I too have my old drums, although my BFH removed a couple fins on them. They are yours if you want, just give me shipping. And honestly since I did the disc conversion like last week, I feel pretty confident in giving you exact part numbers for what you need, and I know for a fact that at advance auto, nothing should take more than 1-2 days to come in. I can also say that a proportioning valve is not needed with my particular setup, as it has nearly the same brake bias as stock. you will have to get two parts per side from your local jy, and pay the machine shop a visit though. the parts are super common though.

I have a spare running l28 i can put in it, and a five speed too. we didnt make the drive tonight, step dad got stuck in traffic and it was too late to go. i'm going to go LOOK at it friday or saturday, and if it really is as nice as he says it is, and literally just needs the motor dropped in (should already have an ecu and appropriate wiring since it was already swapped) and brakes bled, then i may pick it up. the way i see it, a very nice z, and a motor i just have laying around, should, according to my calculations, equal a nice cruiser/daily. i still have the 77 that i'll put the cage in, and we're planning a vq or LS swap so it'll be plenty quick. this would just be a minimal build for a nice dd. but if its not damn near perfect, i'm not going to get it.

thanks guys. he said it was repainted back in 1980ish, and then torn apart for engine work. it wasn't driven after that. just kept in a garage. here is the cl ad. http://atlanta.craigslist.org/atl/cto/1448952200.html

He says that he is the second owner, and that the car has been garage kept for the entirety of its life. he says absolutely not a spec of rust, and it comes with a 5 point cage and a spare dash, the dash thats in the car has no cracks. interior is mint, and has a 4 speed and possibly a ported and polished head. car has not been cut at all, and the motor was swapped for an l28, but the l28 is seized and the head is seperated from the block...He wants 3900 for it.

Actually its at north Atl Import Service. Does anybody here that knows how to assess the value of a z want to come look with me, and make sure i don't get ripped off? If so, please pm me your phone number and name so I can call you and let you know details. thanks, Austin

Disk Brake Upgrade Ideas for 77 s30
Avernier replied to Zerocell5688's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
which mounting brackets did you use? -
The pro-comps look alot like the stock gauges imo. They offer them in black and white face. The black face are what you want.

anyone get their motor from tiger auto parts?
Avernier replied to Negligence's topic in Nissan 4 Cyl Forum
Jesus Christ. I know that its a rule about grammar and spelling. I know why its there. But was it really worth typing out an entire sentence criticizing the way he wrote something when you knew damn well exactly the message he was trying to convey? What about people typing on cell phones, that makes full sentences difficult sometimes. I'm not trying to start a fight, make enemies, or upset anyone. I've found alot of great info on this site, and it was easier due to the generally good grammar thats used here. I just find it disturbing how big a deal people make it. Tiger japanese has been good to many people I know. Mostly Honda b series stuff, but also some KA's and 2J's as well. -

240z fiberglass bumpers took over my summer!!
Avernier replied to Yorgee's topic in Fabrication / Welding
if i had a front bumper to mold, i would totally do this. -
I love advanced, i know all the guys, i walk around the back of the store and look at everything I want, they rent me tools, and I get a pretty fat discount alot of the time. they also special order parts i have no intention of buying so I can compare to parts I AM buying. like brake rotors off of like 6 different cars so i can find the right one.
-
i'm pretty sure i still have one.... i'll have to check though.
-
This is exactly what I was planning on doing since alot the stock metal there was rusted and bent. I'm mostly looking for demensions on the lights so I know how much needs to be cut.... Thanks...
-
No, Because I don't like the stock s30 lights a whole lot, but I do like the s130 lights. The cars look similar anyway, and I like the way they look on the car. Why the negativity? This is a hybrid site..
-
Wow, I think the lights look really good. Atleast I know they fit.
-
Has this been done? I searched... and searched...and searched some more but have not found where its been done. I haven't had the opportunity to measure the 280zx lights but if someone with an s130 would like to, I'd like to know the demensions. I did a very quick chop and i really like it. thoughts?

My 4 wheel disk brake upgrade.
Avernier replied to Avernier's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
I did make sure everything fit except I couldn't check clearances until I got the bracket custom machined. Since he did all the machining and powdercoating together, i didn't have an opportunity to check that aspect. but the brackets fir on the hub, and the calipers fit on the brackets, so I'm going to look for a rotor that has a shorter hat than the 280zx rotors. i might get lucky, probably not. -

Avernier replied to Avernier's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
i am using the rear 280 calipers with the read 280 disks. there just isn't clearance. i need a 240sx caliper or a maxima caliper to make it work. -

Avernier replied to Avernier's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Dammit. The 280zx calipers are wrong! It was supposed to be the 240sx calipers. I feel so stupid. everything else is perfect though. -
So I went to the junkyard and scoured and looked and tooled around for five hours and came out with 83-84 280zx rear rotors and calipers, 84 300zx non turbo vented rotors, 1990 Toyota 4X4 vented S12w 4 pot calipers, and last but not least, 1985 FWD Nissan Maxima flat brackets for rear disk brakes. I cleaned them all up with a wire wheel on a cordless drill, and a 15$ sandblaster from harbor freight. I do not recommend buying this as it is damn near useless. The wire wheel is awesome though, and only about 5 bucks. A brillo pad and some simple green or wesleys bleche white gets it near shiney. Then I sent them to my girlfriends father. He owns a machine shop and has a powder coater. I had him powder coat the calipers silver, and the brackets black after he machined them, to the specifications I found on this site. I will be test fitting tomorrow before we strip the entire car and put it on a rotisserie, but i must say the quality is amazing as far as end results are concerned. I think the silver will look good against the gumetal of the wheels and car. On to the pics!!!! thoughts?

i second that notion. i'm dying here.

Molding headlight covers - problems with moisture?
Avernier replied to zeeboost's topic in Body Kits & Paint
What if you make a groove in the body around where the cover meets the body, that way you can just use a heat gun to attach the cover directly to the body. I'm making a fiberglass housing built around an infinity q45 projector that bolts into the stock mounting bucket, and has the cover fitted to it. The whole unit slides into the hole and blots to the bucket.. -
Molding headlight covers - problems with moisture?
Avernier replied to zeeboost's topic in Body Kits & Paint
^ All of the above are three piece designs with industrial strength rubber based adhesive. You have to bake those headlights at 250-275* for about 7 minutes to open them. They are fully sealed. The clear part fits into a v shaped groove thats filled with the adhesive. Once you press the clear part into the groove at room temperature (the adhesive is fairly pliable at room temp.), bake it for about 7 minutes at 250, then press it all the way together and clamp it with "C" clamps or vice grips until it cools. now it is fully sealed from the elements. if you want to recreate that, you need to make a housing that the cover can fit into to seal. -
Some people have INSANE interiors. This thread has some good stuff. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=124146&highlight=interior

if you haven't already done anything, black leather belts would look awesome.
