  1. At this point I am on the fence on which way I'll go. I'd rather have the CLSD in the 8.8 and the aftermarket gear set choices. On the other had I already have my R230 and one pair of halfshafts. So I just need to source one more pair and then buy the axles and adapters and I am set. I just didn't want to mess with drilling and modifying my stock mustache bar either.
  2. I am not sure what you are trying to show me, but the auction link on the second page of that topic is the same as the link in my initial post. It brings up the same $600 set of 16x8 Rewinds, that's a bit different than $400. If I missed something, please tell me. Besides, I really don't like the look of 8" wide wheels up front. I plan to drag race the car in time, although the car is street driven, but I'd prefer if I didn't run a large front rim.

    8.8" Irs???

    Bump for updates....
  4. Time to go to the top for some updates for the R230 mounts and the bolt-in 8.8 kit.
  5. Hey guys. Next week I think I might finally breakdown and buy some decent rims for the Z. I am torn between.... These: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=010&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=200106186474&rd=1&rd=1 These: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140116190871 Or these (15x6 front 15x8 rear $600 shipped): http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=WLD%2D90%2D57038&N=700+4294923105+4294793325+4294906461+4294906458+4294795102+115&autoview=sku All of them would be used with a 25.5-26" tall tire. Opinions on just these three rims? I am not interested in any other wheels or sizes other than what I have listed above. Please understand that I respect your opinions, but I have already narrowed down my selections. Thanks guys!!.
  6. New pics..... Local Cruise Night: Yes, my overflow tank leaks... Like my plates? Some of my 'bigger fans':
  7. That's a good question because I plan on using Toyota calipers and might be running Draglites.
  8. I am looking at some Rota RB's in 15x7's with +04 offset for the front and 15x8's with +04 offset for the rear. Same should apply, correct?
  9. Digging up an old post, but my floors get pretty hot with a BBC up front. Currently my floors are bare steel. I considered wrapping my entire dual 3" exhaust with header wrap, but worry that it won't last with all the street driving I do. I am looking at carpet kits right now, but wanted to see if there is anything I can lay down under the/before the carpet to heat insulate the floors. I am not really interested in sound insulation, just heat. Plus, lighter the better.
  10. Do you remember the sellers name? Thanks!!
  11. Digging up an old post..... Are you running tubes in either front or rear? I am seriously considering these because I love the thread design and the fact that they are radials...... http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=MTT%2D6653&N=700+400206+311492+115&autoview=sku
  12. Looks like I will prob try out a 2004-R with some of the more critical upgrades. I think I posted a question about which parts I need over at TC.
  13. Hey Jon, what size are you rear rims and backspacing? Any issues with the tires and the rear strut towers? Thanks!!
  14. Interesting read, although I don't agree with all the statements. To each his own...
  15. Maybe this was already answered, but what does the small tire Z turn in the quarter? Either way, that little thing MOVES. It would surely smoke my BBC powered Z. Again, nice, very nice.
  16. Well I am glad to see you are doing something better for your poor BBZ. I think the 396 stroker is your best bet for cost. If you have any questions, please ask!! Later!!
  17. Agreed. Although I thought LS-6's used closed chamber heads. The only one I've ever pulled apart was from a 1970 Chevelle and it had 291 heads if memory serves. There may be different heads offered on the factory installed LS-6's VS the crate/over the counter replacements. Anyway 990's are decent heads too (rect port, open chamber). Their faults are the intake ports are too big for streetable 454's and they have a small, crappy flowing exhaust port. However, any decent head porter with a bench can fix them up pretty easily.
  18. Here you go: http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=98860 Man that guy is nuts!! Oh wait, that's me!! More pics and stuff in the link in my sig. Michael is correct though, a BBC swap into a Z is NOT a first timer swap. Especially if you do not know your way around a BBC blindfolded. I've been messing around with both SBC & BBC since age 5 (seriously, dad & grandpa raced a 427 Nova) and I still don't know it all. I like both motors, but BBC are my bread & butter. Oh, not to step on Corzette's toes, but it is possible to run a stock hood with a BBC. I placed my BBC low enough that if I had run a reg Performer RPM instead of the RPM Air-Gap I could of used the stock hood and a 3" air cleaner element. I considered buying another stock hood and a reg RPM intake, but this car shakes the ground regardless, so the sleeper style wouldn't work anyway. Besides, I am in the early stages of building at least a 496 stroker or 540+ inch BBC. Either one will have w/AFR heads, solid roller cam, forged pistons/crankshaft, H-Bean rods, and build to take some squeeze (on tap if needed). My goal is to have a streetable, pump gas, low 9's Z on the stock IRS (R230). Anyway, I'll be using a Vic Jr intake with that motor anyway and would need the cowl hood to fit. If you have anymore questions, just ask.
  19. Digging up an old post, but I have a standard bore 427 tall deck (4 bolt mains, mag'd, etc) and another Team G tall deck intake (also brand new). Both are for sale. Thanks!!
  20. Thanks dude. I need one for the R230, but a buddy might go with the Q45 R200 for his Z so its good to have both part numbers and est costs. I think they are getting cheaper, I seem to remember them being in the $200 a few years ago.
