  3. ModernS30 is right about them being ZX wheels, and I'm also unsure of any larger aftermarket wheel that looks similar. Side-note: why are the front sidemarkers red? Isn't that illegal?
  4. The mod motors mount differently than the 5.0s and other older engines, so I really doubt anything will work. As far as AC, I'm not sure since I'm deleting it on mine, but I'm pretty sure you'd have to relocated the AC compressor at the very least.
  5. No one currently makes a kit. Once I actually get my engine installed, I can help you out with dimensions and whatnot, but I'll be running a different trans than you (T-56 from an 03-04 Cobra).

  10. I'm thinking that I'll be fine with a Cobra oil pan (they're rear sump instead of front sump like the Continental one) and an oil filter relcation. Unfortunately I haven't been able to get many of the other parts I need from the junkyards due to the cold weather. Hopefully this winter is a short one. I did, however, pick up a pair of front spindles and hubs from an SN95 Mustang. It doesn't look like it'll take too much work to use them on the Z, and then I'll have the lug pattern and brake options that I want.
  11. From your post, it doesn't sound like you fully understand the concept of what Vtec is. I suggest that you do more research. And to answer your question, no, you'd basically have to fabricate a new head in order to have variable valve timing (what Vtec actually is) on a 280Z. Also, I suggest you don't make blanket statements such as "not a fan of most Honda drivers."
  12. It says "requires welding" in the ad on ebay. I'm assuming that the picture is just generic and not the actual ones for an S30.
  13. I've yet to actually make the mounts for mine, just mocked it up. I had the Lincoln intake manifold on it so I wasn't able to get the block all the way up to the firewall like I would have liked, but it doesn't look like I'll have much of a clearance issue. However, I've got an early 240Z which I believe has a smaller and less effective brake booster. As for a solution to your problem, some of my friends are into minitrucks and they have smaller aftermarket brake boosters to clear the tires when the trucks are fully dropped. That might be something worth looking into.
  14. Are the strut towers closer together on S130s than they are on S30s? It doesn't look like you have much more clearance than I do with my DOHC mod motor in my 240Z.
  15. Well, slight change of plans. I picked up a pair of turbos today. They're Garrett 57mm turbos. .60 A/R cold side and .63 A/R hot side with the hot side ceramic coated. They need new seals but everything looks practically brand new. I'd say they were a steal for $250 for the pair.
  16. My Z has been since August of '09. I'm really hoping to get it from project status to drivable by this summer, but we shall see. Twin turbo V8 builds aren't cheap haha.

  20. It really comes down to what you find most comfortable. Just go out and try to shoot as many different guns as possible to see what fits you best. I've shot quite a few different handguns in the past year, and if I had to choose one for a concealed carry, it'd be a tossup between the XD45 or a M&P 9mm. The XD has an awesome recoil suppression system and it fit in my hand great. The M&P is the gun that my friend carries on the job (he's a sheriff). It felt great had a 17+1 capacity, and I found it real easy to be accurate with it.
  21. Have you shot them both? How the gun feels in your hand and how comfortable you are with it are some of the most important parts of choosing which one is right. I know I've personally read up on a gun and thought I'd love it, only to find out I hated the way it felt once I got a chance to shoot one. I've shot both a 1911 and a .357 Magnum, and I've gotta say I loved the trigger pull on the 1911. However, the .357 definitely packs a punch, and you're not going to have to worry about a casing not ejecting properly and jamming the gun. Again, it really comes back to personal preference. Shoot both, and the decision shouldn't be too hard. Also, the person its aimed at being able to see if its loaded or not should be a moot point, seeing as you shouldn't be pointing a gun at someone unless you fully intend on using it. Unholstered and unloaded gun is a bad situation to get into.
  22. Hey, my name's Dante, I'm 20, and I would be a junior at Michigan State University had I not had to take this semester off for medical leave. I got diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis over the summer, so that kind of threw a wrench in my life plans, but I'm dealing with it. I got into Zs a couple summers ago after I sold my 300whp boosted CRX and was looking for a RWD platform that wasn't something you see every day. I ended up with a '71 240Z in decent shape that I was able to drive home for $1000. It was supposed to be strictly a project car, but I loved driving it so much that I daily drove it until the alternator went out. I'm in the process of swapping in a 4.6L DOHC V8 from a Cobra, and I'm really hoping I can find the funds this winter to get it out by summer.
  23. Mechanical engineering wouldn't land you with a CNC job. Its a lot more theoretical and less hands on (for the most part) than you would think. I was a ME major for a year and a half before I realized it wasn't for me. I want something more hands on. Like others have said, I wouldn't pursue welding as a career unless you have the connections to land a stable, well paying job in the field. If you'd like to pursue CNC operation, you might want to try looking into trade school? Hopefully that helps. I'm kind of in the same boat as you. I'll probably change my major again next semester, since I'm having a hard time finding something that's a good fit for me. Its a lot tougher than you'd think it'd be.
  24. The heads can be swapped, I've seen it done before on an Interceptor. However, Gollum is right about the many block variants. There are quite a few parts that don't interchange between my Cobra block and my Continental block (first thing that comes to mind is the oil filter setup).
