I talked to Mike from master power turbos and he suggested a T70 turbo with a .96 A/R. He said that should put down about 600 rwhp at 12 psi and about 700rwhp at 20psi on a 350. Yes thats RWHP. New Polished turbo for 600 plus shipping. I searched on the turbo mustang board and everyone said that they were well built turbos (not like the glued together ones on ebay, lol) and one guy had a minor defect with his and they replaced it with a new one so thats enough to get me to buy one. I dont think my girlfirend is going to like that I'll spend more time with my car than her. Guess she'll just have to help if she really loves me. I'll give her parts to clean. HAHA. Hopefully I will be done by the end of June. Thanks for all your input.

i went to this turbo calculator here. http://www.turbofast.com.au/javacalc.html It says a gt42 with a 1.4 a/r but i think that is too high of an a/r. I was thinking of an a/r no bigger than .8.

I'll run it until it gives, but i think it will be alright since my brother-in-law ran a six cylinder pg in his '69 z/28 and he ran 10's with a 406 and mid nines on the jug. All he had done to his was a jw bell housing (stock kept cracking) and a manual valve body.

I dont plan on going anyfaster than a 10.0 with my 280zx. I dont want to put all the safety stuff in it. I'll get another z to put all that safety stuff in it so i can go nines down the road . But I just want something to make about 700 fwhp. So what would be a good A/R?

Thanks for you input silicone, I figured i might as well do it now rather than just put nitrous on it to get it running, even if it does set me back a couple months. I'm planning on making my own headers and running the turbo towards the front of the car like the turbo stang boys do. What do you think about that silicone as far as placement? Also what A/R would be good for the turbo and compressor housing? thanks.

decided to change from nitrous to put a turbo/blow-through setup on. The only thing is is that i had a huge book on turbos i printed off the net to help choose a turbo but i lost i. So i'm asking you guys what you got for single turbos on your v8's. I was thinking about a T-66 for my 350. I only want to run 10.0 so i think that is something like 650-700fwhp i need which is very doable. Any suggestions on turbo for my engine would be good. I'm also getting new dished pistons to lower my compression to about 8.2:1 and some eagle rods. but just wanted to see what size you guys where running.

Silicone Boys easy SBC Turbo manifolds
dustin280zx replied to steven_esworthy's topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
Thats a very nice set up you have got. I read silicone boys writes, which were very well detailed, thank you silicone, and a big money saver which has got me almost want me to do would be doing a blow through set up instead of FI. There are countless poeple with blow throughs (check out turbomustang.com and no its not just mustangs). Send your carb out to CSU and have it modified for blow through for 400 bucks and thats it. If you have any problems with the carb just send it back and they'll fix it. My brother-in-law has a 383 with a F1-R procharger and put out 695 rwhp with blow through. And there are countless poeple over 1000rwhp with blow throughs. Granted it wouldnt be as good as FI cause that is the best, but it is alot cheaper. -
i got an '83 280zx and yanked the l6 out that ran fine about two weeks ago and waiting for my sbc to get back from the machine shop (getting block cooked and decked and more than likely have to get the pistons fly cut depending on what cam i get, which reminds me i got to call comp cams after i get out of class). I go home on saturday night and work on it sunday (have wrestling meets and tourneys on saturday and friday). should have it done by june sometime since wrestling ends in march and i'll have two days to work on it a week, plus spring break. 2 1/2 hours one way just to work on my z. thats love. haha.

has anyone got their girlfriend, wife wanting a Z of their own?
dustin280zx replied to nscason's topic in Non Tech Board
All the girls i took a ride in my 280zx loved it (espeacially with the t-tops off) and wanted to drive it, but i'm smart enough not to let a girl drive it. The only thing I dont like about them is that there's no room for the aftermath of the dates so we always have to be quiet to try not to wake up her housemates or parents. There's hardly enough room for me (6'2") but i fit in comfortably. lol. -
nevermind i found there store ours but i thought they had a 24 hour toll free customer help. guess i'll have to wait until monday.
-
Anyone know comp cams store hours? i looked all over there site and couldnt find it, thought one of you guys might have a book with hours in. trying to call them. thanks.
-
i second that its the best z car site, you have almost enough information on here to build a z from ground up not even knowing what a z is and not even to have to post a question. if you get my point. lol.

93 LT1 Pros/Cons to this motor?
dustin280zx replied to gvincent's topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
anitfreeze in oil is not good, it eats away at the bearings so plan on replacing all the bearings. also you may need a new crank depending on how bad the spun bearing scarred it, but then again a polish job might be all it needs. i had a spun beaing in the sbc i got and i just got another crank rather than spending money to get it polished. -

What does this fuel curve need?
dustin280zx replied to jt1's topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
for it leaning out at the higher rpms, i agree with dr. hunt. check the fuel pressure. -
alright first the setup. 350 sbc roller lifters and rockers victor jr. intake 750 double pumper w/ mech. secondaries brodix track one heads w/ roller springs up to .700 lift(ported, flows 304 @ .700) I will be driving this on the street, but mostly drag racing it. I will run nitrous on it. nothing big prolly 100 shot or so. (cant go faster than 10.0) i'm plan on shifting between 6500 and 7000. i was thinking about a 262 @ .50 with around a 600 lift or so. oh this is mechanical roller too. any suggestions on what you guys think would be the best cam.

Did not retorque the heads after 1 hour of running
dustin280zx replied to v80z's topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
dr. hunt, it may not be 1/2 a turn or so, but its alittle bit. also this was on a pulling tractor that had the original head studs and was over 50 years old.
