  1. Nice looking seat. I look forward to seeing it in a car, on the track.
  2. The tilton release bearing I saw was from the corvette. The ls1 944 set up uses the corvette belhousing so that makes sense. It also required shimming to get the bearing height correct.
  3. For that price I'd buy new also. I'll be interested to hear what you find out about the release bearing. Mine is making funny noises and I'm sure it will die one day.
  4. I would still keep an eye out on ebay for the tilton stuff. You can use the QM flywheel and still save a few bucks
  5. Your welcome. Post what you end up with. Did you ask him about a throw out set up for the t56?
  6. Good luck sourcing parts. I hope you find a killer ebay deal.
  7. That's it. Just need to make sure the bolt pattern is correct for the ls crank.
  8. I'm running a double and if I had seen the ebay stuff I would have been all over it. The triple will be a few lbs heavier but it is still nothing near the weight of the stock set up. Quartermaster 7.25 is interchangable with the tilton stuff. I have had both on the bench. The 944 I mentioned is running a tilton triple disc with a quartermaster button flywheel. That may be another option to check out.
  9. You are also going to need a throw out bearing specific to the clutch used. I cobbled together parts from Quartermaster and Mcleod to make something that would work because I had the parts laying around. Tilton makes a throw out bearing that bolts to the t-56. I checked there clutch componet cataloge but could not find it. I have seen it installed just don't know the part number. It's on a buddies 944 ls-1 track car. It will be a beast!
  10. Those ebay clutches look like a great deal. You would still need to buy the correct button flywheel. It looks like most of those come without any type of flywheel.
  11. You do need to get the button flywheel for your application. There was no pin on my ls1 either. I did not do anything to the computer other than disable the vats. It idles with out any issues. When I did the heads and cam, that changed the idle characteristics. It required much more air on decel to keep it running. The tuner (Jeff Creach) says he sees this with cars with this clutch set up. It still idles at about 950 or so.
  12. Jon, If you have the stock flex plate from the 5.3 you are set. The flex plate and this part 7.25" Optimum Button Flywheels bolt to the crank. The clutch stack and pessure plate, these parts bolt to the button flywheel. Compare the approximate 15 lbs of rotating mass of this set up to the 50lbs or so of the stock set up. It revs very quickly.

    T55 Trike

I'd ride it. Not sure where but I don't think it would matter. It would go anywhere!
  14. I called Tilton and told them what I was doing and they told me what I needed. It was flex plate, stock is fine since no torque is transmitted thru the flex plate, clutch pack, hardware and throwout bearing. Another option to check out is quartermaster clutches. Similar to the tilton setup.
  15. Do you have any pics of your wench? Does she know Tiger? I have had no problems with lock up on decel. I'll call that a myth. I think I paid about 750 for it 3 or 4 years ago. Here is a pic of my wench. This is a must in any trailer.
  16. I'm running a tilton 7.25 twin disc set up. It bolts directly to the crank and uses a flex plate instead of a fly wheel. I think the whole set up weighs less than 15 lbs. 2 years on the track and it looked fine the last time I had it apart. There is no feathering the clutch. A wench on the trailer is a must.
  17. The thermostat has to be open. Check it again.
  18. Did you go thru the bedding procedure that porterfield recomends?
  19. The car was a pig. It looked like the driver was pushing it fairly hard. Not a center of the track type of guy.
  20. I'll never forget one of my first track days. There was a 308 on slicks in my group. I was on some BFG R1's in my stock lt-1 240-Z. My goal was to keep him insight. I was very new to open track days. After a lap or two I lost him in my REAR VIEW MIRROR! The thing was a pig. Keep the Z.
  21. Thanks BJ, I'm looking forward to many track days this spring.
  22. The hub is an ebay item. I don't remember the cost. I have no idea how the wheel is put together.
