  1. I think that Scoggins can sell you a 90mm cable type TB that fits. http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=216495&highlight=nick+williams
  2. Maybe diodes? Check it with an ohm meter.
  3. Harrison, if you dont alter the engine with a cam and heads then the stock tune would be fine. Were it gets you is when you have to alter the computer to delete the cats, or the fuel tank stuff, AIR, EGR, and other crap that will keep the engine from operatering in closed loop if you dont remove it. You can usually get someone to do that for you for a minimum fee and call it a day. The LS1 is light, sounds awesome, pulls like a freightrain. It's worth the extra effort in the long run.
  4. FWIW Edlebrock sells a manifold kit with a spark system that eliminates the computer and FI for the LS1.
  5. Well I’ve got 400 miles of driving an LS1/T56 Z. This is such an awesome swap that it is really worth the extra money to go LS1 or LS2 as compared to an iron block 350 or 400. The torque band of the LS1 is really awesome. Even with the TR230 cam and stage II 11:1 CR heads I can cruse at 55 in 6th gear (.5 overdrive at 1400 rpm) and step on the gas and get instant acceleration. 1750 rpm is 70 mph and I am getting really good gas mileage on the freeway. Just for kicks I hit it hard in 6th today and it took me from 70 to 100 (2500 rpm) in a flash. I look for excuses to drive the car now; it is really a blast! She look’s like a beater (I call my Z Lisa), but beware as she will put a Camaro or Vette to shame in a heartbeat, not to mention the 745I that tried yesterday. All that on the stock 14" 195 BF Goodrich Traction T/A’s. Those tires just grab really well for some reason, I must admit that I am really surprised by the lack of wheel spin from 3rd gear on (1st and 2nd can send the tires up in smoke). The powerband of the TR230 is really 3000 to 6800, but I have not ventured past 5200 yet because it really starts pulling hard there and I fear the rearend will go bang. If you’re thinking about a swap, do the LS1 or better for sure! You won’t be disappointed. I’ll head to the dyno next month after I finish tuning the beast, I just hope that the rearend holds up until I get the LSD finished.
  6. I loose intrest all the time, but that does not stop me from finishing a project. I force myself and somehow always find a reward for doing so. My god man, look at the excellent work you have done so far and the documentation. I really like reading your posts and respect your skills. Take 2 asprin and sleep on it.
  7. Glad you got it sorted out Mike! TR224 kicks ***!
  8. I believe they are trying to use all their energy on saving the stranded folks and walking away from the looters. Just not enough manpower to do both.
  9. Hell, I'd stay up all night just to hear it fire! After reading all the stuff on LS1tech I had it stuck in my head that it was side to side they were talking about, I assume too much. I could see flipping them would be easy. When I took mine off I labled them with tape as pas and drv, so they went on the same way. Hey! Good luck Mike! I know it will do good for you. I have been tunning my TR230 a little and have gotten it to run ok now without any codes. If you have EFILive and Flashscan it really makes it alot easier to do then LS1Edit.
  10. It's got to be something simple, like a bad ground or loose connector. I know my crank sensor plug was hard to connect.
  11. They do look the same. For the actual connectors on a 99 the wires comming from the PCM to the plug on the coil pack on the passenger side have a white stripe and on the drivers side there is no stripe.
  12. I always thought they were, but I'm looking at mine and they look the same. I'm going to go and check the service manual. Are you throwing any codes, SES light on?
  13. How about the coil packs, do you have the drivers side one on the passenger side? Thats my first guess. Did you put a degree wheel on to check the cam position when you installed it? What about the timing chain, is it one of those adjustable ones? Dale
  14. GM this time, who knows whats next. Aux, you got room for 2 rotary's in there. You could be the Tommy Ivo of the Z world!
  15. I also have have the option to run 3 relays and make it a true 2 speed fan. If the fan was already running on low then the current surge going into high would be alot less.
  16. It's funny! It's not real witty! But it's really a mix of the Beatles and Metallica! I like Hey Dude and that Everybody's got something to hide song. With some practice they might become musicans.
  17. My taurus fan bogs the idle to almost nothing but no voltage drop or lights are dimming, for me it's just the heavy load on the alternator bogging the engine down. I know my fan pulls like over 100 amps at startup and goes down to like 40 or so when running. The only time I have a problem is at idle. Maybe a big capicator would help keep the surge from bogging the engine.
  18. I’m power crazed and can’t keep my foot out of it! The LS1 with cam and heads is an awesome performer, especially with a 6 speed behind it. With the skinny little 14" tires the car will really surprise you. The BF Goodrich Traction T/A’s get a real good grip. I know the car will just set the tires on fire, but I have restrained from doing any burnouts. But (he said butt!) yesterday getting off of my exit this vtech ricer with stickers, fancy paint, 2000 dollar wheels, and fart can ride my *** all the way down the entrance ramp. When we turn onto McFarland the rice stomps on it and starts to come around me. I waited untill he was right beside me and hit it hard in 3rd at about 35 mph. Within about 3 seconds I was a good 4 car length’s ahead of them so I slowed back down. These guy’s must have been pissed because they came flying around me full throttle, fart can screaming! I was laughing like hell! This is a disease.
  19. Maybe he only had 48 dollars.
  20. I learn something new everytime I visit this site! I guess the newer 260's must have shared some of the 280's suspension.
  21. I belive that the 280 was in production from mid 75 to 78. The 260 was like 74 to mid 75 only.
  22. I just cut the mount off and left the re-enforcment plates there. Mine is a 78 tho and might be a little different. I am using the driveshaft supplied by John's cars.
  23. Thanks, You must have been number 1 or real close too it. Thanks to you and all the other Hybridz members for showing me the path to true enlightenment!
