Great to hear it's running. Easy on the timing and plenty of fuel to start with. Hanns
  4. The pump is CSI. I got rid of my Black Magic Fan and replaced it with the Taurus. End of high temps.
  5. Cozy Cole and G/J, Are your superchargers boosting when the temps go up? Several weeks ago it was a 104* day when I got on the freeway. Temps stayed at 180* at 65 mph. However, when I returned to surface streets and idled at stop signs it shot up to 190*. I use an electric pump and no thermostat with "purple ice" and water for coolant. On hot days I only use the high speed setting on my Taurus fan. Maybe the difference is that I'm never "in boost" unless I want to be and then it's too much power to stay in it on the street. If you have no mechanical problems some type of hood venting should help your situation. Hanns

  7. Terry, Happy Birthday "Youngster". It doesn't matter how old you are so long as your car is fast. And yours is. Hanns
  8. Did you go skydiving before you broke your trans or afterwards??? If you broke the trans first, wouldn't you think, "Today may not be my day" and thus avoid risky situations. Or were you so distraught over the broken trans that you wanted to end it all? Glad to hear you enjoyed the dive. Hanns
  9. I'm not apologizing for helping to bring you over to the DARK SIDE....heh heh. Got any action pics or video of that beast???? Hanns
  10. Larry, Congratulations. I hope you stick with it. I have never smoked so I can't appreciate what you are going through. Good luck, and I hope this adds another 50 years to your life....we need you at Hybrid Z. Hanns
  11. I agree. Had to change my return line to 10 AN because the 8 AN line would not bypass enough fuel back to the tank. As a result, the 8 line caused too much fuel pressure to back up, my regulator could not handle it while sitting in traffic. DR Hunt, you need 10 AN return line for your application, if you drive in traffic. Hanns
  12. Yes, that was very special. And I was touched by how appreciative he was of our telephone call. There are not many people in the world who are as intelligent and coherent as he is at 97. Hanns
  13. Maybe I could remove one of my turbos so there would be one less "T" and I might be able to afford it. A one-piece HYBRIDZ gets my vote. Hanns
  14. When I was in Germany visiting my father a couple of years ago, I backed my rental car into a parking garage cement pillar. Fortunately, only the tailight lens was broken. Rather than paying triple to the rental company, I ordered a lens from a dealer. He refused to provide it until I supplied the vin & license # of the vehicle. When questioned, he stated the vin is the primary identifier of the vehicle and by law he must also report all vehicle info to the police when supplying parts to buyers. They probably don't have much of a hit & run problem anymore because of this. Hanns
  15. Mikelly, Thanks for the vote of confidence. It is appreciated. PopnWood, No problem, I was not offended. I can see where the coincidence of the threads could be misconstrued. Hanns
  16. It is because of the 2 toolshed threads that I decided to check the place out. I don't want a body kit for my Z but I thought the members might be interested if the place is legitimate. The owner said they would make a custom kit for any year Z for $650, if 10 can be sold. Although the original poster of the toolshed threads was initially too secretive about the body kit company, he provided more info later. I live near the location and decided to verify the info. I spent my own gas money and time to do this and have nothing to gain since I don't want a kit. Hanns
  17. Went to the Bodykits etc location, however, the company had moved a block away to 2012 Old Temescal Dr in Corona. It is in a brand new industrial park in spacious facilities. I spoke to the owner, Samir Rai,. He explained that the location is only for sales and distribution of the kits. There were 2 other persons in the building and they were constantly on the phones. From what I overheard, their internet prices were very flexible and much negotiation was occuring. Samir showed me the storage room and allowed me to take a few pics.( I will e-mail the pics to anyone interested because I don't want to clutter up my photo gallery with boring pics). He said that the actual manufacturing of kits is accomplished in the City of Industry(near East LA). He did not give me the address but would allow me to inspect the plant in his presence. They do not allow just anyone on their premises due to proprietary security reasons. He stated they have owned the business for 6 years and have produced more than 50 body kits for group buys. They have no Z kits but their biggest commercial customer is Saturn Motorsports. Their best selling kit is for a Maxima that he designed. Currently, the City of Industry plant is making kits for a new Mustang and Caddilac. Their body kits and parts are on display at any import car show throughout the US and their website, www.bodykits.org. For a custom Z kit he would need 10 orders for $650 each. The donor vehicle owner would receive the prototype kit for free. It would take 3-4 weeks to create the kit from the submitted drawings. The 10 kits would not take longer than 8 weeks to complete from the time the donor car is dropped off. He requires 30% of the 10 car price to begin the process. The kits would then be shipped in very large boxes ( I have seen many homeless live in smaller ones). Shipping payment is $85 to any business or $115 to any private address and is not due until delivery. The kit includes front, rear, and side parts. The quoted price is for a basic custom kit. Anything complex is more expensive as is the installation of screens. I know nothing about body kits and I don't want one, so I'm not a good judge of the kit parts I saw. But there didn't appear to be any obvious flaws in the ones there. I also know nothing about this kind of business but my impression was that there is too much emphasis on showing and selling of items and the actual manufacturing is just an afterthought. Samir was very pleasant and open about his business details. He is young and trying to make it big in a competitive yet lucrative endeavor. He admitted to existing previous negative internet comments about his business but stated it was a one-time occurance due to manufacturing snafus. I believe he lied to me about one thing but I'm not sure. Probably to convince me that his current business location is " Permanent ", he stated he bought the building and is not leasing. This distribution facility would easily sell for a million or more dollars. While I was driving through this new industrial complex I noticed numerous "for Lease" signs but not one "for sale" sign in the entire industrial park. Superficially, this company seems to be what they claim. However, for any serious interest, someone needs to check out the actual manufacturing facility. This should be someone who knows fiberglass component quality and is interested in getting a kit. Hanns
  18. I found the location of the Body Kits ETC that allegedly will make custom body kits. It is in Corona, not too far from where I live. I'll make an unannounced visit and check the place and the staff out, if there is enough interest from the members. Hanns
  19. My TH400 trans mounts to the JTR crossmember quite well. The crossmember is bolted to the floorboard, as recommended, and to the inside of the trans tunnel via 1/4" plates welded to the crossmember.
  20. It's obvious to me that this elk just wanted to commit suicide. He knew where to go!!
  21. Great pics. Those poor wide tires don't stand a chance. I'm looking forward to seeing how your Z runs at SEZ. Hanns
  22. Nice looking car. Looking forward to some pics of the engine and turbos. Hanns
  23. I bought a suction cup camera mount some time ago from a mail order camera company. It is made in Italy by BOGEN #3025. If you look at my video clip titled "Different View", it was attached to the outside of my front fender and held a 4 pound camcorder quite securely while recording 300 feet of tire burning. It can be mounted on any non-porous, flat surface, upside down or whatever. It uses vacuum that is hand pumped to establish an unmoveable contact, until the vacuum is released. It was purchased so long ago that I don't remember how much it cost. I'm sure that unit or one similar is still available.
  24. Unfortunately, I usually have more things on my mind, at that moment, than any mortal human being can handle. I even told myself, just before the spill, "cap that trans fluid before you do anything else." If I would only listen!! Hanns
