  1. Very artistic video.....and a great car. Don't worry about the E.T., the mph shows the potential. Take little steps so nothing breaks.
  2. Very Nice! Z is looking good and showing much potential.
  3. Nothing to the engine. I'm currently running the stock Datsun radiator but will swap in the Arizona Z Car radiator for the summer. The secret is not in the radiator but in the 2 speed Taurus Fan and shroud.
  4. Gordon, 409 ci Chevy small block with TH400 trans. The brackets were welded onto the frame rails. By "not radical" I meant low compression pistons and a strong but not wild cam, that allows good vacuum for power brakes, etc.
  5. My engine is not that radical, so the vibrations are not bad despite the solid plate mounting. My springs are all fairly soft and for cruising I adjust my rear shocks on the lightest setting.
  6. My Z uses two A1000's mounted on either side of the fuelcell cover. I turn one on for driving around town and both of them to race. They are loud but my exhaust is slightly louder. They are 6 years old and still functioning.
  7. Awesome performance and it looked great.
  8. Wow, that looks ugly! Sorry to see it. Think of it as an opportunity to buy a stronger cam.
  9. 1981 Slasher Film, "Happy Birthday to Me", starring Melissa Sue Anderson and Glenn Ford contains two scenes with a nice silver 240 Z. At the 11 minute point, several college kids play 'chicken' with their cars by jumping an opening draw bridge. The Z peels out of a parking lot and is the first to make the jump. At 45 minutes, the driver gets back in the Z and drives out of another parking area. No need to watch the rest of the film unless you like "B" movies. The film is showing "On Demand" on Verizon's FEARnet channel.
  10. The entire rollcage is checked by a NHRA representative. Mild steel or Chromoly tube is checked for material thickness; good welds with no grinding of beads; and proper geometry as listed in rule book. For certification, since you are in San Diego, an inspector would come to your house or you could take the Z to Glendora at NHRA headquarters.
  11. Is there an efficient way to locate my previously uploaded pics in my album or do I have to search through all the pics? Is there a "T" to click on like the old version that leads me to the Turbo Meister album? Or do I have to upload all my old pics?
  12. Stony, Here are the Exhaust System pics you requested. The scrapemarks document encounters with speedbumps. However, road dips and driveways are not a problem. The oilpan bottom has been reinforced and has survived unexpected road obstructions.Hopefully, the exhaust pipes will make first contact in the future. Hanns
  13. 3 inch Oval exhaust and Mufflers
  14. 3 inch Downpipes front view
  15. Wayne, Nice to see that beautiful Z run. I can't imagine how fast it will be with a regular launch. WOW, I'm impressed. Looking forward to hearing and seeing more of that Purple Beast. Hanns
  16. Just fine mesh screens for the turbos. I couldn't have been happier when I got to run the GTR because it was sheer coincidence. The GTR was allowed run after run while we, bracket peons, had to endlessly wait in the staging lanes. I was up next in my lane when the GTR pulled, once more, into its empty staging lane. The staff lined him up and then motioned me in next to him. Spectators later told me that they were sure the GTR would put me away because my Z was so quiet doing the burnout. During his previous runs the announcer also spent some time talking about the GTR's famous Import Drag Racer, Ed Bergenholtz. Priceless!!!
  17. 9" Ford rear, 4-link with coilovers, 325/50/15 Mickey Thompson Radials on 12" wide Weld wheels. Yes, your analysis is correct about the 60' times. My best ever 60' was a 1.33 (only happened once when my torque converter broke and allowed 5500 rpm launch). Normally it's 1.45's. Currently it's 1.60 until I can lean out the carb at launch.
  18. The link in my signature shows video of my latest runs. The mph of my second run is 146.99. I have said I run close to 150 but have not actually posted any 150 mph times. I'm not sure that I want to since NHRA then requires my Z to have a parachute mounted. My goal will be to decrease my Elapsed Time without actually exceeding 150. I'm surprised how well my Z actually handles at that high speed with only an airdam for high speed modification. But then I'm only going in a straight line.
