  1. A vacation to me is staying home and relaxing. Traveling is for retired folks that have all the time in the world to enjoy the places they end up.
  2. Not trying to slam, I just want to inform prospective LS1 swappers as to what lies ahead. JTR's stuff is top notch!
  3. Well I got the JTR radiator with a Taurus fan on it installed today, along with the MAF and air filter. I know grumpy would have a fit seeing the intake in the engine bay, but it’s gonna have to be that way for a while. Oh joy, all that’s left is the exhaust and the fuel system. My favorites. http://www.circuitflex.com/Update.jpg
  4. Ebay will have used one's in a year or so. My LS1 cost me 4000 + 1275 for heads + 400 for headers + 120 for the TB + 75 for a damaged LS6 intake + 700 for the cam, timing gear, and oil pump + 200 for injectors + 700 for LS1 edit. Hey, this is expensive! Imagine what the LS7 parts are gonna be like.
  5. Well the passenger side header hits the fuel lines and the brake line. Guess I’ll end up running new lines after all. All the electric I ran on that side is close too. If I had it to do all over again (and I will) I would have put all the electric inside the car and out of the engine bay. I think I can bend the brake line out of the way and use some heat sheilding around it and the electric for now. http://www.circuitflex.com/HeaderFuel.jpg
  6. Ross is a great guy. He came thru for me when I asked.
  7. Only one display at a time, the button toggles thru them. Numbers are easily read.
  8. I think this shifter will work fine. It is the "UMI Short Stick for 93 – 02 GM F-Body 6 speed". It mounts on the other side of the shifter rod and is angled towards the driver quite a bit. The company that makes it is UMI Performance and it cost 19.95 on special. Of course shipping was 8.95. Of course with the short stick you don’t have the leverage you did before so going into reverse with the lockout on is a little harder, but the throw is reduced by quite a bit and the angle compensates nicely for the reduced length. http://www.circuitflex.com/FirstGearDriver.jpg http://www.circuitflex.com/FirstGearPassenger.jpg http://www.circuitflex.com/SecondGearPassenger.jpg
  9. Mine looks like about 1 inch below the crossmember, but at the stock ride height the clearance looks good. I'll measure it when it stops raining.
  10. I found a short shifter for the Hurst and ordered one last week. UPS says delivery on the 14th. I think I'm going to bent it back a bit. I'll shoot a pic tomorrow when I get it done.
  11. Man I would love to take a trip but 9/11 see's me in Vegas and August is still working on the car. There's always next year. I may be going down to Ft Lauderdale in the winter to visit my parents. If I can take the Z I'll make sure to swing by Orlando. Oh yea, I got the Transmission mount done and the Driveshaft is in. All the electrical is hooked up but I think that the headers are going to make me move some of the wiring on the passenger side. I'm trying to do the exhaust next, then the cooling system, then the fuel lines get hooked up. I'll make sure that the first startup is with open headers just for effect.
  12. I use the hand held vacuum pump. Works great for a 1 man bleed. I also have used the speed bleeders on the rear. For what it's worth the drivers side rear is the longest run and should be bleed first, then the passenger side. It looks backwards but if you look at the lines you will realize that the drivers side is by far the longest run.
  13. That is a nice car Bart. I think my sticker will end up adding about 300 hp.
  14. Mine will be Flowtech X to dual Sweet Thunder mufflers then turn down at the axle untill I get the LS1 tank in. Then it's out the back. Go to the link below to hear all the different LS1 muffler combos. Go into the true dual section for the sweet thunder. http://www.ls1sounds.com/
  15. I planned on using Johns AC stuff. I think it will be next summer before I need it tho. Famous last words.
  16. I'm so sorry to hear that Larry. I know where your at as I lost my wife last year to brain cancer. Hang tough man.
  17. I am changing over to the LS1 tank in the winter so for the time being I am feeding the walbro with the stock 280 pump. The LS1 tank has the pump in it so I will be eliminating that trouble prone setup. I think I can have it on the road by the fall if I can stay on it.
  18. I had the rear of the car jacked up about 8". There was no way it was going to go in without raising the rear up. Another problem was that the front of the Z is so long that the hoist just couldn't reach in far enough at first. But shifting the load leveler bought us another 12" and that was enough, barely. It was really just raise and lower and raise and lower between the floor jack on the transmission and the engine hoist. I must have crawled under the car 30 times and I'm sore as all getout from it. All in all it really isn't that difficult if you have lots of patients. I got the clutch hooked up tonight and it feels great. I was afraid that a stage 3 clutch might be a little stiff, but the wilwood master cylinder seems to handle it well. Time will tell.
  19. Well it wasn’t the hardest thing I ever did, but it wasn’t the easiest either. You really gotta get a big angle on that thing to slip it in. My neighbor helped me. It took about 2 hours to drop it in. Here’s a picture. http://www.circuitflex.com/EngineInstalled.jpg
  20. Thanks all. DaEvil, yes those are the JCI mounts I’m using and the harness was a custom built by Speartech. Zed240au, I got the idler on Ebay, but you could use an extra stock one. The belt is from NAPA, 060547 6 rib 55 ¼". http://www.circuitflex.com/ShortBelt1.jpg Look’s a bit wet out but were going on anyway. Damn the torpedoes full speed ahead!
  21. Now thats a load. http://www.allowe.com/Humor/worldchampion.htm
  22. Well the time has come to put it in. Tomorrow the LS1 will come up the hill and into the car. Unless of course it rains like it always does on the 4th. Strong encouragement is needed here for sure. Once installed I get to do the fun stuff, like the exhaust and the cooling system. I already installed the harness in the car and it’s pushed up out of the way. Here’s a pic of the LS1 as she will be sleeping tonight. Hopefully I will be able to really piss off the neighbors by next week. Sweet thunder mufflers, well they call them mufflers but their really just a 2 ½" straight pipe with some dents in it. http://www.circuitflex.com/ReadyToInstall.jpg
  23. Maybe adapt it out to a banjo fitting on the caliper, that would come off at 90 degrees.
