  1. Yeah the whole idea was to add AC, without going aftermarket, but theres no way I could fit it under the stock dash without removing it so I figured, what the hell? Glacial speeds, haha, I like that one! Owen
  2. "Is there any reason I should be spending big bucks on recaros, corbeaus, ect...?" No, unless you have money to burn, are making an all out show car to compete with lambo-door ricer cars, or are serious about racing and want a high quality seat. I've sat in most of the high quality seats and liked the Bride ones the best, but at least $700 for one, without rails?!?! They need to put these things in airplanes... Check out this thread. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=100066
  3. Sweet, if the answer to Tim's Q is "yes". Guess I missed the update to this thread. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=89451&highlight=tubing+bender Due to lack of space, what are my options on buying just dies to use with my 20 ton press? Owen
  4. I did it this way to make everything removable. The cap is only two philips screws, and the tubing mounts to the stock 10mm holes in the firewall. The two large gauges are on a separate tube and mount to the steering column. The radio area is also separate. I take things apart a lot... The extra tubing also supports AC parts that I will be putting in, maybe. All of this was a snowball-while-I'm-at-it job. My seats were too close to the steering wheel, the easiest option (believe me) was to cut the steering column shaft and re-weld it shorter. The new dash also sits about an inch and a half lower than the original, it was just easier that way with the tubing. Owen
  5. I need to go to San Diego...no DAP at our Walmart and no big *** sheets of foam at our Michael's! Those two inch thick sheets would have saved me a lot of hassle, I hate hot gluing foam together! The dash looks good, I hope the car will be at MSA? If your L-brackets aren't enuff, get some square aluminum tubing and run it across the width of the firewall area and sit the new dash on it. That's how my dash cap is mounted, the original dash is gone. excuse the mess, ECU relocation I have extra tubing in there to support the gauges, etc. They line up with the holes in the cap as seen in the prev. page. BTW, I use photobucket.com. Owen
  6. Wait a minute, forgot whose post this was! Terry, you need to create some totally custom seats out of FRP or carbon, no off the shelf stuff or JY stuff for you! I envision a bucket seat with little arms that swing forward over your eyes, like a targetting system in a fighter jet or something Owen
  7. My faves... KG (already mentioned), Zeebra, DS455, Distromental, K-Dub Shine, Sphere of Influence, Doushi-T, Sword, DJ Masterkey, DABO I used to like M-Flo, they're more hip hop than rap and I like the female vocalist...anything you hear on the radio sucks. There's also Soul Scream, United Nations, Uzi, Ozrosaurus, Nitro, Muro, Dragon Ash, DJ Oasis Owen
  8. So the cars are in your driveway now right??? I need a front crossmember. Owen
  9. I have this one, http://www.autogeek.net/ma927po.html Depends on how long/how many times you plan to use it. Just once? Then get something cheaper. I've had mine for like 4 years and have used it for buffing, polishing, sanding, etc. Owen
  10. Yeah, they charge you the volume weight of the box when shipping. I hate mail order cuz sometimes the shipping costs more than the item itself! Owen
  11. Being Japanese myself, I know there's not a lot of space to do that kinda stuff, having your own personal one car garage is even a blessing! And for that you'd have to be super rich or live in the sticks. I bet the owner had a shop do it...just some rich guy who was bored with his car. But the work is awesome and I agree with Terry on the self-satisfaction. Cuz IF YOU DIDN'T BUILD IT... Owen
  12. I heard the same thing on the transmissions of the 350Z, from a Nissan engineer. Nothing an aftermarket part won't cure. Owen
  13. I agree with this. Some people spend way too much time with getting their actual AFR to match their target A/R. It's an endless circle to me, especially since the wideband isn't even real time, by the time you see data on your laptop or gauge, that mass of fuel-air has already passed the sensor. Reading the plugs is always a good tried and true method, don't forget about that. A high quality EGT never hurt either...to much $$$ though. I'd be more interested in learning what Mike's buddy learned, if he could pass on the info? Owen
  14. Here's a nicely equipped garage I'd like to have http://www.ultimategarage.com/UltGar2y.htm Owen
  15. They look like the same things I bought a couple of months ago. We were talking about it in this thread http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=96989&page=2&pp=25 Look for the pic I photoshopped together. I don't remember how much I paid, I can't even remember where I bought them from....Mine were 5/8 though. Owen
  16. Back on topic, I KNEW that high flow catalytic converter on my 240Z may come in handy one day! Not like I drive the thing tho... I just bought a 1991 300ZX twin turbo, passed smog with numbers weigh UNDER average! The first thing I noticed when I test drove it that the exhaust note was not coming from the tailpipes, but from a hole in the cat! Looks like the tailpipe readings weren't the only thing "under average" at the smog check place....or should I say "below average". Oh well, helped me! And hopefully it will help me if I ever get stopped and get the tail pipe sniffed. One below average person is all it takes to let me slide by. Owen
  17. Autoshop classes suck, the pace is way too slow...I had one teacher who would keep returning to the subject of why American cars produce more horsepower than Japanese ones, etc etc. OK, WE HEARD THIS LAST WEEK...AND THE WEEK BEFORE! Like I'm saying, buy my setup. If you have a Z, the JTR stuff will come with it, and it'll be all bolt-in from there. Well, you might need to hammer the tunnel, etc. Finding a beater Z is easy, if you buy my setup, maybe I can convince one of my friends to sell you their Z shells. Want me to get a Z and swap it over for you? How much would you pay me??? Owen
  18. I jumped right in....previous experience was bolting on k&n air filters on Hondas, wheels, mufflers etc. If you're a quick learner and a good thinker, anyone can do it. I'm in Huntington Beach, about an hour from you. I would suggest a 383 SBC with a T56 along with programmable fuel injection...hey, that's exactly my setup and what I'm trying to sell! Again, it all depends on how and where you want to drive the car. Decide that first and then look at what others have done. Owen
  19. Looks like he's trying to keep hot air off the radiator from reaching the intakes??? Owen
  20. That's a fully adjustable coilover system, works as you described. The Tein system involves an electric motor which rotates the "hardness" setting of the shocks. Something like the active suspension found in Z32s, RX7s, etc. Owen
  21. They have a site now, http://www.roberuta.com/ more, http://www.asahi-net.or.jp/~tq6n-ymd/roberuta/roberuta.html http://www011.upp.so-net.ne.jp/m-modetime/page043.html It's only about 2 grand...I wish I could just get the upper mounts. Owen
  22. Your best bet would be to contact the manufacturers. I'm guessing you'd only need a perch and the proper diameter? There's other systems out there too, one that is a cyclinder with one side open and the "closed" side moves up and down. Think of it as your upper perches/strut locators being height adjustable. The company was Roberuta and when I searched last year, there was no info on it. Just saw a mag advertisement. Owen
