I hear you. I want to fly up there just to go for a ride in it. My car runs in the 12s and his is in the 8s. What a difference. Must be an incredible feeling. Glad everyone is enjoying the vids. I am glad to know atha an old Z car that I once owned was built into such a bad ass car.

Hey Guys, I just received a DVD from Ivan (the owner of this car) with some of his 1/4 mile runs and I don't know how to post them. Can anyone help? I did a search but still can't figure it out. I asked him: What is your best run? Is your car really streetable? This is what he said: " ON THE MOTOR THE BEST RUN IS 8.76 AT 156MPH. My 240ZLS1 with a mostly stock 2002 LS1 and T56 ran a 12.88 at the Z convention in Daytona this past October. The car has headers and a cold air intake. Other then that the motor is stock. It has had some dyno tuning. It did 340RWHP on the dyno. Car has a 3.54:1 rear and I am running 225-50-16 tires. It didn't hook up well and I am not very experienced at drag racing. I am sure a more experienced drag racer and stickier tires would put the car in the low to mid 12's but I really didn't build it for drag racing. 1tuffZ was there too and he ran a 12.6 His car has a 3.90 rear and he has a ported TB and an underdrive pully set so I guess it is a bit faster. He didn't hook up well either.

Just curious as to why you would want to put a used starter on a new crate engine. You paid all that money for a sweet new motor, now you want to save a few $$ on a starter? Don't cut corners here. Get the new starter. It will cost you more time and aggrevation later when you have to change that used starter on the side of the road on a hot August day when you could be out cruising. Just Sayin'

WHY? I don't mean to be a smart A*&%SS but are you a chevy guy that got a good deal on a mustang or a ford guy that wants to do a different swap? With so much support for Fords, a SBF engine is a no brainer for that car and for the cost of an LS1 and a T56 you can buy a sweet Ford crate engine for that money. Just Sayin'

The JCI LS1 install kit uses nut inserts to mount the trans mount to the frame rails too. I doubt that John (JCI) would use them if they were not strong enough.

Well the Wii Alert and Santa brought a Wii to our house and now all of us have sore muscles from playing wii for the past few days. Everyone I talk to (that got a wii for Christmas) says they are sore from playing. The Tennis, baseball and the boxing will do this. I think it is great that Nintendo came through with a video game that will get people up off the couch.

I had my Harness made extra long and mounted mine under the passenger seat. The OBDII port is mounted there too. I have seen where someone has used a small motorcycle sized Optima battery and then mounted the ECU to the firewall between the battery and the firewall. This cut down on weight and allowed him to use the stock wiring harness without having to lengthen it.

Well let me know if you need me to help turn some wrenches on your Z and help you drink some Beam. Maybe Pete and I can come and give you a hand. You should go to one of Mike's Shindigs even without the Z. The next one is in January. I will not bring my Z as the roads have been salted and I won't take it out again until the spring rains wash away the dreaded rust causing crystals. Look forward to meeting you sometime.

I can't believe that we both are in Maryland, both drink Jim Beam and both have V8 Z cars and still haven't met yet. We should get together and check out each others cars. Mine is officially hibernating now that they have salted the roads.

Are you talking about the Z shaped piece that stiffens the stock motor mount tower? If so, mine went in without any problems. I know that John uses a jig to make them so I doubt it was built wrong. Maybe it was for the other side? Did you try it on the other side? Or maybe somehow your stock motor mount tower was bent? They are made out of some flimsy metal compared to the part you are installing.

I have that speaker panel in my 240Z. It has 2 Alpine 6" x 9" speakers in it. Works great and filts nicely. Easy to go back to stock if you want to.

Keep in mind that a mouse can get through an opening as small as 1/4" in diameter. I still think the Car Bag is the way to go. If you want to drive the Z, unzip the bag, remove the car cover and off you go. When you are ready to come back. drie the Z onto the carbag, cover the car and zip up the bag. It's a no-brainer! There will alway be more mice.
