  1. Pegasus Racing has several types of screen, in sizes up to 24"x36". handy screen-o-matic link
  2. That's beautiful man! I'm moving to NM soon, can I come fishing? Pretty please...
  3. While I admit it was a completely idiotic and unthinking comment she made, let me offer some insight into why she may have thought it was no big deal. I was born in Germany and lived there until my senior year (Army brat). I actually grew up "on the economy" as they call it, because my parents believed in living off base so I could actually experience the culture. I had some very close German friends. The German public in the post war years was very ashamed of the atrocities commited by its leaders, military, and people. The subject became an "unmentionable". It was a black hole in history books, not taught in school, just not talked about. There are several generations of Germans that knew very little about it unless they did research on their own, and very few books remained in libraries that addressed it. The unfortunate result was a crop of young Germans that began to doubt the holocaust ever occured. "If that happened, how come we never heard about it?", being the general sentiment. More evidence of this mentality showed itself, i.e. people glorifying the old Nazi ideals, skinheads, etc looking to bring it all back. German leaders realized this, and in the early 90's put in place a massive plan to re-educate it's population the horror of WWII. It was brought into the forefront as part of a concerted plan and focussed on, much like targetted education we see in our schools on drugs. Unfortunately the damage had been done, and not all of them bought it. I remember in my teens my god-mother, a German woman married to an American, breaking into tears after reading a book about the holocaust. She could not believe her people had done such a thing, and began apologizing to my mother and I. This was a 30 year old woman, finding out for the first time what had happened. Aux, I hope you understand I definitely think what this chick did was stupid. I just thought I could offer a sort of explanation. Now- she's hot, you should start discussing reparations! A little Myspace blackmail wouldn't be out of the question...

    Those are awesome.
  5. Yeah, been called a trash picker by my friends too. The apartment complex (an old mill) where I lived in NH was mainly college students. There was a continual flow of people moving in and out. There was some sort of unwritten rule, big trash (furniture, etc) goes in front of the dumpster, anything usable went on the side. Kind of a grab bag sort of thing. I got some good stuff. New monitor, working Gateway computer, wine rack. I also contributed when I got rid of things. I could see the dumpster from my window, it was fun to see how long something lasted. 10 gal Fish tank... not even 30 min. Big ass green couch... 2 hrs
  6. Why didn't you use the Miata seats? They are very close in size and shape to the originals, and fairly supportive for sporty driving. Nice blue BTW. Looks like its coming together nicely.
  7. I have it on good authority from a Syclone guru that they are indeed the same. AND they are everywhere. Last week I was in a junkyard and stopped counting AWD Safari/Astros at six. Can you say little $$$? My "someday" list includes using one of those transfer cases in something/anything. (The sad part of that story is the missing FairladyZ I expected to still be in the JY after 3 years).
  8. I too was curious recently about the triple SU question, so I picked up a working Jag setup (complete) for a song to check out. I already have Mikunis, but can examine them closely and still turn around and sell later. It helps that the one ad posted above sold for about 6X what I paid...I keep telling myself it's an investment I'll post detailed pics and some measurements soon in a week or so.
  9. In the 50's car "clubs" were usually a bunch of hot rod guys that pooled their money and rented a warehouse/garage space. They kept and worked on their cars there, shared tools, and helped each other out. It's an awesome idea, but I'm not sure people are honest enough these days. Before I joined the Navy, I usually had friends available if I needed a hand. It was pretty fair, I helped my buddies, they helped me. Back then my roommate and I had THE house. There was always a car or motorcycle torn apart, and people coming in and out. Our garage was a local hangout. I miss that. The only issue I ran into was the "lack of credit", which bothered me. When you hear someone talking about a car you did weeks of work on, and overhear numerous, "Well, I did this...", on parts of the car you did, it kind of makes you want to let them go it alone next time. I have been the guy changing his tranny in the driveway in winter all by myself too. No one I know now really is into cars. Some of my friends are trying to learn though. But, as you know, "liking cars" isn't the same as having the full blown car sickness. I am the go to guy for anything motor-related. Ever try to explain detonation or reversion to a neophyte? When I see one of them rolling down the window to hear something in the other lane, I'll know my work is done.
  10. Somebody post another engine! I really liked this thread, Olie. Can you imagine the stumpers people will come up with in a year?
  11. Thanks for the info! My 280z has a sunroof installed... cheesy 70's style. I'd rather install a nice sunroof I like than do the bodywork to re-roof it.
  12. Did you do this yourself? If so, what was the donor?
  13. They are Scat/Procar seats. They are pretty popular with the vintage Mustang guys.
  14. There was a 305HO in 80's vettes. Tiny chambers... more compression, bigger ports. I'm sure that head could be found pretty cheap. I had a friend who ported a set of those, and ran it on a 350 in a 68 Chevelle. The car ran in the 12.4-12.1 1/4 mi range. The Chev was a fat pig too, not stripped at all. But, unless you could pick these up for next to nothing, it probably isn't worth it. There are so many aftermarket alum heads out there now that can make serious power. The market is flooded and some are dirt cheap. As everyone's said, enjoy it now! Come winter build a big romp-em, stomp-em motor. It will give you something to compare to next year. BTW, 305's suck. My buddy Kevin built one (moderately), and could still only manage 13 sec... with nitrous.
  15. I dig the fighter plane paint ideas. I'm not sure I'd want to drive one every day, but they are definitely cool. Driving a Z gets you into enough chit-chat at the gas station, know what I mean? Maybe for my someday ghetto racecar... I imagine there are some old tanks with cool schemes too (esp German). Here's the paint jobs I've found since reading this: -Two "Spitfires" The Mitsubishi A6M7 Zero Starion
  16. Isn't that the Golf with two engines?
  17. There are tons of performance parts for that motor with CARB EO numbers if that's your concern. There have been a few magazine article building emissions legal motors, it would take a little bit of looking. The easy way is to just throw on a blower. I'd definitely be interested in seeing more pics of your new car. I think you might have the first 5.0 ZX anyone has seen...
  18. Woj, I was going to recommend the Idle Air motor to you, but Lason beat me to it. It sometimes makes all the difference in the world. Spray the hell out of it with carb cleaner, let it soak in, then spray the hell out of it again and clean that thing out. Another thing to check/adjust is your TPS voltage(Throttle position sensor). They aren't even in spec from the factory half of the time. It can cause some odd idle issues, though not quite as severe as you describe. You'll need a volt/multimeter and piercing leads or straight pins. I found you a good description here: http://www.muscularmustangs.com/tps.php I stick with .98 because, when running, the voltage fluctuates a bit, and can nose above 1.00V. This will hurt performance, so... .98V. You pick up a few hp, and usually better throttle response after adjusting it too. You also need to check and make sure the engine has the correct rotation water pump for the serpentine belt. They look the same. The older V-belt water pumps and the newer serpentine (yours) pump in opposite directions. It's a common mix-up. And fix that rad hose man, it's ugly! One unfortunate thing I noticed is the plenum cover on your upper intake. Take it with a grain of salt, but you might not have an HO motor. The HO came in mustangs (duh), and Lincoln Mark VII's. Maybe the builder just used a spare upper intake or plenum cover. The way to know will be checking for roller lifters after you pull the intake. There is a 30hp difference between HO/non-HO. Not life or death, but the roller cam is nice when you start throwing $$$ at the motor to go faster. *The duraspark is the predecessor to the TFI (Thick Film Ignition), and not the same thing. EDIT: Doh, you say right in your post you have HO heads, sorry- not paying attention.
  19. I just found this there. It looks like a 1 piece-3 piece spoiler. I'm going to dig around a little more for this "EVA"... BTW, the translation doesn't always work, and some pages it just doesn't pull off at all. But, I'm finding all sorts of stuff to make me jealous!
  20. Sorry for the hijack Jay! Consider me next in line on the needy Mikuni owner list... *Here's a shout out to anyone else with Mikuni 44PHH velocity stacks, air horns, ram pipes - whatever you want to call them. If you have some sitting around taking up space, PM me please.
  21. If you use Google's translate page, you can keep surfing in English on Yahoo Japan. Be ready for wacky grammar, in a big way. Click the "More" button on the Google home page to find it. It's a ways down in the right column. Mike, I hate you for showing me that... I want everyting! Oh, those seats are pretty cool too, much like the Ford GT's retro-futuristic ones. Yes, I want them too... I wonder if upholstery shops can get those little vent screens?
  22. did I mention it had two SU carbs?
