  1. I plan to wear a Hybrid Z shirt at the Car show and the Track Day. Look for me. Silver 240Zwith Panasports Has LS1 with Red Corvette Rocker Covers. We should try to have a HybridZ meet so we can all introduce ourselves.
  2. If your car gets on the road in time, I will be happy to help you tackle it in the Florida Sunshine. You will need, 2 dual filament bulb sockets and bulbs, about 15 feet of 16 gauge wire, wire connectors and electrical tape. Should only take 30 minutes or so now that I am familiar with the process. NOW GET OFF THE COMPUTER AND GET THAT Z CAR BACK ON THE ROAD! LOL!
  3. Might help if you let us know which model car you have. And AFAIK, nothing is a freebie from any JY.
  4. Pete, Oh, like you should even be spending any time reading stuff here on Hybridz when you should be out in the garage getting the car ready for the Zvention. Deadlines, Deadlines, Deadlines. Less than 2 weeks.
  5. Hey guys, I just completed the wiring fix. I followed the directions from the website above. I didn't follow the exact wire routing that he did. I followed my speaker wires from the rear up to the drivers side of the dash. The tail lights work properly now. The top two red sections work as the running / brake lights and the amber section is only for the turn signal/ hazard flashers. It did take about an hour to do but it is worth it. I get tired of hearing how my turn signals light up when I hit the brakes. Big thanks to Mark Ross for writing the article.
  6. Wow. That is some amazing fabrication work. Thanks for sharing.
  7. Not if you fed it with a low pressure pump and then put the high pressure pump between it and the FPR or the fuel rail.
  8. Dave (1TuffZ) and I will hook up in the DC area on Sunday Night. We plan to head out early Monday Morning, drive all day and arrive in Daytona late. Anyone else want to hook up with us?
  9. I have the euro tail lights on my 240Z. When I hit the brakes the amber section lights up with the other brake light. I want to wire them so the amber is for the turn signal only. I saw this on another Z site. http://zhome.com/ZCMnL/tech/TailLightsEuroWiring.htm I was wondering if this is the best way to do this mod? Have any of you done this to your 240Z? How did you do it?
  10. You need to check under FZA Challenge: http://flza.com/fza_challenge.htm It is listed there.
  11. I would love to see that photo. I did a search at Zcar but didn't find it. Let me know if you can track it down.
  12. Since I don't have xray vision, I was thining about getting another one and cutting it open. I would prefer to look at a diagram though. Inlets and outlets are not the problem. According to this diagram the fuel needs to be able to flow in from 2 points and out from 2 points. It seems that this ford surge tank has 2 separate areas inside. I am not positive about this but when I blow through one tube, the air only comes out one of the opposite tubes. I looked at the diagram that Braap posted but it doesn't really show enough. Anyone know where I can get a more detailed diagram of this ford unit and how it hooks up?
  13. I just received my Ford surge tank. It looks like it will be a great fit for my Datsun 510 VG30 swap. I think it would fit well in a Z car too. From what I can see it looks like it wll hold about a half a liter of fuel. The one thing I can't figure out is the inlet/outlets. I pulled off all of the caps and it seems that not all 4 flow in and out together. The top one on each side is somehow connected to the bottom one on the other side. I determined this by blowing through them one at a time and plugging each of the other holes one at a time and all together. There are 2 larger fittings and 2 smaller fittings. The larger 2 are connected to each other and the smaller 2 are connected to each other. I guess I need to try to put some liquid through it and figure it out. From what I see there may be 2 separate chambers inside of it. If this is the case, I don't know if it will work as a surge tank. This site shows how a surge tank is supposed to be set up: http://www.sdsefi.com/techsurge.htm Where can I find a diagram showing the intended use from Ford and what each fitting is used for? Any suggestions?
  14. I don't know if I want to ride next to that for 800 miles. LOL! If you must do it, Go with "Anti - Rice"
  15. Cars can be replaced, People can't. Best wishes to your family for a speedy recovery.
  16. I, for one, am glad that you did. When I was researching a surge tank here a few years ago, this info did not show up in my search. All I found were units that some had made and links to ones down under. I ended up getting a gas tank from a 76 280Z and installed that into my 240Z. I certainly would have tried to use the Ford surge tank if I had known about. I plan to use the one I ordered on my 510 VG30 Swap. If you plan to buy one, DO IT NOW. The place I ordered mine from called me this morning saying it was a discontinued part but their computer showed that they had one in stock and they would ship it. Then they called back and said they couldn't locate it. Then they called back and said that they had found it and it is shipping out today. I asked if they had more but it was the last one. I would have bougt a few of them at that price.
  17. Hey guys. I did some searching on the web and found one for $27.44 plus $9 shipping. Total was $36.44 including shipping. I went ahead and ordered one. I got it from this place: http://www.trademotion.com/partlocator/index.cfm?siteid=214577
  18. Where was this info when I was trying to figure out a surge tank solution. Have you tested this yet in a Z car? How big is that unit? Looks like a great solution to our problems if it works. Do you have a part number?
  19. I didn't say it wasn't an awesome engine, I was just quoting someone that said that the VG30 was an awesome engine. My friend Brian has a KA24-T in his 510 and it is a fantastic setup. Here is a shot of it. This was when it was not yet completed.
  20. Sounds like that to me too!
  21. Be sure to check the year on that 200SX. The 2nd gen 200sx (1984-1988) didn't come with a VG30E until the 1987 model year, It was only available with the VG30e in 1987 AND 1988 and was a 200SX SE Model. (I own a 1987 200SX SE V6 that is going to be my donor car for my VG30 510 swap) Actually the 240SX KA24DE was rated at 160HP and the 87-88 VG30 200SX was also rated at 160HP so both motors make the same power but the VG makes more torque and as you said the VG is an awesome engine.
  22. Clive, Glad to hear that you got her moving. I know the feeling to drive it for the 1st time. Congrats. You better get to work if you are coming with us. I sure hope you can get it on the road in time. Get off the computer and back to the garage.
  23. It is the International Z car Convention. October 1st-5th in Daytona Beach. Info here: http://www.flza.com
  24. Why not see if Johns Cars (JCI) will do it. They did Phantom's car and they sell the LS1 kits and already do lots of Jaguar swaps and they are in Texas.
