  1. Not true, you can remove the trim easily , if you are replacing the rubber just take a razor blade and trim the small lip off the rubber seal that holds the trim in on both sides . be careful removing it it may have weatherstrip adhesive holding it in in places, it will bend very easily so take your time and be gentle, polish it up and you can reinstall it in your new window gasket after the window is installed in the car.
  2. Thanks for the Pic's , nice work, looks like ill be going the same route as you guys
  3. Nice job on the install , nice info. Did ya get some pictures of the ls1 filler neck installed, I'm very interested in this setup. thanks
  4. IMHO this is basically what the 350z shoulda looked like. Id change a few things but it just screams Gen 1 Z. http://www.rsportscars.com/eng/cars/chrysler_firepower.asp
  5. I did this about a year ago to my 280z After seeing how Pete did his, I modeled it in CAD. posted drawings in PDF form in this post, Remember to weld nuts in for the tow brackets and sway bar mounting holes. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=94710 .

  7. Update: Well I cant stop cutting , I have a couple dozen more 3" cutting discs left so no metal is safe till there gone. Took off the rear panel, the whole left rear is next...... I am content in knowing I have lost my mind , and press on........... Anyone have a good set of inner rear quarters, Or maybe I'll just fab some from sheet .
  8. I know what you mean, I'm gonna put the doors, hatch and fenders and hood on before I weld anything and make sure everything lines up.

  10. Update: I have the rear end that I am replacing removed from the donor car , I have to clean the mating surfaces up and general cleanup and trimming , then I remove the same section from the car. then fit everything back together , measure a million times, and weld. piece of cake.
  11. Yea that would be helpful And how about some details on your accesory brackets? I'd like to do the same setup.
  12. I dont know if link had been posted before (probably has), But it has alot of great links. (has Hybridz URL listed so it has to be good) http://www.hpsalvage.com/links.htm
  13. Thx UPDATE: Well I finally stopped thinking about it and grabbed a cutoff wheel and hacked it off. Its Do or Die now. I think I have a plan on fixing it now that I see how it was put together,I think it will be easier to replace the outer fenderwell, quarter panel and rear subframe as a unit, instead of piecing it together. The saga continues..............

  15. check out these links http://www.wheelmart.com/spinon.htm http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html
  16. Update: Got help turning the car around , and started work on the rear, The guy who worked on this car must have had stock in the Bondo company, The quarter was totally covered in Bondo, up to 1/2 inch thick. These are after I took a DA sander, then a wire wheel to it, DUST EVERYWHERE! I was hopeing not to have to replace the quarter, but this ones trash, so off it will come. I have a donor quarter but it is damaged at the tailight, but not as bad as the one on the car, so I hope to graphed a good section onto it and use it as a replacement. dont look like it will be back on the wheels as soon as i'd hoped. . . This is the Donor Panel .. Ordered A Spot weld drill bit and a bunch of cutting wheels... Operation "SAVE A ZEE" continues..............
  17. Thats Kewl , Get yer boys car going first Just shoot me an Email on how much $ ya need and how to get it to ya. Now for the Update : The Front end is solid again. all welded up , fenders fit much better now and the hood lines up well. Feels good to finally get something completed, as opposed to ripping things apart. . .
