  1. Dan, Just wanted to express my appreciation as well. I hope your new avatar isn't an indication of how things are going with you. P.S. - What's the scoop with your car? Did you install the old school turbo setup or what?
  2. Baed on the winning bidders name...it looks like it will be going in a 280Z.
  3. I was playing around with painting flames on my car as well...I still may. Looks great!
  4. Why didn't you post this before I started my Vintage Air conversion.
  5. Here's another thread you can look at. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=107087
  6. The LT1 installs pretty much the same as any other SBC. You can use the same JTR mounts and everything, the only difference is in the wiring. Depending on your skills, desire and budget; you can do the wiring yourself or buy a wiring kit ready to plug in.
  7. You can get it cheaper than $80 on eBay. The bracket is made by Alan Grove Components and is available through them directly for $60 or maybe even cheaper through a reseller. http://www.alangrovecomponents.com/LT1.htm
  8. I used my stock lines, but I found this article the other day. It claims that the return line should be the same size or larger than the feed line. Anyone care to comment on this? http://www.carcraft.com/howto/56398/index2.html
  9. Try to do a search on this...I think you'll find that it will not fit. It's definitely been discussed on more than one occassion. Here's a thread to get you going: http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=67051
  10. It's looking pretty close to the Bower's setup now, except your using a Sanden compressor. Let me know how that adapter works out to use the Sanden Compressor...maybe something similar would work on my Bower's bracket. From your picture, it looks like you will need to turn your compressor to keep the fittings from interfering with the hood (if it doesn't interfere, IMHO it would still look better to exit from the bottom). If you can't turn it, maybe you could use a rear exit design.
  11. Everything is available as aftermarket. Go to http://www.vintageair.com and check it out. You can request a catalog or view the pdf version online. The best part is its all the latest technology, and just abut everything is better than stock ever was. It's like HybridZing your AC, Heat, Defrost, and ventilation.
  12. I called and talked with March before I bought my bracket from Bowers...and based on their experience and the measurements they provided me; it will not fit under the hood on a Z. The compressor is longer than the alternator, and therefore it needs to sit higher than the alternator to prevent it from interfering with the valve cover.
  13. The plan is to install closed cell foam along the back and sides of the airbox to seal against the hood...I just haven't gotten to that yet.
  14. Alright here's the new radiator support I fabricated out of 16 gauge 1 x 2 rectangular tubing. It's just tacked in place for now. So...do you think I have enough support now?
  15. Not sure if this will help, but what size return line are you running? Maybe the return line is too small to return all the unused fuel back to the tank. You stated that this problem started when you let someone switch your supply line to 1/2", so it makes me wonder if having a 1/2" supply line is the problem. Here's an article I found that may be of interest: http://www.carcraft.com/howto/56398/index2.html
  16. Very impressive. Did you see the pic with the "body sat on"? Get a load of that big a** intercooler haging out the front.
  17. Sounds like you've done your homework and created a well thought out plan. Its good that you've decided what you want your car to be and created a plan that will get you there. Keep us posted on your progress.
  18. Congratulations and good luck! Is your donor fairly rust free and what's your plan (i.e. - complete tear down, just a transplant, body kit, rear end, wheels, etc.)?
  19. I'm picking up some 1 x 2 rectangular steel tubing today, and I'll work on a new brace this weekend. I'm still thinking of starting at the same location that my temporary wood brace was sitting and then maybe adding a vertical piece on each end to make a big "H" connecting the top and bottom of the radiator support.
  20. I have a thread about a Ram Air system from a 96 SLP Firehawk. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=106914
  21. There was a thread about this not too long ago...but now I can't find it. I think that someone is using the same name as mine, but regardless mine is still named "RoxZ". My daughter came up with it and Rox is supposed to be the hip spelling for something that "rocks" (Not that I would know...but she's thirteen so I'll take her word for it.) Maybe you could call yours "Z Beast" instead of "The Beast". Just a thought...
