  1. Thanks all, The fuel rail was for another car, but I had it so I used it. Now if the evening rain would just stop!
  2. Those Baja seats look way too wide to fit in a Z. I have A4's and I had to alter them (bend the shoulder support in) to get them to fit that plus they are way too high. I'm only 5'6" and I have a hard time getting in the car. My winter project is to redo the stock seats and get them back in.
  3. Here is how she looked today. http://www.circuitflex.com/HoodOn1.jpg Well it was fairly uneventful, except for the fact that the car has an unbelievable amount of torque! Let me tell you that those stock shocks and springs will squat big time at about 1/2 throttle which is as far as I took it today. One problem surfaced, the clip on wire to the alternator keeps coming off causing the battery to drain down. I know that Taurus fan sucks juice like no tomorrow. Luckily I figured it out before it left me somewhere (carrying jumper cables now, along with a full tool box). EFI Live reports the operating temp to be around 195 to 210, which sounds about right, but the Datsun gauge shows it a little higher. Did a crank relearn procedure today using EFI live (new PCM). Now I gotta get to the muffler shop and have my Borla’s put on. Then it’s tune time. All in all it was a great feeling to drive the beast, too bad the radio could not be heard. On a lighter note the exhaust dumping under the car clears a path of pinestraw down the driveway, here’s a pic. http://www.circuitflex.com/DrivewayStripe.jpg
  4. Got the problem figured out, pressure drop was the fuel strainer before the pump. The strainer from Earls is too small for sure. There wasn't much in it, but it kept it from working right. I asume that the pump was cavatating really bad. I cleaned the strainer and I have 58 psi all the time now. I have a much larger strainer to put on this weekend, but for now this is good enough for my neighbors to think there's a nascar event on their block! Ha! I can't wait to go for a serious drive!
  5. Good old California, Fox just reported tonight that of all the vehicles registered to the state (purchased by the gov) they can only account for half of them!
  6. Rod bolts are a bad weak point on LS1's Gotta keep the rev's down below 6500 unless you upgrade the rod bolts. And FWIW lots of folks running LS1's run a quart high on oil to keep it fed. The crank is way out of the pan so windage is not a problem.

    half shaft ujoints

I believe that Phantom has been running the spicers on his LS1 conversion since the getgo without problems. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Call before you order to make sure they have them or you might be waiting a while. http://www.zcarparts.com/store/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=PRC02C
  9. Really nice and clean. I like the intake routing. One question tho, did you use John's A/C kit?
  10. Intresting how an " 8 ) " makes a smilely face. I had to edit one of mine earlier for that.
  11. Thanks Quick, thanks Jaime. I believe that the little strainer placed before the pump is the problem. I have another monster strainer that I am going to put in this week. A thought had crossed my mind about the venting. I had blocked off the vent and thought that the tank might be creating a vacuum causing the trouble, but I opened the vent up and tried again with the same result. It was a nasty day in Atlanta so working on the car was out. Got the workbench cleaned up instead.
  12. Loud aint it. Been there done that as of yesterday! Man, great work! Feels good to see it roll!
  13. Got the beast going today, Wow what a sound! I'll bet all my neighbors got tired of me going up and down the street. I was so nervous that I put the aluminum foil in the freezer and took my laundry basket outside. Go figure. Anyway it fired up on the first try. But after running for a little while the fuel pressure starts to go down (starts at 58 ). Then when you hit the throttle it drops to like 20 and falls on it's face. I guess the pre-filter is plugging up. I changed the filter on the fuel rail to no avial. I'm gonna drain it tomorrow and see what's up. The little run I got out of it was awesome. 2nd gear is mega powerfull. The computer tuning for the TR230 cam and Absolute speed stage 2 heads lets it idle good at 900. I tried to post a video, but it kept saying it was too big. 6.6 meg is too big? UPDATE, got the video uploaded - LS1 Startup -
  14. Pull the fuse on the fuel pump and turn it over until you see pressure on the gauge.
  15. Thanks guys! Tim the fuel regulator is mounted to the rear fuel rail on the engine and connected to the return line with earls super stock hose and is plenty flexible. That baby's gonna be loud!
  16. Well I’m about ready to fire it up. All I have left to do is: Block off the heater connections on the water pump (broken heater core in car). Add oil to the engine. Fill the cooling system with Dex. Hook up the battery. Energize the fuel pump and adjust the pressure. Try to start the beast! Wish me luck! Here’s a pic. http://www.circuitflex.com/ReallyClose.jpg
  17. Only way to prime the oil on an LS series engine is to pull the fuse to the fuel pump, pull the spark plugs and spin it over until you see pressure on the gauge. I ran a compression check and it was all over the place so I pulled the intake on mine and found a mess of leaves and dirt in the intake ports of the heads. That was a 28,000 mile LS1 from a 99 trans am. I pulled the heads and the pistons were clean but the heads were a mess and I ended up buying a set of stage 2 heads to put on it. New compression check is at like 175 to 195 psi.
  18. Duh, there is a space after Hybrid seperating the Z.
  19. Well she can eat my ant anyday! I'll take the combo pack please. Anyway most eye candy drives like my grandma. That babe has it for me!
  20. That's good info, I'm running mine right now. I'm using a 40 degree bend on the drivers side header and a 90 degree bend on the passenger side. I'm having to weld my angles but I think with the design of the JTR collector you have alot of room for error (thank God). Man it look's like were gonna have 2 or 3 LS1 Z's on the road at about the same time!
  21. I put an LS6 intake on mine and deleted the EGR, AIR, and the EVAP. I know the 2001 and up came with LS6 intakes.
  22. Pulled the old fuel pump out and put in a 3/8 feed line and walbro 255lph pump. I mounted the pump next to the spare tire well. I had to make some brackets to hold it and isolate it from the frame to keep it quiet (I hope). Running the line and getting the bends right was a real bitch so this simple project took 2 full days! Everything takes 3X of my estimated time's. I hope this pic shows up, if it doesn't then just look in my gallery. http://album.hybridz.org/showphoto.php?photo=3482&cat=500&page=1

    Fuel Pump installed

The fuel pump is in next to the spare tire well. I used a 255lph pump and Earls hose and fittings.
