  1. I went to the Mitty in Atlanta last weekend and there was one there. There was also an old Toyota Sport 800 mentioned above. Both were really nice cars. The also happened to be parked right next to each other:
  2. Good Luck, Mike. Let me know if I can help out. I just got back from the Mitty. What a great event.
  3. That is looking so sweet. How much ground clearance do you have? Do you plan to add a tip to the end of the exhaust? Z cars have lots of problems with exhaust fumes in the cabin.
  4. I got 27mpg going to the Z convention last year in the rain with the A/C on. I haven't done a long trip since but I bet 30mpg is possible if I can keep my foot out of it.
  5. The brackets I got are for street recaros. Sorry.
  6. I just got some brakets from Wedge Engineering to mount my Recaros into my Z. The brackets will bolt to the original mounts and the seats bolt to the brackets. $180 delivered to me. Nice quality stuff. Clean welds. Only took a few weeks from order to delivery.
  7. I will throw in my 2 cents. When I started my LS1 swap, the LS1 motor I bought came with an automatic trans. I have always believed that a sports car has a manual trans and I love rowing through the gears. I talked myself into believing that I could be happy with an automatic in my 240z and went as far as installing it into my car with the LS1. Well as I got busy at work, my car just say on jackstands in the garage and I kept on thinking about the auto trans. I finally decided that my Z had to have a stick shift. I bought a 6 speed and installed it on the car. Now that my car is on the road, I am so glad I went with the 6 speed. I love to shift. My daily driver has an auto-stick that you can shift manually. It is not the same. Nothing like being able to side step the clutch and do a nasty burnout or rev the motor and match the down shifts. No to mention hitting 2nd gear and having the car start to slide out from the back. Go with the manual. You will be happy that your car is still a sports car.
  8. My friend Keith in North Carolina swapped a L series Diesel from a Maxima into his 280Z. Gets 36MPG on the hwy. No turbo. He drove it to the Z convention last year. It is a cool swap. Not too slow either.
  9. Cyrus, see my PM to you. Also, my car just got road tested today. It has way too much pedal travel before the brakes engage. I am wondering if it is due to the larger bore MC. I am going to post a new thread to see if anyone knows. I will do a search first.
  10. May 19-21 is also the Jefferson 510 vintage car races at Summit Point Raceway. The east Coast Datsun 510 club holds an annual meet there and we have a great time. Lots of non 510s also show up. We need more Z cars. The vintage races are great and we camp out all weekend, watch the races, build a huge bonfire and have a small car show on Sunday. Come join the fun. And welcome to the east coast. There are lots of great things to do around here. I am in the DC area. If you plan to come up here from Portsmouth, let me know. Maybe Mike Kelley will throw another shindig soon.
  11. Cyrus, I just had the MMS Extreme 13" Bake Kit installed on my car, front and rear. Ross told me that you can use the stock master cylinder or the 280ZX master. I am running the ZX master and an adjustable proportioning valve but have yet to drive it with the new brakes. My car should be finished at the shop by the weekend. I can't wait!
  12. Depending on the year the 510 guys like the struts and the brakes!
  13. Yes. I saw it. Looks great. I can't wait to see mine. I went with the stock look (black dials with white numbers)
  14. Mine used to scare me too. You get used to the power pretty qwik. Soon I will want some more. Good to know that for not too much cash you can bolt on another 100 hp. Just need to get it set up to get the power to the ground first.
  15. Fantastic David, I know you can't get that smile off of your face. The exhaust looks nice. Is that 2 1/2" front tubes to a 3" single? Which muffler did you use? When do the subframe connectors go in? Faster then a Viper? Hell yes!
  16. Bryan' date=' The knobs are back lighted. You can kind of see the illumination in the picture below. I will be doing something similar to what Bartman has done in this pic. [img']http://album.hybridz.org/data/500/medium/DSCF2302.JPG[/img] I am thinking of centering mine on a black filler panel that I will try to match to the original wrinkle finish of the stock panel. I may decide to mount it in the upper half of the space and install some switches or additional gauges in the rest of the space. Don't quite know yet. More then likely, just center it and be done with it. The "while I'm at it syndrome" is really getting to me.
  17. The Vintage Air GEN II Mini Evaporator unit fits nicely in place of the stock heater unit. The unit comes with 2 defroster outlets and 3 vent outlets. There are also heater outlets on the bottom. We used bulkhead connectors for the heat and A/C lines. We re-routed the heater hoses under the fuel rail covers. A/C hoses are concealed in a thermal heat sock to conceal and keep down the heat. Condensor and Dryer are up front. Sanden compressor from JCI for LS1 install. This is the mini controller that is being installed in the location where the factory heater controls were. A trinary (sp?) safety switch is also being install to protect the compressor. The install should be complete next week. Just in time for the warm weather.
