  1. Thank you for your kind words. Just think, this whole project started because someone who has been building custom cars for 30+ years told me, "You can't put a BBC in that thing with cutting it up or motor-plating it." Seeing is believing and he won't even speak to me now . Its like the old saying, never be afraid to try something new: Professionals build the Titanic. An Amateur build the Ark. Sorry, I have been super busy with work. I should be able to make the meet for December though. Just replaced the tires after the cords started showing on the rear tires. I went with 215/70/14's on my stock 'Iron Cross' rims. They are taller and wider than the 195/60/14's they replaced. The car is higher now and rides much better. Of course the added contact patch is improved as well. As far as the neighbors, most are pretty cool about it. They seems to come over while I am working on it...... I don't have a video camera, but it you guys want more pics, I can do that. What do you want shots of?
  2. What's been done to your SBC to get an honest 500HP? Thanks!!
  3. I am partial to BBC's myself.......
  4. I went ahead and bought/installed 215/70/14's on all 4 corners today. I gotta say I am really glad that I am not scrapping on every bump in the road. Plus, the added traction is nice too.
  5. I think a 225 might rub on the front lower spring perch, not sure how I would turn with all that iron up front though....hee, hee!!
  6. Thanks, I was worried the 215's would rub the lower front spring perch. I don't think going to a 70 series tire will make any difference on clearence in that area.
  7. As you may or maynot know, I have a warmed over Chevrolet big block 454 showhorned under my hood. My springs are good for it, but I have dual 3" exhaust that is tucked up under the car as possible, but I still scrap on just about everything. My current tires are 195/60/14 (about 23" tall) and they were on the car when I bought it. Well they are showing their wear due to my previous 383 and the 454 really has put the pain on them. Down the road I plan on buying new 15" rims and tires that will also be 26" tall just like the 215/70/14's.
  8. Can anyone else confirm this? Better question, can I fit 215/70/14's on Iron Cross wheels all the way around?
  9. Anyone know what the max width tires can be used with stock 'Iron Cross' wheels?
  10. I need to know what the max tire I can fit on stock 14" 'Iron Cross' wheels. Thanks!!
  11. What size rims are you running front and rear? Backspacing? Thanks!!
  12. Yes, but your still going to need flares for the outside.
  13. Alright guys, I got 1000 miles on the motor now and counting. Soon on the list new rims and tires. Next I am building my own custom carb and then maybe I'll buy a front 'glass clip w/bumper detail from Zcarparts.com
  14. What year Miata is that intended for? Is it a Auto Meter A-pillar pod?

Is the car resting the whole weight on the rims/tires?
  16. Do/did you have any clearence issues with the 15x6 with the 3.5" of BS? I was planning on the 15x6 rims with 3.5" of backspacing using 205/65/15 tires, but I was worried the rims would have too much backspacing and would hit the front struts. Oh yeah, what lugs did you use with you rims? Size, length, etc.? I ask because I'll order them with the rims next week.
  17. Nope, I guess I could just stick my original plan and buy 5.5" and have billet .5" spacers on each side.
  18. I am still running the factory u-joint halfshafts in my 280z with my 454. I still haven't really hammered on it, but I have done a quick 10 brake-stand. I think mine will live as long as I don't hookup.
  19. Pics & $$$ to Bakersfield, Ca. 93313? Thanks!!! Those are the wheels I have now and I don't care for them.
  20. Digging up an old post, but what is the widest tire you can place on a stock 14 x 6 wheel on a 240/260/280z?
