  1. I was going to run the MP T70 because from what I have read it is not a bad turbo for the money. However for the same money you can get a better one that will support 1000 hp. Let me define better though because I'm saying it's better due to the amount of people that run the s400, the company support, and you have all the knowledge of the turbo from other people using them. I was just lenient with the mp's because it's a new company for cheap turbos which would make anybody lenient on why are they so cheap? I didn't want to spend 600 dollars on a door stop so I bought the s400 that has been proven by numerous amounts of poeple. I'm not trying to sway you at all just putting it out there on why I purchased the s400 instead of the mpt70. what is your goals for this motor?
  2. All motors have to flow good and get fuel to make power, they don't care what name is stamped on their block.
  3. woops grumpy already covered the cost comparison. I dont know how I missed it. haha.
  4. I'm no far near the knowledge of you, but I'm just basing this off from my case. There's nothing that I would like better than to build a NA big block. But comparing costs of building a big block compared to a small block, it was to much for my budget. So to get the same power out of a small block compared to a big block you need to have it rev 9-10 grand which you already know. I also know to build a sbc to withstand that abuse isn't cheap either, but it is cheaper than to building a stoudt big block simply because big block parts are more expensive. For my case I turbocharged my 350 which is more of a "equalizer" for the small block, but still remain under 7000 to lengthening the life of my small block and produce more power than most big blocks that people build poorly. So overall I believe it is due to a cost and you have to rev your sbc to make power out of it NA.
  5. What kind of heads and flow? with you wanting to run it on the street you should get a hydraulic roller with about a 110 lobe sep. since you want to run nitrous. you'll have to figure out the rest on you heads, stahl, weight ect. the r-200 should be fine for you. I'm running the r-200 and i'm making more power than you. and like bbz said there is no need for you to run dual carbs. dual carbs are for high flowing drag racing engines that make their power up high. you also have double the trouble with them. a holley 750 dp would be fine for you. if you want to step it up you can get a 750hp.
  6. any car can break at any point in time. No matter how new or old.
  7. If you want to drag race it more (which it seems with a 12 pt.) then why don't you just get a F1r?
  8. I think you reach "enough" horsepower until you get bored with it and it doesn't excite you like it did before. Then you look to get more horsepower to excite you like it did the first time. It's like a bad drug addiction, it's alright until the high isn't as good as the first time and then the 'I need more' kicks in.
  9. I pay roughly 15,000 a year for college. I make roughly 6,000 in the year (mostly summer). so I make roughly -9000 a year.
  10. No. She is coming around and developing well to the headers. She is still a virgin, but I plan on breaking her in soon when I can come home from school.
  11. This is Betty Boost and I. It was taken the day I received her. p.s. she came in at 45 pounds.
  12. I personally like "how fast do you want to spend?" I thought I could keep my my budget under 1500....until I was thinking...do I just want this motor to run or do I want it to last and not have to do it again for a while. I sure could've came close to my budget if I would've skimped out like using a 6A instead of a digital 6, using steel wheels instead of the sportmaxx, using street tires instead of drag radials, using a used turbo compared to a new, using stock rods with arp bolts, ect. ect. OH I just wanted to let you guys know that the 1500 was on top of an almost complete NA motor.
  13. I figured it up and my over the summer turbo conversion cost 7900. If I would have stayed NA with some nitrous which I almost wish I did with 14000 a year going to college it would probably have been 3000. But turbos get me off.
  14. I am. I also posted a few pics of it about a month ago. I know there is a thread with a 4.3L single. Search. Pm me if you would like.
  15. http://www.aeromotiveinc.com/d_systems.php?systemdisplay=carb the a-1000 is my setup for a single turbo forced induction and I'm 90% sure that it is the same fpr with twins. search turbomustangs.com to be sure. Yes the pressure will come up as the boost does.
  16. run you daily driver to 1/2 tank and fill it up.
  17. congrats on starting it up. I'm so frustrated right now because like always it takes longer than expected and my car is in parts waiting for me to come home from college. The bad thing is is that all I have to do is wire it up. I at least wanted to hear a put before I left for school. Come on fall break!!! haha. p.s. your video inspired me to get home
  18. IMO I would get all aeromotive for the fuel system. You have some good parts (motor) you don't need destroyed by a cheap fpr. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for cheap stuff, but the fuel system is not something I want to malfunction. Besides you would never have to buy another one as long as your don't want to make over 1100 flywheel. I ran one of my hot side pipes under the crossmember. Just remember that the engine torques over so put a chain on it or leave room when going under. You should be able to make 600 easy on pump. The HX35 I would think to be too small, but I never looked at one of their compressor maps so someone can correct me if i'm wrong.
  19. did you have a good bit of feed out because of the gun not fitting in there? I learned from welding my headers up (mainly the merge) that I had to turn the feed way up along with the volts when welding with long feed to get a good job. It was my first time welding other than putting two pieces of flat metal together and my headers hold 60 psi. Some of the parts look like "poop" but as experienced welders say "you only get better by more welding." Good job on attempting.
  20. I used a jegs 8 point (only put in 5 for now) and it fit/looks nice. Why do you want twin turbo? You may want to research going twin turbo specifically on "turbomustangs.com"
  21. I'm just curious, but is "hiding" the battery just for looks or is there a rule your trying to get by? 680cca should be fine for a stock compression motor.
  22. You can even stay small block and run pump gas AND it'll fit under the hood...even though I like his turbo motors better (setup). http://www.nelsonracingengines.com/engines-centrifical.html
  23. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=102522&highlight=dual+exhaust one of many threads in the exhaust section.
