  1. That can't be good for the chrome plating on the headers.
  2. Alt- yes Reg - yes if you have the money, this old one is, no doubt, a roadside letdown waiting to happen.
  3. I had a 1971 El Dorado, 5100lbs on a military scale which was accurate to 20lbs. It was FWD and had 500cubes. 550ftlbs 365hp net from the factory. 120mph at 4krpm in 3rd (lockup type automatic transaxel, top gear) felt like 80 in the Z. I didn't take it any further because at 4krpm it sounded like a freight train with 2.5" dual exhausts through flowmaster muffs. But it was smooth as a baby's butt. That thing was so cool it could break both fronts loose at freeway speeds when you hammered it. I took it to the track once and it did 6 seconds to 60 and something like 12 sec 1/4 I can't remember if it was upper or lower 12, but considering it was 5100lbs and nearly stock you have to respect that 8.2L BBC.
  4. balast would have an effect on spark plug voltage, usually the plugs will stt 30kV, without the balast it might go up to as much as 35kV, but electroplating? Assuming it could the balast would not effect that much, the balast lowers the voltage to the coil from 14 or so (which is what your alternator should be putting out) to 12. Take the regulator out completely and I bet you'd have 19V, There are contacts in the regulator which are obviously no longer working. As you said, your car would NOT stall unexpectedly, you said it would stall when it heated up for a while, sounds like the ignitor to me, but by adding the balast back, it might not get as hot and probably is marginal now.
  5. It's 99% in your settings and tune. But it may change slightly because a larger MAF is inherently less accurate than a smaller one, however newer technology appears every day so the newer bigger one may actually be more accurate. This is only important because the MAF is definately helping to control your A/F at low freeway speeds and RPM. But it's mostly about your tune. You may even see an improvement if you tunr better. emember there is an "economy" way to tune and a "power" way to tune as much as there is an "emmissions" way to tune. Hope this helps, probably not.
  6. I'll buy you one and ship it? It'll be at least 6k for a nice one and my fee 25%. Thank you,
  7. I'll drive mine to the southeast for $20,000 wired to my bank account. Probably cheaper to build your own though.
  8. I used a long handle Socket Wrench and a jack. After about three pumps the wrench went "POP" and the thing was loose.
  9. HONDA! Sorry, I've just been convinced to go Honda by the gas mileage, and better standard warrenty. And if you go for DX it's 2g cheaper. Here's a piece of advice, make sure your warrenty (not just powertrane) is at least as long as your loan payments. If you get a Scion, gat a "xB" for crying out loud. That's the cool one. Here you go. Civic Coupe LX Starts at 16,840 weight 2593 / 2655 MPG 30-40 140HP@6300 128TQ@4300 WEIGHT:POWER = 18.5 (SLUG) 0-60 = When it's damn good and ready. Warrenty = 5yr/60000 http://autos.yahoo.com/newcars/honda_civiccoupe_dx5spdat_2006/18513/style_review_article.html;_ylt=AtX1qavXvh6VXKE5tTRtMQTpFMsF?source=buyersguide Scion tC Starts at 16,840 weight 2905 / 2970 MPG 22-30 Really though 20 more HP for a drop of 10MPG? Get outta here. 160HP@5700 163TQ@4000 WEIGHT:POWER = 18.2 (SLUG) 0-60 = It'll get there, it just doesn't wanna today. Warrenty = 3/36,000 http://autos.yahoo.com/newcars/scion_tc_sportcoupe_2006/17310/style_review_article.html;_ylt=AtX1qavXvh6VXKE5tTRtMQSbyMgF?source=buyersguide
  10. Now before I get flamed... If she's anything like my wife: 1. she's a chick at heart 2. her friends aren't impressed by American cars (sadly) 3. safety, reliability, and comfort are more of a concern 4. 0-60 7 seconds: enough to get going when they need it, not enough to lose control and hit a pole when they are "driving angry". 5. Front wheel drive: perfect for those who don't know how to drive 6. Pricey, but she'll never forget that you spent 2X on her car then your car. 7. Suddenly, nightly headaches don't bother her anymore. 8. She starts saying, "You're right", more than you thought was possible or necessary. 9. Somehow your socks and underware feel like silk instead of starchy paper bags. 10. Every time she doesn't want to let you do something... you remind her that her car was 2X your car. And many many more...
  11. At least they lubbed you before they screwed you. Take one for the team, you got off, and free, just don't go back. -OR- Stand out in front of their store with a protest sign till they refund half the $25 they took you for in the first place.
  12. I couldn't find the mag. Dangit, my wife must have thrown it out. I did find the other mag I was in, "Deez Big Harry Nuts Monthly" (DHM). Only I didn't make the cover, and it's nothing to do with my car.
  13. No Insurance Co. could be that crewl, he probably didn't have full coverage.
  14. They even used the old picture you had with the Fararri on the forklift in the background. Wow, you'd think they'd want to take their own picture, but it is a nice picture. Kinda hard to read some of the type. Give me 5 minutes, I'll scan in the cover of the magazeen I was in, "Bigg Balls Digest." Yeah they talk about my car on page 53 but the cover shot is of my balls, only they zoomed in quite a bit, and they're not normally that shaven, let me scan that and I'll post it right away.
  15. Just because the part has no core value nor would ever work doesn't mean someone can't use it. Perhapse someone needs something to top off their art project, or paperweights? Really Really rusty and dirty paperweights that smell like dead fish?
  16. I thought I'd never see those Brass balls on EBAY! I was right, they seem to be selling them extremely cheap here! I just got them, and they're a little uncomfortable, but worth it! Now I'm ready for some serious off-roading in my Z! "Ever wonder where those high performance rally car drivers get their brass balls? For the first time ever, brass balls are being made available to the public! Sold in sets of three, Brass Balls are an easy way to increase your performance driving ability. (For off road race use only. Use on street may result in arrest, serious injury, or death.)"
