  1. Check out this site. There are all different types of turboed engines and they are fi and carb. http://www.turbomustangs.com/smf/
  2. Stony, Looks great. Glad to see you are making progress. By the looks of things it appears that, you too, will have to get a NHRA competition license to legally run the Z at the strip. You better hurry so you can run her this year before winter sets in. That's in August, right. Hanns
  3. Then there is: Corky Bell's "Maximum Boost". If you are going turboV8, I'll loan you both the Bell and Macginnis books. You can pick them up when you bring my headers back...since you won't need them for a turbo application. Anything for more turboV8 Z's. Hanns
  4. The diagonal bars will interfere with reclining the seats. But I, and anyone riding with me will want to sit up straight and pay strict attention as the scenery blurs by. There are experts on this site that could better answer your question on the strength factor of your design. But it seems that the diagonals provide quite a bit of lower support for the main hoop and that they would be required by most sanctioned motorsport organizations. Hanns
  5. Those are SPIN-TECH mufflers with 3" oval exhaust pipes. The ovate size reduces the thickness of the muffler case down to 2.25" although the flow is still equivalent to 3". I waited at the shop while the welder built the mufflers for me. I was able to specify the amount of restriction I wanted by indicating the # and placement of internal baffling. I guess I got greedy because they are louder than my flowmasters. But that could also be due to the shorter muffler termination point I now have as compared to the under rear bumper exits for the flowmaster exhaust. Thanks for the comments everyone. I'll let you guys know when I run at the strip after I get my license. Hanns
  6. The lower 4-link bars are 14.5" from eye to eye. The uppers are 12". The front link attachment point to the frame crossmember back to the center of the 9" Ford axle housing is 17.5". See the new pics of the thread I just started in the Chassis section. Hanns
  7. Here are a few pics of my new roll cage and 4-link attachment for Ford 9" rear. Frame attachment point of Panhard Bar. Link attachment point of Panhard Bar. Link Brackets. Link attachment to frame crossmember. In the next few weeks I will attempt to get my NHRA Competition License so I can legally race my Z in the 9 Second zone. Hanns
  8. I'm using a Ford 9" rear and will measure the dimensions you asked for in the next few days. Due to the short wheelbase of the Z, the bars are much shorter than normally recommended. But with careful adjustment they work quite well. I will take more pics, soon.
  9. Ben, Did my Z distract you? What is the problem? Maybe you should have gone with a carb for those turbos. Hanns
  10. I looked at a SHO Taurus fan and it was only a single speed fan. The Taurus fan that really moves air is the 2-speeder. Hope you got the right one. Hanns
  11. I'm really sorry to see those pics. But my Z looked worse than that after I hit the guard rail at LACR. It's amazing what good bodyshops can do nowadays. Hopefully you will be back on the road, soon. Hanns

    This looks great!!
  13. Your carb has basically stock jetting and should be good with your engine combination. Your float level may be set too high or you have some other adjustment problems. My 750 dp performed best with 69/79 jets on my 383 before I turboed it. Hanns
  14. Larry, If you keep this up you will soon be as old as I am. Hanns
  15. Ben, Glad to see it's done. Don't worry about the numbers.....it's how it feels that counts. Besides you are just beginning to tune it. Just run 15/17 psi like I do and you also will never know what it's like to hook up. Congratulations, great job. Hanns
  16. So, how does it run? Still have rear tires left? Glad to see you got it done. Hanns
  17. John, I made the air box because my carb is old and the throttle shafts would have leaked. There are pressure equalization lines I could have installed but that set-up looks too "Mickey Mouse". Also, I spoke with several carb hat forced induction street car users who complained of the constant gasoline smell when fuel is inevitably blown past the carb. The box is simple and will only allow the fuel and pressurized air to go to one destination...the engine. However, the box will probably have more fuel distribution problems because the air does not take a direct path through the carb like a hat. I have 12AN line from tank to fuel pump. 10 AN line to regulator; 10AN line back to tank and two 8An lines from regulator to carb. The limiting factor in fuel delivery is pump pressure and volume and needle & seat size. You can run a lot of fuel through an 8AN line to make plenty of HP if the system is set up properly. If you want to make the power only a high pressure pump can provide safe and enough high boost through a carb. Hanns
  18. I run 81's in front with a PV. Don't even think of running the stock 70 primary jets unless you open the PVCR's way up and reduce the high speed airbleeds. Hanns
